Your submission at Articles for creation: Group14 Technologies (June 4)
[edit]- If you would like to continue working on the submission, go to Draft:Group14 Technologies and click on the "Edit" tab at the top of the window.
- If you do not edit your draft in the next 6 months, it will be considered abandoned and may be deleted.
- If you need any assistance, or have experienced any untoward behavior associated with this submission, you can ask for help at the Articles for creation help desk, on the reviewer's talk page or use Wikipedia's real-time chat help from experienced editors.
- Thanks for your guidance. I've updated the page with all third-party References, and smoothed out a few more things. My only known "hole" is I need to file a conflict of interest reference somewhere (I serve on Group14's Board), but have not yet figured out how to do that.
- Happy to receive more guidance..... Memphremagog (talk) 16:57, 5 June 2024 (UTC)

- Please see my new draft. I hope it addresses your concerns. If not, let me know what else I need to do. Please note I've modeled the page after Sila Nanotech's Wikipedia page (the other major player in the space) so I hope that makes it more acceptable. Thanks. Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Memphremagog. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Draft:Group14 Technologies, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template)—don't forget to give details of reliable sources supporting your suggestions;
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Air on White (talk) 00:27, 5 June 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks. I'm happy to disclose my conflict (I serve on the board of Group14 Technologies) and sadly could not quite figure that out in producing the latest draft. Will try again if you can guide me. I'm also happy to adjust my submission based on the feedback I've received from other reviewers (now on draft #3). But I also want to push back a little on the policy that because of my "conflict" I shouldn't contribute. The reason I drafted the page was because I noticed the other major supplier of silicon anode material, Sila Nanotech, had a Wikipedia page and Group14 did not. I have modeled my submission after theirs (with different facts) and have learned the need for external references (in new drafts). But if I can't offer this information to Wikipedia users, and day to day employees can't either, then Wikipedia ends up with a "hole" in its coverage of this exciting, emerging technology space. Since I am both knowledgeable and motivated to contribute, I hope that as long as I clearly work to keep my bias off the page, the contribution will be welcomed. Memphremagog (talk) 16:42, 5 June 2024 (UTC)
- I may have figured this out. Please see the text at the top of the page draft. Memphremagog (talk) 22:41, 5 June 2024 (UTC)

[edit]Hello, I'm Helpful Raccoon. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Group14 Technologies have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. (I noticed you indicated you serve on the board of this company. Please do not edit the article directly; see WP:Conflict of interest for how to make edit requests and WP:PAID for appropriate disclosure) Helpful Raccoon (talk) 22:35, 26 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Helpful Raccoon - Thanks for the feedback.
- Here's my dilemma: Yes, I serve on the Board of the company. And I certainly want to color within the lines of Wikipedia rules. The specific item I added could easily be recast from third party coverage. But I know a lot about the company, its history, and its customers that might be useful to Wikipedia users - information that is not currently on the page. While I can be careful in the future to just list "facts" without any "value statements" associated with them, it appears that I'm not really welcome to contribute at all. If so, that's a shame. Am I understanding this correctly?
- Thanks. Memphremagog (talk) 22:44, 26 December 2024 (UTC)
- You are welcome to contribute about your company by making edit requests on the talk page, see WP:COIREQ. When requesting to add facts about the company, it's best to use independent sources, not the company's own press releases. Wikipedia does not care about what the company considers to be its own achievements. Helpful Raccoon (talk) 23:10, 26 December 2024 (UTC)
- I've followed your recommendation (I hope) on the "Talk" section and added a topic for the "Applications" portion of the page. If I understand correctly, others can determine if some or all are appropriate. Thanks again for the guidance. Memphremagog (talk) 00:35, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
- You need to use the {{edit COI}} template as described on WP:COIREQ, so the request can go in a queue to be reviewed by other editors. You should also be specific about the exact phrasing that you want added. Many of your sources don't seem to mention Group14 or their products (and client websites are not independent sources even if they do mention Group14), so they are not suitable for inclusion. The IEEE source seems fine though. Helpful Raccoon (talk) 00:57, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks. Round 3 submitted! Memphremagog (talk) 01:08, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
