Status and Advice

[edit]

As reviewing administrator, I deleted the article submission. I see no purpose sending you a copy, because it was completely copied from the university's web site, more specifically the section "Islamic Azad University Khorasgan(Isfahan) Branch (Isfahan)" on http://www.khuisf.ac.ir/ShowPage.aspx?page_=form&lang=2&sub=124&PageId=5808&tempname=Template36 .

Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously; and does not accept material copied from other sources unless it is in the public domain, or released to us under a free license (It is, by the way, not necessary for pages to have a notice to be copyright: everything published on the internet or elsewhere is copyright to the owner of that content unless specified otherwise.)

It might be possible to get permission from the appropriate university official, but there is no point in doing so--the web site , as always for web sites of this sort, is unsuitable for WP, because it was written as a press release, praising rather than describing the subject and containing material we would not include. It is therefore always better to rewrite.

Please never copy this way from an outside source again, and be absolutely certain that in everything you have previously written, there is not just no copying , but no Close paraphrase. If there is, rewrite that part from scratch, changing not just the words, but the arrangement into sentences and the sequence of ideas.

If you want to write an article on the university, and I see no reason not to, start off by describing its basic statistics, and then its history. If there are notable alumni and faculty who have articles on Wikipedia, list them and link to the articles. Include one or two pictures, that you have taken yourself and licensed properly. Normally there is one of the general area of the campus, and another of some prominent or particularly important building. Then give references to the university pages from which the information can be verified. also try to give at least one reference from some outside source--preferably a newspaper , magazine or book, , DGG ( talk ) 18:32, 9 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Incompatible licensing

[edit]

Hello. I'm afraid that your new creation of this content is still not usable, as the license mentioned here is not compatible with our own. Please review Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. All content on our website must be explicitly licensed for reproduction and modification. This is why we have the specific language we recommend there:

The text of this website [or page, if you are specifically releasing one section; images may be included] is available for modification and reuse under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-Sharealike 3.0 Unported License and the GNU Free Documentation License (unversioned, with no invariant sections, front-cover texts, or back-cover texts).

If the website updates their release to reflect this language, please leave me a note on my talk page (you can reach it by following the "talk" after my user name, and I will resolve the copyright concerns, at least. Please do not restore or use this content anywhere else on Wikipedia until that language is changed.

If you have any questions, I invite you to come to my talk page, and I will be happy to clarify. Thank you. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 11:24, 19 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, thank you. If you can ask them to update that text, it will be sufficient to eliminate any copyright concerns. The administrator you spoke to certainly gave you good guidance but if he did not often work in copyright areas may not have considered that our content must be released for modification as well. :) If you will let me know when this is done, I will be very happy to restore this content. Thank you! --Moonriddengirl (talk) 10:11, 22 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
There is no deadline - whenever they are able to update the license, we can easily restore the content. :) It does not matter where on the website the license goes - they can put it in the same place the old one was, if they like. If they don't want to put the licensing statement on the website, they do not have to. In that case, they will need somebody from an email address that is clearly associated with the domain to fill out the licensing form at Wikipedia:Declaration of consent for all enquiries and to email it to the address given at that link. Please note that the same licensing conditions must be met, but in that case the release does not need to be published. If they choose to do that, please make sure that they specify the title of the page where the content previously appeared and also the urls of the pages on their website from which content is copied, unless they are licensing the entire website. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:45, 24 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I just wanted to let you know that the page has been removed until the license clarification is supplied. Again, this is not urgent. We can easily restore the page when it is. If you will please just let me know, I'll be happy to help handle things on our end. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:39, 25 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I've looked for the email, and I can't find it. :( I searched for the key terms "Islamic Azad" and "Khorasgan", in emails created in the last week, and I haven't come up with anything. Can you tell me what the subject line of the email is? If those terms are in the email and it was created in the last week, it may be necessary to resend it.

My real name is Maggie. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:19, 7 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for resending, but I'm afraid I still cannot find it. I have asked some of the other OTRS volunteers to scan in case I am overlooking something. Our software is quite old (although it is being upgraded) and there may be performance issues. I hope that it will be found soon. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 11:12, 9 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Good news! It showed up a couple of hours after I wrote this. :) I've restored the content and put the necessary tag on it. Now it can be reviewed for other issues. I can tell you at a glance that you should add some sources that are separate from the university itself (newspapers, magazines, etc.) and that some of the language will need to be neutralized to meet WP:NPOV: content like "All these capabilities has made Khorasgan #Isfahan) University to be recognized as one of the supreme universities throughout the province and country" may be true, but it just isn't consistent with that policy. :/
If you have questions or want advice, feel free to stop by my talk page. Otherwise, thank you for your patience in resolving the copyright issue, and I wish you luck with your contributions. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 19:54, 9 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Image without license

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Islamic Azad University Khorasgan Branch Entrance.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by MifterBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. --MifterBot (TalkContribsOwner) 07:00, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Azad-University-Isfahan-Khorasgan.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Azad-University-Isfahan-Khorasgan.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 10:25, 16 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Ahmadali-Foroughi-Abari.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted content borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Deletion pending for File:Islamic Azad University of Isfahan logo.jpg

[edit]

Hello, Mehrnazar. Some time ago, a file you uploaded — File:Islamic Azad University of Isfahan logo.jpg — was tagged with {{OTRS pending}}, indicating that you (or perhaps the copyright holder if you did not create this image) submitted a statement of permission to permissions-en@wikimedia.org. Though there is often a backlog processing messages received at this address, we should have received your message by now.

  • If you have not submitted (or forwarded) a statement of permission, please send it immediately to permissions-en@wikimedia.org and let us know at the OTRS noticeboard that you have done so.
  • If you have already sent this message, it is possible that there was a problem receiving it. Please re-send it to permissions-en@wikimedia.org and let us know at the OTRS noticeboard that you have done so.

If we don't hear from you within one week, the file will be deleted. If we can help you, please feel free to ask at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 14:38, 10 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
