Rojava map

Information icon Hello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions, such as the edit you made to Rojava, did not appear constructive and has been reverted. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make test edits, please use the sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. Thank you.

I brought up the issue about the map on the talk page of the Rojava article a while ago. The map of the administrative divisions of the Autonomous Administration of North East Syria (Rojava) is a map displaying the civilian administration of the region, relevant for Wikipedia pages dealing with the civilian administration of the region. While there is both a presence of the international coalition as well as SAA/Russian army in the area, there is no evidence that has been presented so far that the nature of the de facto civilian administration has changed more in the areas with SAA/Russian presence than in areas with a presence of the international coalition. Regarding borders, the map is otherwise in line with Wikipedia Syrian Civil Map, previous maps and other mainstream sources that report on the status of control in Syria. Please debate this issue on the Rojava talk page first and present your arguments, not just remove the map from every Wikipedia page where it is in use unilaterally. @AntonSamuel: I recommend you self revert all those reverts you just made because you violated 1RR in over 5 article simultaneously. MehmetFarukSahin (talk) 21:20, 7 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
1RR was not violated. You should secure consensus for the mass changes you are introducing first, not the other way around. El_C 21:24, 7 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@El C: Did you check well? The user " introducted" the mass change 7 hours ago and than I reverted back, than he reverted all all those again. Looks like you are confused which way is around. MehmetFarukSahin (talk) 21:26, 7 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
No, sorry, I'm not seeing it. Maybe submit the diffs. El_C 21:34, 7 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@El C: Lol. Okay... there are 13 articles by the way. Here is 3 of them, if you agree with these I guess I gotta link the other 10 as well, 1) [1], [2] 2)[3] [4], [5], [6] MehmetFarukSahin (talk) 21:38, 7 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
As I mentioned earlier, the issue was brought up on the Rojava talk page a while ago, and there has been a recent issue with the user that added the 50/50 paint to the map (both the old map and the new) on Wikimedia Commons: [7], this user (Bill497) is blocked on Wikipedia and tried to canvass Wikipedia users using his talk page on Wikimedia Commmons to change the map. AntonSamuel (talk) 21:36, 7 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
This is not enough justification for violating 1RR in 13 different articles in one day friend. You still haven't self reverted by the way. MehmetFarukSahin (talk)
Sorry, I conflated who was restoring. But are the first edits reverts or bold edits? Do you have diffs of the previous version reverted to? AntonSamuel, you've only addressed the article talk page today, that is not enough time for WP:SILENCE to come into effect. Please both of you discuss this on the Rojava article talk page and try to come to a resolution. If you reach an impasse there, feel free to use any dispute resolution request you see fit. If there is (onwiki) canvassing or socking, please use ANI and/or SPI, respectively. For any offwiki conduct, please contact the Arbitration Committee. El_C 21:48, 7 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@El C: Thank you for looking into the matter! I think it is very good to have debate on the Rojava talk page regarding the subject, which I've been calling for before. AntonSamuel (talk) 21:55, 7 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@El C: MehmetFarukSahin changed the map again on all pages where it is present (before his edits were in turn reverted by another user) [8] without heeding the call to discuss the matter on the Rojava talk page first. AntonSamuel (talk) 10:12, 8 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please both of you stop edit warring, or you will be sitewide blocked (sorry, there's too many pages for me to bother with a partial block). Also, MehmetFarukSahin, you have broken 1RR — it has not been 24 hours yet since your last revert. What are you doing? El_C 10:21, 8 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@El C and AntonSamuel: I did not revert. I've boldly edited the map to new version I just created. Meanwhile AntonSamuel has just violated 1RR in 12 articles. MehmetFarukSahin (talk) 10:22, 8 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
You restored the words "De Facto" twice in less than 24 hours. That was not a bold edit. El_C 10:29, 8 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@El C: I have no intention of conducting edit warring and hope the issue can be resolved through discussion. I haven't done any new reverts on the Rojava article or on its related articles regarding the map. AntonSamuel (talk) 10:31, 8 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Good, glad to hear it. El_C 10:35, 8 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@El C: He just said he did not do any reverts on Rojava. Do these look like reverts to do you not? [9] [10] [11] Remind you the article is under 1RR, he needs to be blocked asap. MehmetFarukSahin (talk) 10:39, 8 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Oh fuck nevermind. It is another user. MehmetFarukSahin (talk) 10:41, 8 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Raqqa image and caption placed on multiple articles

[edit]

Please don't do that. It is inappropriate. As an uninvolved admin, I am instructing you desist from that practice. Thank you. El_C 21:21, 7 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Re. "SDF celebration in Raqqa 2017.png"

[edit]

Hello, MehmetFarukSahin. I just wanted to say that I am sorry for the confused removasl of the image from the battle of Raqqa article. I actually though you had removed an image (didn't pay all that much attention as I was doing so), thus the reasoning "revert removal of image without reason". I actually wanted to restore said image. After realizing my mistake, however, I noticed that said image violates copyright, and thus did not restore it. I hope that makes my actions more understandable.
By the way, we originally had several images showing YPG/YPJ fighters with big Ocalan paintings in several articles on Wikipedia. All of these had to be deleted, however, because the paintings of Ocalan are copyright-protected. If we upload photos of them on Wikimedia, that violates copyright. Just in case you were wondering why we have so few photos of YPG/YPJ fighters with Ocalan imagery on Wikipedia. Applodion (talk) 11:14, 8 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
