Having read of the Condamine Bell for the first time here, I have three questions which could be answered in the article. One, what is a pitsaw? If you can link to an existing article, that would be perfect, otherwise, a brief description in this article would be good. Two, if you can tell us which species of wood the "certain type of wood" was, that would help give depth. Three, how big is this bell? Thanks. --99of9 (talk) 03:55, 20 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think a "pit saw" is one of these: http://www.tasmanianforestfestival.org.au/Pit%20Saw.htm. Merlene, do you think that they're the actual metal saws used in Saw pits? Lankiveil (speak to me) 00:31, 22 June 2011 (UTC).[reply]

This article is definitely DYK material. We need to verify a few more of the details, like pitsaw. Regarding the species of wood, Brian H. Ford writes, "This meant that the logs of timber accepted by Mr. Jones, of which grey gum was one, had to be [dragged] to the bank of a little creek on Mr. McLennan's property." Possible DYK hook: A Welshman in Australia turned a saw into the Condamine Bell, and got orders from throughout the country.
