Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because it has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must follow all these steps:

  1. Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  2. Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  3. Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  4. Provide a new username.

To do this, insert the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can search to see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is still available.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Pickersgill-Cunliffe (talk) 10:41, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

First, I am a new to wiki and clearly made an incorrect entry. There is no compensation involved. I am a volunteer board member of the Memphis Songwriter Association which is a small non-profit. On the Estelle Axton wiki page there was some outdated information about the our association that I updated. I wanted to create a wiki page with the basic information regarding our association. Yes, I understand why the page was blocked as the way I prepared the page clearly is a contradiction to the purpose of wiki. I just didn't think about that when I wrote the article. The basic facts of the Memphis Songwriters Association are there in the paragraph. Please advise on the next step so the basic information is properly available for wikipedia. Our organization has historical importance in the Memphis music history. Thanks Memphis Songwriters Association (talk) 11:22 am, Today (UTC−4)

Decline reason:

Wikipedia articles do not merely have "basic information"(or shouldn't, at least). Our articles should summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about the topic, showing how it is notable as Wikipedia uses the word- such as a notable organization. Wikipedia is not a place for organizations to tell about themselves. Articles are typically written by independent editors wholly unconnected with the subject, who take note of coverage of a topic and choose to write about it. That a subject might be mentioned in an article is not in and of itself a reason to create an article about it- it must be shown to be notable. Please read conflict of interest. You won't be unblocked to, in the short term, edit about your association. If that is your only goal here, this is the end of the line. We will first want to see a history of edits in other topic areas, as a demonstration of your understanding of relevant policies, before permitting you to indirectly contribute about your organization. If that's okay with you, please tell what topics you might edit about, and what will change about your editing in the future. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 07:28, 15 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks 331dot. I understand. Considering it all the user should be deleted also by admin. thanks. Memphis Songwriters Association (talk) 17:09, 15 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is not a directory, so an organization is not entitled to have a Wikipedia article just because it exists. All topics must be notable by Wikipedia's definition to merit inclusion. In the specific case of an organization, it must meet the notability criteria for companies and organizations. For this to happen, the organization must have already received significant coverage in multiple reliable and independent sources. We have no interest in what an organization wishes to say about itself, as this is an inherent conflict of interest. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 22:44, 14 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Well, our intention was not to promote or to have an entry in a "Directory." The organization has had a 51 year history and is mentioned in a few wikipedia post including the wikipedia page for the associations founder Estelle Axton of STAX records notoriety. The information on Ms. Axton's wiki page was outdated and inaccurate. Our intention was just to provide information on the historical association and over time we would hope others would add information of historical interest regarding music and songwriters from Memphis involved with the association. Surely, there is a legitimate manner a wiki page could be created. Thanks Memphis Songwriters Association (talk) 23:06, 14 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
