Mentorship

[edit]

The Revision History of Wikipedia:Mentorship records your participation the article's development; and for this reason, I am reaching out to you.

Please consider reviewing my edit at Wikipedia:Mentorship#Unintended consequences. In the search for a mentor deemed acceptable by ArbCom, I plan to cite this as a useful context for discussing what I have in mind. --Tenmei (talk) 21:50, 14 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Template:uw-lblock

[edit]

While I do not care either way about the text you do not like in {{uw-lblock}}, is 19 hours really enough time to effectively gage consensus? Regardless, it can hardly be called an urgent issue since the section in question has been part of the template for nearly two years. — Kralizec! (talk) 05:36, 28 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have responded to your talk page. Warm regards, NonvocalScream (talk) 05:49, 28 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
As I indicated before, I really do not care either way on this issue, which is why I have not expressed an opinion in the discussion at WT:UTM. However I would like to make sure that we follow established process for making changes. As such, the last time I checked, Wikipedia:Consensus was official policy, and the issue at hand does not appear to fall under the exemptions at WP:CONEXCEPT. Regarding your statement on urgency, would anyone really feel this is an urgent matter 109 weeks after it was first added? — Kralizec! (talk) 17:09, 28 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The issue is not one of consensus, but of misinformation. The info-en team does not handle legal threats. There are three OTRS volunteers on that page saying that legal threats are not within our purview, plus myself on this page; they should be addressing the Foundation in writing, not e-mailing our OTRS queue. It implies that OTRS volunteers have a special dispensation by the Foundation to handle these, which we absolutely do not. It should never have been added in the first place. Best, PeterSymonds (talk) 18:25, 28 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Reviewer permission

[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 22:33, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. NonvocalScream (talk) 22:33, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:Isis Finlay.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Isis Finlay.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 06:05, 2 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The History section is a copyvio, but I am unable to find any location that any of the other information is copied from. I'm editing to remove the G12 and changing it to just the section.Naraht (talk) 20:53, 3 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

When I google search parts of the article with quotes... the results are telling. Best, NonvocalScream (talk) 21:23, 3 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Note, the section after History was also a copyvio so I deleted it as well. My general feeling is that if there is an infobox for the organization, that it has had enough information pieces pulled out that it isn't a full article copyvio. Whether it is non-primary referenced is another question. I'll try to secondary reference it with Baird's Manual of American College Fraternities over the next couple of days. I did try googling the phrase "the first student members of the society were Elinor B. Watson and Robert Sloan" and "which were unwilling to charter a chapter at Fairmont State College" and didn't get anything for either that appeared to be other than a copy of wikipedia.Naraht (talk) 18:46, 4 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Credo Reference Update & Survey (your opinion requested)

[edit]

Credo Reference, who generously donated 400 free Credo 250 research accounts to Wikipedia editors over the past two years, has offered to expand the program to include 100 additional reference resources. Credo wants Wikipedia editors to select which resources they want most. So, we put together a quick survey to do that:

It also asks some basic questions about what you like about the Credo program and what you might want to improve.

At this time only the initial 400 editors have accounts, but even if you do not have an account, you still might want to weigh in on which resources would be most valuable for the community (for example, through WikiProject Resource Exchange).

Also, if you have an account but no longer want to use it, please leave me a note so another editor can take your spot.

If you have any other questions or comments, drop by my talk page or email me at wikiocaasi@yahoo.com. Cheers! Ocaasi t | c 17:26, 11 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

WikiMedicine

[edit]

Hi

I'm contacting you because, as a participant at Wikiproject Medicine, you may be interested in a new multinational non-profit organization we're forming at m:Wikimedia Medicine. Even if you don't want to be actively involved, any ideas you may have about our structure and aims would be very welcome on the project's talk page.

Our purpose is to help improve the range and quality of free online medical content, and we'll be working with like-minded organizations, such as the World Health Organization, professional and scholarly societies, medical schools, governments and NGOs - including Translators Without Borders.

Hope to see you there! --Anthonyhcole (talk) 07:25, 9 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The Wikipedia Library now offering accounts from Cochrane Collaboration (sign up!)

[edit]

The Wikipedia Library gets Wikipedia editors free access to reliable sources that are behind paywalls. Because you are signed on as a medical editor, I thought you'd want to know about our most recent donation from Cochrane Collaboration.

  • Cochrane Collaboration is an independent medical nonprofit organization that conducts systematic reviews of randomized controlled trials of health-care interventions, which it then publishes in the Cochrane Library.
  • Cochrane has generously agreed to give free, full-access accounts to 100 medical editors. Individual access would otherwise cost between $300 and $800 per account.
  • If you are still active as a medical editor, come and sign up :)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. Your inactive bot(s)

[edit]

Hello NonvocalScream. We currently show that you are the operator on file for at least one bot account that appears to be inactive. Please see the discussion and list of bots here: Wikipedia:Bot owners' noticeboard#Inactive bots over 5 years. If you are no longer operating your bot, no action is required - your bot will be marked as retired and have the bot flag removed. Should your bot be retired and you wish to revive it in the future, please request bot authorization at WP:BRFA. If you are still in control of your bot (including knowing its hopefully strong password) and wish to maintain the bot flag, please sign the table on the linked discussion.
