MeisMyself, welcome to the Percy Jackson Task Force (PJTF)! We aim to create and improve articles related to the Percy Jackson & the Olympians series. Feel free to post ideas at the PJTF General forums and look at our To Do list for things to do. We are currently aiming to make The Battle of the Labyrinth a good article; you can help! Add {{Wikipedia:PJTF/Update}} to your userpage to keep up with the latest PJTF news. Happy editing, mono 00:53, 23 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

About wanting to do something

[edit]

If you want something to do, I would suggest asking for adoption. There are some great adopters on here. I have one myself :). They will provide you with PLENTY to keep you busy. Homework2 pass a notesign! 15:54, 13 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, how do I do that? MeisMyself and no one else 16:02, 13 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Add that template to your userpage. Someone will stop by and eventually offer their services. Homework2 pass a notesign! 16:05, 13 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Adoption offer

[edit]

I would be glad to adopt you if you like. I am Hereforhomework's adopter and you can look at some of our discussions for an idea of the way I work. I've been editing on Wikipedia for a year now and have ~5,500 edits. I work with Percy Jackson task force, WikiProject Warriors, Recent changes patrol, and Editor review primarily. Even if you choose another adopter, feel free to come to me with any questions. PrincessofLlyr royal court 20:50, 13 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey MeisMyself! Thanks for being a part of the Percy Jackson Task Force here on Wikipedia. We're cleaning up our list of members; the project would like to make sure all members listed are participating. Therefore, we're holding a roll call for the members of the Percy Jackson Task Force and appreciate your help by acting quickly. Before you confirm your membership, you'll want to look over the obligations for members. In order to remain a member, you must:

  • Contribute to the current PJTF collaboration and Percy Jackson articles constructively. A minimum of 10 (constructive) edits on Percy Jackson topics per month is required for members.
  • Be generally active in the affairs of the WikiProject (watchlist and participate in the General Forums, vote at AfDs, keep up with vandalism, and more).

Additionally, consider adding {{WP:PJTF/Update}} and {{Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels/Outreach/User Percy Jackson task force}} to your userpage for project updates and to show off your membership. We hope you're still active and interested, as the Percy Jackson Task Force is looking for more contributions from members. Also, check out ways to help the project. Thanks!

Adoption

[edit]

If you still want to be adopted, I'd be glad to help. I should explain that you will be be my first adoptee and if that is a problem I will understand --Jubileeclipman 23:10, 16 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I am good with it. I have never had adopter so it will be a first experience for both of us. MeisMyselfContact Me 16:00, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OK. (Though you nearly adopted me...!) You sig looks good now, BTW. Anything else you would like help with? Perhaps I should suggest you start with Wikipedia:Five pillars and Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not. Taken together, they almost explain everything you might want to know about how Wikipedia works --Jubileeclipman 16:25, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free files in your user space

[edit]

Hey there MeisMyself, thank you for your contributions. I am a bot, alerting you that non-free files are not allowed in user or talk space. I removed some files I found on User:MeisMyself/userboxing/. In the future, please refrain from adding fair-use files to your user-space drafts or your talk page.

  • See a log of files removed today here.

Thank you, -- DASHBot (talk) 05:02, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your Signature

[edit]

Hey. I don't think you realize this, but your signature does not lead to your user page or anything remotely related to it. As other editors will want to contact you, you might want to change it. Under my preferences, there is a place to change it. Type 2 of these [[and then your user page name. After that, type one of these "|" and then type whatever text you want. That should help. Make sure it isn't too long. Homework2 pass a notesign! 14:11, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Also if you want to link to your talk page, type 2 more of the brackets and then type User talk:MeisMyself, a "|", and then whatever text you want. It's a little difficult but it should get easier! Happy editing, Homework2 pass a notesign! 14:14, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ah I am bothering you again...but if you want to make yours colorful, you should check out Wikipedia:Smurrayinchester's signature tutorial. Have fun. Homework2 pass a notesign! 14:24, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Is this better? I cant get it to do anything else MeisMyself 15:24, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That's absolutely fine. It goes to your userpage and people can get to your talk page from there. You can play around with it more as you learn more --Jubileeclipman 15:42, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Never Mind, I fixed it MeisMyselfContact Me 15:50, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Talkback

[edit]
Hello, MeisMyself. You have new messages at Jubileeclipman's talk page.
Message added 17:30, 17 May 2010 (UTC). You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.[reply]

You can Watchlist my talkpage, BTW, and click the "My Watchlist" link above to find out if I have answered. That way, the questions and answers will appear on the same page. Or we can talk on your talkpage if you prefer? Some editors do hop back and forth between talkpages but I would not recommend that as it becomes very confusing! Jubileeclipman 17:30, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Answered you on my talkpage. I think I have figured it out, though I am waiting to see what other users have to say about it over at User talk:TheDJ/Qui#Update --Jubileeclipman 18:08, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • And again. Sorry I took so long to get back to you this time: I had RL (Real Life) stuff to sort out and then I had to investigate the issue, of course. I also messed up my post... several times! Ah the joys of being human! BTW, would you prefer we discussed things on your talkpage? Make no difference to me but it might help you get my reply more quickly. No problem either way, though --Jubileeclipman 20:55, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I don't care, whatever is easier for you MeisMyselfContact Me 00:26, 18 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
OK. I have moved our conversations over here (below). We can then carry on over here so that you can find out what I said more quickly in the future rather than your having to wade through my archives! No luck with Qui yet, BTW, and it won't work for me (nor for others I have asked) in IE8 either --Jubileeclipman 00:45, 18 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oh. I am glad it is not my fault, though it stinks that I can't use it MeisMyselfContact Me 14:37, 18 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. :( BTW, be WP:BOLD and throw yourself in to any article. The best way to learn on WP is to do, IMO. Yes, you'll make mistakes (as we all do, even Jimbo, BTW!) but as long as you learn from those mistakes then you are progressing. Hit the Random Article button (see the side bar) or search for your favourite pop-group or sports-person and just correct minor mistakes like spelling, for now. (Correction of spelling, grammar etc is called copyediting and you will often see it abbreviated as "ce". It is one of the most important processes on WP, IMO.) One other thing: use the box underneath the edit window to explain your edit. It says "edit summary" above it: read Help:Edit summary for more on this. In essence, this text can be seen in the aticle's history and other automatically generated lists such as Recent Changes (see the side bar again). Any more questions? I'll try to find out what's going on with Qui but don't hold your breath for a quick answer... these things often take months to sort out, I'm afraid --Jubileeclipman 15:18, 18 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

First Question as your adoptee

[edit]

moved from User talk:Jubileeclipman

I would like to use the Qui, but I can't get it to work. I followed the insructions carefully. Does it have anything to do with using Internet Explorer 8? —Preceding unsigned comment added by MeisMyself (talkcontribs) 16:51, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Possibly: I'll look into it for you --Jubileeclipman 16:56, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You have cleared your cache as explained here? Quick version for IE8 (and most others, actually): Hold Ctrl and press F5 while IE8 is open on your user page --Jubileeclipman 17:20, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I followed all the intructions MeisMyselfContact Me 17:37, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

AH! OK: you added the script to your Moonbook.js page. I think you have to add it to your Vector.js page now (unless you are actually using monobook?) They probably forgot to update the instructions so I just updated them myself --Jubileeclipman 17:45, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Oh... refresh etc again --Jubileeclipman 17:50, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I will try it now, thank you for helping me MeisMyselfContact Me 19:08, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Any time! Good luck. Oh... and don't forget those squiggles (though I frequently forget!) --Jubileeclipman 19:11, 17 May 2010 (UTC)][reply]
It didn't work. :( MeisMyselfContact Me 19:36, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Meh... I'll look into it further and get back to you. Might be something to do with the new look WikiPedia has been given. Or it might still be because you are using IE. Do you have any other browser to try out? I'll try IE8 my end, in the meantime, and see what happens with my Qui --Jubileeclipman 20:24, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
O...K...Do you get an exclamation mark in the corner of IE? And get this message or similar when you click it:

Message: 'null' is null or not an object
Line: 175
Char: 5
Code: 0
URI: http://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=User:TheDJ/qui.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript

I particularly like the "'null' is null" thing! I think it is to do with the Javascript functionality, e.g. it isn't properly enabled in our version of IE or needs updating or something. I'll have to investigate further. Sorry about that. I wouldn't worry too much though: Qui is useful in a way but people forget to change their status so they appear online when offline and vice versa! --Jubileeclipman 20:39, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Work

[edit]

You were asking your sister about what you could do. I think I have found something: Percy Jackson's page needs a lot of work. Oddly, it is listed as only "Start" class which means that it has a lot of words but not much else, basically. Rewriting some of it to make more sense or whatever would be a good start. Avoid the highest level articles for now BTW, those marked on their talkpages as "FA", for example, have been on the front page of WP: Main Page. They are generally considered to be the best articles we have. Start-class articles, OTOH, are at the other end... "Stubs" are just very short articles e.g. Cat Spectacular! These can be expanded. You can find a load of pop album stubs here, for example. Wouldn't hurt to play around with those and if they sit around doing nothing they might deleted anyway! Have fun! --Jubileeclipman 03:56, 19 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, MeisMyself! I'd like to invite you to join the WikiProject Warriors. We work on improving Warriors articles and would appreciate your help. To join, just add your name to the bottom of the list of active participants. Cheers! Brambleclawx 19:38, 22 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re: text messaging

[edit]

I definately do not want to be 'defensive' about my edits; if you honestly think the reversion should have been made, then I'm okay with that. However, I'm interesting in knowing your reasoning. Although it is essentially a minor edit (and, now I think of it, I should have labeled it as such), I still believe it is important. North America is a region, and so is Europe. To fit in with the pattern, Australasia is much more appropriate. Furthermore, the comments made about Australasia equally apply to all parts of Australasia, including New Zealand and Papua New Guinea. What are your thoughts? Also, I want to thank you for taking the time to review my edit; it's nice to know other people can correct my mistakes (if they are that). Sintau.tayua (talk) 04:41, 12 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry if I offended you. I think that many people are not familiar with the word Australasia, (In fact this is the first time I have heard of it), so I thought it might be better to keep it just as Australia. You could also use the word Oceania if you are talking about the diffrent continents MeisMyselfContact Me 15:03, 12 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, you have a valid point there. Coming from australasia myself (new zealand, exactly, so I am a bit biased!), the word is reasonably common. But I can see how it wouldn't be obvious to other people. I'm happy to keep it as Australia then. I think Oceania more refers to the islands of the pacific than to Australia, although I read the article just now and noticed that Australia was technically part of it. Thanks for replying! Sintau.tayua (talk) 21:16, 12 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker)Hi MeisMyself. I happened to see this discussion, and thought it might be useful to point out that Australasia is a part of Oceania, as indicated by Template:Regions of the world. Happy editing, Brambleclawx 23:02, 12 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I changed it to link to Australia (continent). That might be a good compromise, though it excludes New Zealand (part of Zealandia, apparently)! Better still might be to write "Australia and New Zealand" (just linking to the countries). Good work, BTW, reverting the deletion of material at Power Rangers: Super Legends --Jubileeclipman 23:19, 12 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

RE: help!

[edit]

CLick on view history and check out the last clean version of that page. then undo the damage. Homework2 TalkWhat I do! 16:35, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Re this: what would you like to do with the beginning of your user page? You can leave some info about yourself if you like, e.g. "I am a shinty player. I like playing the bagpipes but am not very good yet. I believe in the Loch Ness Monster but not in the Abominable Snowman... etc." (Yeah, that's not you I know!!!) This type of information often helps other editors to understand what type of article you are likely to be working on. Or you could directly describe the type of articles you'd like to work on e.g. "I am interested in the works of James Joyce so will probably be editing articles related to the man and his works". You could actually move the My Info section up there, in fact. I'd leave out personal stuff like where you live, your age, and real name for now. Given that I am a male 30something it probably isn't as much of a problem for me to add that info. BTW, I pinched the cryptic style on my userpage from User:GuillaumeTell's userpage and the collapsible boxes from someone else. When deciding how to create your own page, looking at other user pages is a good idea but every editor has a different way of doing things. Some people have nothing on the "front page": see User:MSGJ (who has a "user page" with nothing more that useful resources to help him with the type of edits he likes to make). Others have tons on there: see User:SlimVirgin. Yet others basically write an article about themselves: see User:Tony1 and User:Jerome Kohl. Others actually redirect the entire page to their talk page: see User:Folantin, if you can! (Hit the "(Redirected from User:Folantin)" link near the top to see the redirect page itself.) Hope this helps! --Jubileeclipman 20:47, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • "I am not very good at spelling (so please fix it if you find any), or finding/reverting vandalism." I would disagree with the last bit: you are very good at reverting vandalism! The rest is good, though. Brambleclawx and I have made some spelling corrections: hope that's OK? --Jubileeclipman 00:42, 17 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

oops... :)

Secret Pages

[edit]

Hey, I have seen these Barnstars for finding Secret Pages, I was wondering how they worked, where you can find them, and how you make them. Any information on this topic would be greatly appreciated. MeisMyselfContact Me 20:29, 23 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Some users like to make a "secret page" for fun. They create a page, then hide a link to it somewhere on their userpage. Usually, a secret page has some place to sign a name. When a secret page is found its owner sometimes gives a barnstar. On a side note, "secret pages" have caused some controversy in the past, because some users think they are a waste of time and lead to Myspacing. Brambleclawx 21:45, 23 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Percy Jackson Task-force

[edit]

Hi, I'm looking to help re-activate the Percy Jackson Task-force. I know you haven't edited Wikipedia actively for a while, but I wanted to extend an invitation for you to work with me to do this anyway. If you are no longer interested, I'd appreciate your taking the time to move your username to the "inactive" list here. And thanks for all you did before!

If you are interested, firstly I'd like to invite you to come back into full membership, as the requirements for membership are going to be lowered in the near future (I know they scared me away on the first try) -- or be just a "supporter", if that's more your speed. I would also ask you to consider a proposal I have, which is that this task-force become the "Rick Riordan" task-force. I've suggested this because I think it would help keep the project active and also help stop some pretty widespread vandalism in articles referring to that author. My proposal in brief. I'm a relatively new Wikipedian, so I'd appreciate the advice and expertise of a more experienced user. Thanks again in advance, and feel free to contact me on my Talk page. 2ReinreB2 (talk) 06:50, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
