Four million

Hi. You appear to have created the four millionth article with Izbat Al Borg. Congratulations, and enjoy the attention you and your article gets over the next few days. :-) Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 14:28, 13 July 2012 (UTC)

Thank you. --Meno25 (talk) 14:30, 13 July 2012 (UTC)
Congratulations! It's great to see an article about Egypt being the four millionth article. Thanks a lot for all your contributions to Wikipedia. All the best, and thank you again. --Frank Schulenburg (talk) 03:16, 14 July 2012 (UTC)
Thank you, sir. Your words mean a lot to me. --Meno25 (talk) 09:22, 14 July 2012 (UTC)
Congratulations, good sir. I'm always pleased in general to see someone I've worked with many years ago is still around. To also got the four million mark? Good show. Take care. Keegan (talk) 17:04, 15 July 2012 (UTC)

Fine choice on an Egyptian city and so symbolic that we're missing cities with 70,000. I would be interested in compiling some missing articles on Egyptian towns and starting them.♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:56, 13 July 2012 (UTC)

DYK for job attitude and cognitive vulnerability

Greetings I was wondering if you can look over the nomination for Job attitude. This nomination was pending before the request for other articles. So I was wondering if you can glance it. All of the other admins in the page are OK with the article. They cant recommend it because they fixed stuff to it. All of the errors are fixed and there is no copyediting at all. The request for this article has already been posted on the WT:DYK however people are not taking action. My class is ending for the APS project and this being in the DYK can really help out alot of things on my campus. Also, Cognitive vulnerability content is being misunderstood, kindly add in your two cents to this article nomination if you can. Thanks in advance. Khyati Gupta (talk) 01:55, 13 August 2012 (UTC)

One more task

Hello Meno, It's so nice to see you here too. My bot already has bot flag here, it's only task is interwiki (see my request). I want to add one more task: Fixing double redirects. Should I make a new request or what? Thanks.--Avocato (talk) 01:35, 6 September 2012 (UTC)

Hi. You have a global bot flag and global bots are allowed to fix double redirects. However the local policy does not explicitly say so. Personally I would send an active BAG member a message to check before operating the bot. --Meno25 (talk) 08:07, 6 September 2012 (UTC)

قالب:معطيات

Thanks , I am not sure what is happening but is there any way to change the words قالب:معطيات to قالب:Country data, I am trying to get rid of the red links as much as I can. --Ghaly (talk) 18:27, 16 September 2012 (UTC)

Hi. There are two ways to do this. The hard way is to import all these templates from Arabic Wikipedia, and the easy way is to make this edit. Note that due to caching some pages may display the old behavior. A null edit should fix such pages. --Meno25 (talk) 18:37, 16 September 2012 (UTC)
Thanks, I am not going to import any templates from arwiki as this can cause other issues. I will continue with the redirects. --Ghaly (talk) 19:00, 16 September 2012 (UTC)

Broken table

Hi, with this edit you added an unnecessary heading inside a table, which broke the page layout. --Redrose64 (talk) 19:02, 20 September 2012 (UTC)

Good catch. Thank you for fixing this. --Meno25 (talk) 19:25, 20 September 2012 (UTC)

wgPrependCategoryInCategoriesSpecialPages

Hello,

Thank you for your suggestion.

I prepared the technical side of it. I created a new setting, $wgPrependCategoryInCategoriesSpecialPages to determine if the namespace prefix should or not be included in the title. This code change will be reviewed and considered for merge into the core. As this isn't a critical matter, this could take a little time (some days to some weeks).

Meanwhile, could you launch a discussion on en.wikipedia to determine if this setting should be enabled or let disabled?

We require a local consensus on a wiki to apply a configuration change, as it's the responsibility of the community as a whole to select its configuration. With maybe a dissonant argument: UI should be as most as possible to be coherent in every wikis. In this case, the matter should be evaluated and if judged non trivial, bring to meta. But a discussion on a big wiki could get enough usability feedback to see what the best setting according the community could be.

I guess a straw poll would be nice, but you're the en.wikipedia expert. --Dereckson (talk) 08:28, 23 September 2012 (UTC)

Thank you, sir, for your effort and the quick response. I will start a discussion about this issue today. --Meno25 (talk) 12:16, 23 September 2012 (UTC)

Thank you. I am currently using AWB 5.4.0.1. I will test again to see if the bugs I reported still exist. --Meno25 (talk) 13:06, 25 September 2012 (UTC)
Thanks. I suspect the bug is related with Left-to-right mark which I hope I fixed in rev 8422. I can email you the latest version if you like. -- Magioladitis (talk) 13:08, 25 September 2012 (UTC)
The bug still exists in SVN 8414. I would be happy if you e-mailed me the latest version. Thank you. --Meno25 (talk) 13:10, 25 September 2012 (UTC)
I sent it to you. Please try and leave a message here. -- Magioladitis (talk) 13:15, 25 September 2012 (UTC)

AWB task

Hi Meno25 - could you confirm whether you are actually reviewing the project ratings as you note in your edit summary, or simply removing the auto=yes field? The reason I ask is because there have been a few times where your AWB edits pop up on my watchlist and you have confirmed an article as a stub, but they are Start class according to Wikipedia:WikiProject Biography/Assessment#Qaulity scale.--Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 22:34, 13 October 2012 (UTC)

Hi. Yes. However, due to the volume of my edits (many thousands) I expect there are a few errors. I will try to be more careful in the future. --Meno25 (talk) 15:56, 14 October 2012 (UTC)
Ok, if I notice any discrepancies in the ones that pop up on my watch list I'll just update them manually. --Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 16:35, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
Thank you. I am pleased to know you. --Meno25 (talk) 07:54, 16 October 2012 (UTC)

Can you please reconfirm a bug report?

Can you please try to reconfirm Wikipedia:AWB/B#AWB_fails_to_sort_interwiki_links_correctly_from_the_first_time? I tried to duplicated it and I failed. Please use latest snapshot. -- Magioladitis (talk) 13:10, 31 October 2012 (UTC)

Call for Wikipedians in Residence in Africa

Hello,

I hope you are well and thriving!! WikiAfrica has just put out a call for two Wikipedians in Residence. One in Cape Town at WikiAfrica, at the Africa Centre; and the other for WikiAfrica Cameroon in Douala, at doual’art. If you are interested, please contact either Marilyn [marilyn.doualabell@doualart.org] for the WikiAfrica Cameroon call or Isla [islahf@africacentre.net] for the WikiAfrica position in Cape Town.

If you are not interested in applying, I would be very grateful if you could spread this call far and wide among your networks to ensure that both projects get excellent candidates. Here is the link for the information page: http://www.wikiafrica.net/two-wikipedians-in-residence-for-africa/

Best regards, Islahaddow

Uncategorized

Shouldn't the uncategorised category generated by the template in arz wiki be hidden? -- Magioladitis (talk) 11:03, 20 November 2012 (UTC)

I made the uncategorized category hidden and this solved the problem. --Meno25 (talk) 10:22, 21 November 2012 (UTC)

I created underlinked as redirect to wikify in arz and ar wikis

Should I create the same rules for autotagging of arwiki to arzwiki too? -- Magioladitis (talk) 09:57, 25 November 2012 (UTC)

Yes, please. However note that the stub template on arzwiki is arz:قالب:تقاوى. --Meno25 (talk) 09:05, 26 November 2012 (UTC)
All the other names/rules are the same with ar.wiki? -- Magioladitis (talk) 09:46, 26 November 2012 (UTC)
{{uncategorized}} is arz:قالب:بدون تصنيف, {{orphan}} is arz:قالب:يتيمه, {{Disambiguation}} is arz:قالب:توضيح. Other templates are the same. Thank you. --Meno25 (talk) 09:57, 26 November 2012 (UTC)
rev 8717 adds tagging for arzwiki. Can you please check the code and tell me which changes you need? -- Magioladitis (talk) 13:46, 1 December 2012 (UTC)
Thank you. There are a few notes on SVN 8718:
  1.  Done In edit summary, "added" should be "زود"
  2.  Done In edit summary when tagging the article as orphan, "قالب" is wrong. It should be "يتيمه" [1]
  3.  Done AWB tags orphan articles with "يتيمة" whereas it should tag them with "يتيمه". Anyway I created arz:قالب:يتيمة as a redirect to arz:قالب:يتيمه.
  4.  Done The "date" parameter in templates should be "تاريخ". For example, [2] "{{يتيمة|date=ديسمبر 2012}}" should be "{{يتيمه|تاريخ=ديسمبر 2012}}"
  5.  Done AWB tags stub articles with "قالب" whereas the correct template is arz:قالب:تقاوى (equivalent of {{stub}}) [3]
  6.  Done AWB repeatedly tags articles although that the intended tags are already on the page. For examples, it tags arz:شبكات الموبايل فى المانيا with "يتيمة" and "قالب" although that the templates are already in the page. [4] [5] --Meno25 (talk) 11:08, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
rev 8719 done 2 and 3. For every change I make please double-check! -- Magioladitis (talk) 14:22, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
2 and 3 verified OK. Sorry for bothering you with all these requests. --Meno25 (talk) 14:37, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
You don't bother me. I enjoy working for Arabic languages. -- Magioladitis (talk) 14:38, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
rev 8720 done 5. It should also fix double tagging for stubs. -- Magioladitis (talk) 14:39, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
rev 8721 done 4. It should fix double tagging in general. For dead-end I use the Arabic word. A redirect should be created. -- Magioladitis (talk) 14:46, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
rev 8722 done 1. We also need "removed" and "tag" or "tags". -- Magioladitis (talk) 14:51, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
Thank you. I am testing them now. "removed" is "شال", "tag" is "وسم", "tags" is "وسوم". --Meno25 (talk) 15:02, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
rev 8723 "removed". "Tags" was already there. -- Magioladitis (talk) 15:14, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
rev 8724 LinkFGAs for arzwiki. -- Magioladitis (talk) 15:18, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
Edit summary:
  1.  Done "added" = "زود" (currently it is set to "أزود")
  2.  Done "removed" = "شال"
  3. "tag" = "وسم"
  4.  Done "tags" = "وسوم"
  12. "empty section" = "قسم فاضى"
Templates:
  1.  Done {{Wikify}} = arz:قالب:ويكى
  2.  Done {{dead end}} = arz:قالب:نهايه مسدوده
  3.  Done {{orphan}} = arz:قالب:يتيمه
  4.  Done {{stub}} = arz:قالب:تقاوى
  5.  Done {{uncategorized stub}} = arz:قالب:تقاوى مش متصنفه
  6. {{empty section}} = arz:قالب:قسم فاضى
  7.  Done {{Link FA}} = arz:قالب:لينك مقاله مختاره
  8.  Done {{Link GA}} = arz:قالب:لينك مقاله جيده
That's every thing I guess. I will now create missing templates in arzwiki and test AWB for each one of the above. --Meno25 (talk) 15:31, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
rev 8725 I added most of them. -- Magioladitis (talk) 15:56, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
rev 8726 I added everything but empty section which is still enwiki only. -- Magioladitis (talk) 16:04, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
Thank you. There is a problem in rev 8725 here. Could you change the following line
WPAWB = "عن طريق اوب [[Project:AWB|AWB]]";

to

WPAWB = "عن طريق [[Project:AWB|اوب]]";

--Meno25 (talk) 16:05, 2 December 2012 (UTC)

 Fixed rev 8726 -- Magioladitis (talk) 16:08, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
Thank you. SVN 8726 looks good to me. One last problem: repeated tagging of arz:قالب:نهايه مسدوده [6] [7] (Issue 6 in SVN 8718 above) --Meno25 (talk) 16:16, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
The only tag repeatedly added is the arz wiki version of dead end? (check 8726) -- Magioladitis (talk) 16:18, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
Up till now, yes. I will test AWB on more pages in the coming days and tell you if there is any. --Meno25 (talk) 16:23, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
It is only the dead end. The arzwiki dead end needs to be added to the interwikis of Template:Dead end for starts. -- Magioladitis (talk) 17:03, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
I added the interwiki and the problem persists. --Meno25 (talk) 17:15, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
I didn't claim it will fix it :) -- Magioladitis (talk) 17:25, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
According to the code. The same bugs exists in arwiki too. -- Magioladitis (talk) 17:29, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
rev 8728 fixes the bug. (point 6 above) -- Magioladitis (talk) 17:39, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
Rev 8728 did fix it. Thank you. --Meno25 (talk) 18:08, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
Next bug: If "wikify" in English exists, it will add one more tag in Arz. -- Magioladitis (talk) 18:05, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
Is it OK if I replace all "wikify" with the arz version? -- Magioladitis (talk) 18:13, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
I am not sure. Doing mass replacements on a low volume wiki such as arzwiki using a non-bot account may annoy other users. Better to check with a local admin first. --Meno25 (talk) 18:18, 2 December 2012 (UTC)

Minor quibble with bot edit...

This edit. The quibble is that the bot added the Underlinked template (few links) when the page already had the Dead End template (no links). Already having a template that said the page had no links is already implying that there are too few. Adding the second template is a bit of over-templating, IMHO. - TexasAndroid (talk) 19:20, 4 December 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for reporting this. I submitted a bug report to AWB folks. --Meno25 (talk) 19:30, 4 December 2012 (UTC)
Bug fixed. Since rev 8782 underlinked/dead end tags are mutually excluded. -- Magioladitis (talk) 14:16, 6 December 2012 (UTC)

List of pitchers to strike out four or more batters in one inning

what did you change on the page exactly. -The Obi (talk)

If you mean this edit, then I added an {{uncategorized}} tag. --Meno25 (talk) 09:29, 5 December 2012 (UTC)

not both underlinked and deadend

In this edit your bot added both "underlinked" and "deadend" tags. They are mutually exclusive, so please don't add them both as it just clutters the article. PamD 15:10, 5 December 2012 (UTC)

Just noticed the item above is about the same problem: you can't blame AWB - your edits, or your bot's, are your responsibility. PamD 15:12, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
Bug fixed. Since rev 8782 underlinked/dead end tags are mutually excluded. -- Magioladitis (talk) 14:14, 6 December 2012 (UTC)
Thank you very much for your help. I really appreciate it. --Meno25 (talk) 14:15, 6 December 2012 (UTC)
You are welcome. :) -- Magioladitis (talk) 14:17, 6 December 2012 (UTC)
(replying to PamD above) If the bot is using AWB, relying on AWB's behavior, and AWB is behaving incorrectly, then the proper fix is to get it fixed in AWB. That way it's fixed for all AWB users, not just this one bot. It's not really about him being responsible or not for the edits, as much as it's about how to best get things fixed. And that's pretty much how things have played out. He bug reported it to the AWB folks, and they not only made a quick fix to make the two tags mutually exclusive, they apparently have added logic to toggle between the two tags depending on the current state of the page. So IMHO Meno25 approached this from the right direction to get the originally reported problem fixed, and in fact we ended up with a much better fix than I had in my mind, because the AWB folks looked at it from a wider POV than just blocking one tag if the other is already present. - TexasAndroid (talk) 22:39, 7 December 2012 (UTC)
