Welcome!

[edit]

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. The following links will help you begin editing on Wikipedia:

Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia:

The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome! Drm310 🍁 (talk) 22:28, 9 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! This was pretty helpful. I hope I can make some good edits. Merge8productions (talk) 00:00, 10 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If I have questions who do I go to? Merge8productions (talk) 00:03, 10 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Am I allowed to create Wikipedia pages based on my own projects? Not for promotion (not at all about advertising) just proud of my work. Merge8productions (talk) 00:51, 10 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Daryl Mitchell. You were quite kind to me and very helpful when I first logged onto Wikipedia. There is an individual in this organization that I feel is being quite bias towards my account. He has banned me and it seems to me that even though he said it was business it feels very personal. I will accept the ban if another administrator (a third party administrator, not him or you) comes in and reviews my account. If this new administrator is put on my account and says I violate guidelines then I will gladly change, but as of now I feel I haven't violated anything and the current administrator hasn't made it clear as to how I have violated. He is growing stern with me which I don't appreciate and I feel he has a growing dislike to my account that will likely cloud his vision when accessing my account. An individual with a bias towards me should not review my account and I would like a third party administrator who has 0 experience with me and a clean slate meaning no bias. Thank you very much. I want Wikipedia to be a good place that I can edit on and that is hard if an administrator is using his power to block an account based on what seems to me to be bias. Thank you I hope you can understand. Merge8productions (talk) 07:37, 13 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Oshwah. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to The Oprah Winfrey Show have been undone because they did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the help desk. Thanks. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 03:01, 9 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "Merge8productions", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it pretends to represent an organization rather than a single person. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you. Chris Troutman (talk) 17:26, 9 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Oshwa. My production company spent many years perfecting and working on this great show. It is our baby. We care about it deeply. I feel the current page was so untrue that I wanted to edit it to make it more realistic. A lot of the information is wrong. I feel someone who worked on the show should be in charge. My edit was with great intentions Merge8productions (talk) 17:26, 9 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

My username is called "productions" yes, but it is still one person. I started a production company years ago, but it is just me now. Merge8productions (talk) 17:28, 9 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Concerns

[edit]

Got my account yesterday and was really excited to get started, but already I have been viewed like some sort of vandal. Accused that my edits are bad and that my username is also bad. I'll forget about it all and move on, but it's a little ridiculous. I understand the motive, but it shouldn't be used against everyone. Innocent until proven guilty. I've yet to do anything wrong so don't treat me like I have and don't message me basically insinuating that you think I'm a troll. Thanks everyone. I hope we can move forward Merge8productions (talk) 17:40, 9 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry your feelings have been hurt... however, the messages you received were boilerplate messages that editors often use to inform others about problems with their contributions. With almost 6 million articles on English Wikipedia, it's not always possible for editors to leave personalized messages when problems arise. It is imperative that you assume good faith of the editors who have left you these messages, just as it's important for them to give you that same assumption.
One unbreakable rule on Wikipedia is that anything you add has to be verifiable, and that is done by citing reliable sources. A source is considered reliable if it is an independent, published source with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy. This heavily favours mainstream journalistic and academic sources. This also disqualifies a number of sources such as (but not limited to):
  • unpublished personal knowledge and experience (referred to here as original research)
  • subject-authored materials like press releases
  • interviews that consist largely of conversations with the subject
  • blogs, social media and other self-published sources consisting of user-generated content (this includes Wikipedia itself)
Basically if something hasn't appeared in a reliable source, even if you know or believe it to be true, it cannot exist on Wikipedia. Verifiability, not truth is what is desired here.
Your personal relationship with the subject also creates another problem: conflict of interest (COI). Even well-meaning editors can introduce unconscious bias when writing about a topic where they have a close personal or professional connection, because of the inherent difficulty they have in writing from the required neutral point of view. This is why we advise editors not to directly edit article where they have a COI. Instead, we advise them to suggest changes on the article talk page, using the {{request edit}} template. That attracts the attention of uninvolved editors, who can review the suggested changes and either publish them or recommend revisions.
I will leave a welcome message at the top of this page with several links that you should follow. This will help acclimate you to Wikipedia's (numerous) policies, guidelines and editing culture. Hopefully this bumpy start won't discourage you from becoming a constructive contributor. Best of luck. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 22:27, 9 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

My feelings were not hurt. I was simply pointing out that the "welcome" was not very welcoming and that there needs to be a better handling with new editors. It felt very "buzzkilly". I want to be able to edit without having to explain myself and have constant questioning of my moves. I will be very respectful believe me I have no plans on vandalism, but I just don't want to be watched every second. As a writer myself I have practiced and mastered unbias writing as it is my job. Some editors maybe unintentionally bias, but I am trained in having no bias and having respect for all people I write for. Everything appears to be okay. I'll see just feel things could have been conducted better, but doesn't matter. No "hurt feelings" (even comments like that seem like you are poking fun). It isn't about feelings it is simply about how people conduct themselves. As someone who has ran his own operation and a creative studio operation too much like how Wikipedia is a community of creatives I just assumed there would be more support and a fun environment, but I guess the welcome wasn't really that. I just don't like being monitored. I'm a creator I like to do my thing, but it's water under the bridge I appreciate it. I'm not upset or ranting at you just simply explaining my views. I guess I misunderstood. My bad. Thank you. Hope to make some good edits for this. No conflict of interest with the subject either. We don't talk much anymore. We never truly talked much. I respect her, but no bias. Anyways thank you for your concerns. Much appreciated :)

I also have a question regarding one edit I did. Just wondering why my Scorsese edit was removed. I had added some new info regarding movies that Scorsese was working on. I don't have a conflict of interest with Scorsese (I wish I knew him, but I ain't that lucky). Just wondering why it was removed. Doesn't matter that it was I just want to make sure I didn't do something wrong. I'm new to this so I just want to learn how to do it properly.

Merge8productions (talk) 23:47, 9 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The Martin Scorsese article is currently under pending changes protection, a tool used to suppress vandalism and certain other persistent problems, while allowing all users to continue to submit good-faith edits. This means that edits submitted by users are reviewed by another set of users with elevated privileges, and either approved or declined. In the page's edit history [1], you can see that your edit was declined for the following reason: Requires reliable citation. Referring back to my earlier posting, you need to provide a citation to a reliable source for this information to be included. The page Help:Referencing for beginners can show you how to include citations with your content. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 00:19, 10 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Does my reference count as Martin Scorsese confirming that he is doing these films? He has released a trailer for one of the films I mentioned then the other film has been revealed to the film community. Or do I need a specific news article? Merge8productions (talk) 00:33, 10 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You need to provide a link to a specific news story, from a reliable source. Without it, the information is considered unsourced. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 10:23, 10 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been blocked from editing Wikipedia with this username. This is because your username, Merge8productions, does not meet our username policy.
Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below) and continue editing.
A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.
You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines and create the account yourself. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:
  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} below. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "Email this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you think that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding {{unblock|Your reason here}} below this notice, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first.
Your username strongly implies shared usage even though you say it is now a one person business. That isn't permitted. Your username promotes your business. That isn't permitted either. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 07:27, 10 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

My username doesn't promote my business!. Merge 8 Productions no longer exists! It is simply a name to remember the good ol' days. Why is that a problem? Merge8productions (talk) 18:23, 10 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Above you wrote "My production company spent many years perfecting and working on this great show. It is our baby. We care about it deeply." These sentences are promotional and also indicate shared use of your account and a conflict of interest regarding some of the topics you wish to edit. That is why your username is a problem. This is all based in Wikipedia policy. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 21:27, 10 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I did write that. My company worked on the show back in the day when we WERE a company. We aren't a company anymore. It is just me. And that isn't promotion either. I was explaining to someone. That was not a promotion. It is just me. I can assure you I am one person. I think I would know if multiple people were on this account. My word is better than yours when I say only one person runs this account because I know the answer. So please don't assume and try to find hidden context. There isn't any. It is simply a name. Not a company anymore. Google Merge 8 I guarantee you won't find it. MY company hasn't existed for years. I am just one guy. It is simply a name and shouldn't be used to define what I do on the page. It is just a name doesn't have any hidden meaning. I understand your concern and appreciate that you want to make this site safe, but I can assure you it is simply a user name. If you continue to read above and read more replies you will see that I say "yes it is called productions, but it is just me now". I don't believe my username is against the guidelines and I don't think my words are enough to justify blocking me. Unfortunately I am not always great with words so saying "my production studio" meant my old production studio. I will be clearer in the future. So I can put your concern to rest. I would like to keep the username if that isn't a problem. It means a lot to me. Merge8productions (talk) 21:36, 10 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It is a problem, as I have already explained. I started a company 26 years ago called "Heaphy Associates" and for most of the years until I changed the company name, it was only me. I had one employee on the payroll for only a few months, and otherwise I used subcontractors. If I established a Wikipedia account called "Heaphy Associates", I would expect any other administrator to block that account on sight. The same applies to you. Your current username violates policy, and you simply cannot edit Wikipedia with that username. As an administrator, I am obligated to enforce policy. Please change it. What happens if I chose not to and I refuse to conform? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Merge8productions (talkcontribs)

You can file a formal unblock request using the instructions in the block notice above. Another uninvolved administrator will review the situation and make an independent decision as to whether or not the block I imposed was correct. If no other administrator agrees to unblock, then your account will remain blocked indefinitely. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 17:36, 11 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please see WP:AN#Please review this block. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 20:27, 11 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I included a discussion on my page that explains the importance of the name. I hope the new reviewer takes time to read it Merge8productions (talk) 00:23, 12 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

the importance of a name

[edit]

MERGE 8 no longer exists. So this isn't a promotion. What would I be promoting?. Can't promote a dead company. I always had a love for films. Wanting to do so one day. As a young guy in California I struggled to make it. Selling myself out and joining a poor company I felt unmotivated. When a friend told me "just start your own man. Or Else!". Words I won't forget. The following week was tough as I drew up blueprints of my ideal company. I got a copyright on a name and began. The copyright to a name that would become so important that when asked to change it I would refuse. You see Merge 8 was no company it was a symbol and a family. It was a belief that no matter what happened at least we would always have dreams. When wanting to start Merge 8 it was a shot in the dark. 0 belief that it would work, but we tried. It became a name that for us would represent the no give up attitude. Unfortunately for friend X his demons were never far behind. Nearly 3 years after Merge 8 began, friend X lost his life to unnatural causes. friend X (I won't say his name because conflict of interest I think) was always the sole believer in Merge 8, but shortly after Merge 8 went in the dumps and we lost it. Merge 8 is not a company. It is just a name of something that is long gone. Something that friend X believed in. It is a name I use time to time for security questions or for accounts. It is simply a name from something special in my life. A name to which I feel I should not be blocked on Wikipedia for.Hope you can understand why I don't want to change the name.ThanksMerge8productions (talk) 00:21, 12 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Four administrators now agree that your current username violates policy, and none disagree. If you want to continue editing Wikipedia, you must change your username to something that complies with policy. Period. End of story. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 04:31, 13 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

That isn't the end of story unfortunately. You said someone else would review. I could make up 4 administrators. Where are they? Get them to comment then. I want someone else to deal with me not you. You make zero sense and haven't truly given an example as to why my account violates. Have you even read anything I've said? Want to talk about conflict of interest? How about you? Block you for conflict of interest. You have a conflict of interest and should be taken off this case. Your conflict of interest? You clearly dislike me therefore you are bias to want to get rid of me. I want those other 4 administration to comment. If 4 administrators comment and prove that you are telling the truth then I will change my name no problem, but until then... Story ain't ended. Thanks Cullen :) been a pleasure dealing with you. Onto a new advisor please. Best regards Merge 8 PRODUCTIONS Merge8productions (talk) 07:23, 13 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This thread is where four other administrators gave Cullen a thumbs up for the block. That means I'm the fifth.
You accusing Cullen of having a conflict of interest is too asinine a tantrum to even qualify as a Tu quoque. Cullen's pretty professional, so whatever he thinks about you as a person has nothing to do with this account being blocked -- but that said, you have to realize your reaction doesn't exactly encourage others to welcome you. Ian.thomson (talk) 11:52, 13 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

What reaction? I guess it wasn't encouraging to welcome me because nobody has welcomed me. The second I logged on everyone found problems with my username and the blocked. This has all been conducted in a poor manner. He doesn't seem professional to me, but you do so I will take your word. And consider changing my name. Merge8productions (talk) 16:59, 13 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello I have read the thread and I see one advisor. This advisor seems very professional I wish they would have been the one dealing with me from the start. I can assure you however like the advisor said I am not trolling. They say that newbies don't usually handle themselves in that way, but as someone who has done business and knows how business is usually handled some parts of this felt unprofessional so I spoke out. However after having read the thread. I will consider changing the name or filing a formal unblock request. Merge8productions (talk) 17:12, 13 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Click this link. That you missed it before, or that you somehow thought that those were all the same people, raises concerns about your ability to cooperate. Ian.thomson (talk) 21:21, 13 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Not my ability to cooperate. I missed it. I see now. People make mistakes Merge8productions (talk) 00:17, 14 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

New reviewer

[edit]

I have many concerns regarding a conflict of interest that has been on my page. Consistently spamming me and bothering me. It is quite bothersome and would like someone to look into removing this individual from seeing my page and interacting with me. They have shown much distaste to me and disregard for me. It is disrespectful in how this individual carries themself and it would be nice to know that Wikipedia cracks down on the real vandals. Nobody is above the law even if they work with the website. This spam is quite disrespectful and the individual has used their power on this site to put me down and I don't think it is professional that they are using their power against me. Could an administrator please look into this and remove the individual from my page. Again as always kindest regards from Merge 8 Merge8productions (talk) 07:29, 13 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think that phrase means what you think it means. Did you try looking at WP:Conflict of interest to understand what the term means? Cullen isn't named after a company and isn't fighting to keep the name of a company.
And if you don't want administrators interacting with you on this site, your only real option is to stop using the site.
It is disrespectful in how this individual carries themself -- You really need to read WP:Assume good faith and understand that you've completely failed to do that. Ian.thomson (talk) 11:53, 13 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I am not named after a company either. You need to read the words "it is just a name" and understand what they mean. I get your concerns, but I also never stated it was the user Cullen. I actually was pretty careful to not state a name as I felt it was unnecessary to call someone out. May I ask how to change my username? Merge8productions (talk) 17:02, 13 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

In this earlier version of your user page, what exactly did you mean by your "upcoming projects"...?
Instructions on how to change your username were already provided. You need to read the messages that people leave you. Ian.thomson (talk) 22:01, 13 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

My upcoming projects I simply meant I have things I alone am working on and was wondering if I could make pages for them. I now see that is against the rules and not allowed.yes someone did send me a link on how to change it, but it has become lost in these constant messages. I am trying to cooperate. You have wanted me to change my name this whole time and now I am finally going to. Why have you become so nasty? You have quite the attitude. I am trying to cooperate and have asked you a simple question on how to change it and if you get upset by that simple question then I apologize. But me simply asking how to change my username does not require you getting annoyed. I am trying to cooperate with you, but you need to be professional and an adult (as you said) and meet me halfway. I will change my name, but there is no need for that thanks. So I would appreciate if you could tell me how to change my name. Thanks you I hope you do because it would make these conversations end and believe me that will be a relief for both of us because you are upset with me and I am growing upset with you Merge8productions (talk) 00:30, 14 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

See WP:COI and WP:NOTPROMO for why that'd be a bad idea. Ian.thomson (talk) 00:52, 14 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Society Conforming

[edit]

Often in life many individuals are forced to conform. At times conforming might be as simple as following rules and at other times conforming may be giving away certain creative freedom to allow others to be in full control. It may include giving up something as simple as a name or clothing and endless people fighting until you do so. Going out of their way to make you conform. They will state it is their rules, but just because it is rules does not mean it is right necessarily. The individuals will use their power to force you to conform. Refusing to meet your demands until you change. It is these regimes that individuals must stand against. Merge8productions (talk) 17:06, 13 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Look, if you're not interested in properly appealing, we can just revoke talk page access.
Frankly, it's disgusting that you treat this minor inconvenience with institutional racism.
If you don't stop acting like a drama llama and start acting like an adult interested in a cooperative project, we will show you the door. Ian.thomson (talk) 22:45, 13 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Excuse me?! I wasn't even talking about your page in this discussion. Revoke my talk page access? Please don't threaten me that is not needed this discussion is not about you or your website. This discussion isn't even about your page. And where does it imply racism? Conforming is beyond racism. Don't try and twist my words to benefit you. this post is not about racism and not about you. Racism can sometimes be a part of conforming, but never did I mention racism. This article doesn't even refer to wikipedia. Not everything I say is about this site. It is disgusting that you brought racism into it. Conforming is more than just racism. This wasn't about you even. That is the disgusting part. Please don't take everything so personal. Please don't be a drama llama thank you. You have been nice up until this point, but now you are getting on my nerves with these insinuations that I am always dissing you. I am not. Merge8productions (talk) 00:22, 14 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Also I AM interested in properly appealing and I have tried to appeal the block, but for some reason it did not work. I will try again and I am trying to deal with the block and change my username. Thank you for your concerns, but I am going about it now and you can remove yourself from dealing with me, but before you do I just need a link where I can change my username with. Thanks :) Merge8productions (talk) 00:45, 14 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Once again, the instructions have already been provided earlier, if you would just read and follow them. That you seem more focused on looking for anything to complain about and blow out of proportion instead of doing that raises concerns about your willingness or capacity to be useful to the project. Ian.thomson (talk) 00:51, 14 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Reblocked

[edit]

I have reblocked you without talk page access for the following reason: Time wasting or trolling or general WP:NOTHERE behaviour on talk after original soft username block, converting to hard block without TPA. You are no longer free to create a new account. If you do, it too will be blocked. If you wish to appeal, you may do so through WP:UTRS. TonyBallioni (talk) 00:58, 14 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A new unblock request, a year later

[edit]

You have recently posted an unblock request at UTRS, where you seemed to me to show a much more positive approach than you did a year ago, so I am well-disposed to your request, and TonyBallioni, the blocking administrator, has said that he has no objection to unblocking. However, both Tony and I think it would be better for you to post your request here, where it can be seen, so I have restored your talk page access, to allow you to post an unblock request here. JBW (talk) 21:49, 14 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Unblock Request

[edit]

Hi, there. Thank you for the opportunity. I was told by JBW? Or JDW (sorry I forgot) that it would be preferable to submit my unblock request here. I appreciate you allowing me to take this further and giving me the opportunity to prove myself via unblocking my talk page. To summarize a little bit of what was went over in the prior request submitted: I apologized for my stupid and outlandish actions, frankly they were childish. After some review (and an entire year) I have decided to come back to Wikipedia as I realize now what truly went on. I revisited the old discussions for fun one day and realized how truly ignorant I was acting. So through this I hope to allow the past events NOT to be an indication of my character when associating with Wikipedia and my hope is that my actions of the future can help to reaffirm that statement. Thank you, Sincerely M (and the name is also able to be changed, as I understand that was the original argument in the first place, and I have no issue with changing it and would gladly comply). My other request was a lot more in depth into what I did wrong. I just figured it would be JBW reviewing this one as well, but if a new reviewer is looking over this let me know and I could gladly lay out in more detail what occurred and my intentions behind my unblock request. Thanks.

Thank you for your time and again, the opportunity. Merge8productions (talk) 16:14, 28 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • By a remarkable lucky chance I checked your talk page to see if you had posted here, not long after you posted here. It could easily have happened that nobody ever saw your message here, or if they did it could have been months away in the future. When you were originally blocked you were given instructions on how to request an unblock by posting a template to this page. Doing that adds your user name to a list of unblock requests for administrators to check; what you did did not add you to that list, so there was no guarantee that any administrator would ever see it.
  • As I have already said at UTRS, you now show a quite different approach than you did before, and in the course of a year it is perfectly possible for people to significantly change, so I am perfectly willing to unblock your account, except that your user name is still a problem, for several reasons. My original draft of this message explained those reasons in some detail, but then I decided that there is no point in giving such a detailed account, because the simple fact of the matter is that if I were to unblock you under your present user name it is almost certain that quite soon you would be blocked again by another administrator, for having a username which appears to represent a business, whether it actually does or not.
  • In view of those considerations, I ask you to submit an unblock request offering to have your user name changed. To do that, post the following at the bottom of this page: {{unblock-un|your new username here}}, replacing "your new username here" with a new user name you are willing to use. To avoid wasting your time making a request that is not going to work because the user name is already in use, I suggest checking the name you are thinking of using at https://steinsplitter.toolforge.org/uv/index.php before you submit your unblock/rename request. JBW (talk) 20:48, 28 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Great thanks so much JBW. If possible I would still like to use “Merge 8” as it doesn’t really have affiliation with a company, but I am 100% ok with the removal of productions as the company no longer exists and I shouldn’t have a connection to a company on here anyways. If you want something different then Merge 8 I am sure I can come up with something Merge8productions (talk) 20:58, 28 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi “Yamla” if you don’t mind would you be able to elaborate on what you mean by “no obviously not” I am a little confused as to what you are referring to whether it is something wrong with my username or something else. Merge8productions (talk) 21:01, 28 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Obviously it's not for me to say what Yamla meant, as he can speak for himself, but it seems to me that the new user name still clearly refers to a company, even though it doesn't have the word "productions" in it, just as "Microsoft" would obviously refer to a company, even though it doesn't say "Microsoft Corporation", which is the actual name of the company. In view of everything that has been said at UTRS and here, I am willing to unblock you to give you another chance. I hope you will manage to avoid making mistakes like those you made in the past, so that you don't become blocked again. I will rename your account. When I have done that, if you try to log in under your old user name you will get a message telling you that you have entered the wrong user name or password. That's no problem, as you just have to log in with the new user name, and still the same password as before. JBW (talk) 21:49, 28 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Merge8productions (talk) 21:04, 28 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Great, thank you so much JBW. You were very cooperative and I appreciate it, further proving I judged Wikipedia unfairly in the past. And thank you for clarifying what Yamla meant, I had a feeling that is what he was referring to and I can totally see why that is an issue. Merge8productions (talk) 21:56, 28 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

As you can see, I have renamed your account from "Merge8productions" to "M403g". JBW (talk) 21:58, 28 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for picking a username unrelated to Merge8 Productions! That was indeed what I meant. --Yamla (talk) 22:08, 28 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No problem Yamla, I appreciate letting me know, otherwise I probably wouldn’t have changed it and been unblocked so thank you. M403g (talk) 22:16, 28 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Chadwick Boseman

[edit]

Chadwick Boseman was an extreme talent to be admired, you could tell that he was particular with his roles, he wanted them to mean something. He cared about the characters and stories he brought to screen, this is why I believe he played Jackie Robinson and James Brown with such class and elegance, with Black Panther he immortalized his career, creating a character and hero that a new generation could aspire to be. Chadwick Boseman was always very classy and humble when he praised his fellow cast mates you could tell he meant it. 42 and Black Panther Actor Chadwick Boseman has passed away at the age of 43, he will be missed and the legacy he has left on film is one to be admired by many for generations to come, Thank You Chadwick. M403g (talk) 03:37, 29 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Well said. I think you illustrated your words poignantly and eloquently. He will be missed dearly. GreenFrogsGoRibbit (talk) 09:53, 29 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@M403g: Very true. Maybe post this on your user page? This page is for people to give you messages, not for you to write messages. Of course, you can leave it on here if you want, but it might be more visible on your user page. ping me when responding (by writing {{ping|TheKaloo}}), gràcies! TheKaloo talk 20:51, 29 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@TheKaloo:) If I’m being completely honest, I don’t know how to use my user page. Talk is the only one I seem to have been able to comprehend properly lol, I will figure it out and do so. Thanks M403g (talk) 00:11, 30 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@TheKaloo:) I also just figured maybe it wasn’t something I was allowed to post on my user page as a Conflict of Interest or as it may seem I was putting my own personal views of a person on there, but it is good to know that that is ok so thank you very much :) M403g (talk) 00:13, 30 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@M403g: no worries! All the policies are complicated, but I suggest reading WP:UP which explains it much better then I ever could. It explains the rules surrounding it. The talk page help can be found here WP:TP. Try looking at others wikipages to see how one looks. ping me when responding, gràcies! TheKaloo talk 00:27, 30 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Question regarding images

Warning recieved my apologies. I have done a few disruptive edits today unintentionally pls regard them and understand them under this warning and don’t see them as further offences Merr4 (talk) 17:47, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Only do tests like this in the sandbox or your own userspace pages. Any more like this will almost certainly get you indefinitely blocked. Thanks, SpinningCeres 17:48, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing to prevent further vandalism.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Writ Keeper  18:18, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I was told I had a warning? And so I stopped editing. @SpinningCereswas very friendly and helpful about it and understanding and I agreed with him it would not happen and now it appears you have come in after the fact @Writ Keeper and blocked me. I would encourage you to pay attention to the prior conversations. No harm done I understand you may have missed it, but the situation was taken care of no need to come in after the fact and block me to try and correct it when I was told I had a warning and listened. please revise your decision thanks :) Merr4 (talk) 18:20, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
At the very least I would like to discuss this with you and come to an understanding rather than being blocked with little explanation as to why. It was explained why I could be blocked and I listened so now the reasons for being blocked after the warning become unclear. I look forward to discussing. Merr4 (talk) 18:23, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, no. Writ Keeper  18:24, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This is very unreasonable and a rather unprofessional response making me question the legitimacy of you and your ability to be able to block people. This response accompanied by the fact you blocked me after the situation was handled feels akin to that of a teenager or young kid being given free roam of the house for the weekend. @SpinningCereshi there, as it seems this random person is looking to block me without explanation in a rather childish fashion I was hoping I could continue to deal with you instead. Merr4 (talk) 18:31, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Not only does it feel unprofessional but your page confirms as much. Most wikipedia users I have dealt with have a thorough page that details their work done at Wikipedia and the things they’ve accomplished. Yours does not, again bringing into question your validity and if you should really be in charge of blocking me considering your only source is a link to a TikTok. Merr4 (talk) 18:33, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Writ Keeperon top of all this it also appears YOU removed a few topics from my talk page that were not in regard to this subject at all, which would be fairly ironic considering that is what you claim to be blocking me for? Merr4 (talk) 18:35, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Have a good day sir @Writ Keeper like I said earlier no harm done, I understand you are trying to do your job and my edits were disruptive BUT it was the fixing of those edits and then you continuing to block me after the fact and the failure to work with me in providing an explanation that caused the annoyance. I apologize. Merr4 (talk) 18:41, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You know what was wrong with the edit I linked to above before you posted it. I'm not sure what you misunderstood about what SpinningCereshi wrote about how you may be blocked from editing without further notice, but that's exactly what happened. Writ Keeper  18:49, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I didn’t misunderstand anything about what they posted. Have a good day pal.

"Your unblock request is clearly abusive and demonstrates the need to leave you blocked. And no, we have no intention of changing the block to grant you access to your talk page but nothing else. How on earth would that help the Wikipedia project?"

I concur with that assessment. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 13:06, 12 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

"Thank you for using the Unblock Ticket Request System. I'm sorry, but I cannot unblock you. Please describe concisely and clearly how your edits merited a block, what you would do differently, and what constructive edits you would make. Please read Wikipedia's Guide to appealing blocks for more information. (https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Guide_to_appealing_blocks). The UTRS software may lock you out for a day or two. Please use this time to review your talk page and the reasons for your block, and to consider how you will address these reasons. Best," -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 13:08, 12 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Deepfriedokra 2023-12-12 13:04:09 I will post previous replies to your talk page. No idea why declines of ineffectual unblock requests would count as a reason to unblock you. It is indeed a shame your father is denied the joy of editing Wikipedia because of your misdeeds.
  • Deepfriedokra 2023-12-12 13:15:34 The only condition under which you would receive talk page access would be if you made so convincing an unblock request that we would allow you to carry it over to your talk page. So, I'm afraid that won't happen under current conditions. This is your third ineffectual thread to UTRS. Don't be surprised if you find yourself banned from UTRS. Once again, please describe concisely and clearly how your edits merited a block, what you would do differently, and what constructive edits you would make. Please read Wikipedia's Guide to appealing blocks for more information. (https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Guide_to_appealing_blocks). You can modify this request to do so, but the system might lock you out for a day or two first. You can modify this request after the system lock out expires. Deepfriedokra 2023-12-12 13:17:36 Indeed. Your reasoning for being unblocked does not in anyway address the behavior that led to your block. I'll leave this open a while before I release i
