[edit]Please do not use Wikipedia to promote businesses, like you did in the article Red Ventures. Wikipedia is not a trade directory. If you want to list a company for potential customers to find, please consider alternative outlets. Thank you. BigDwiki (talk) 19:23, 3 April 2018 (UTC)
This is your only warning; if you use Wikipedia for soapboxing, promotion or advertising again, as you did at Red Ventures, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. BigDwiki (talk) 19:23, 3 April 2018 (UTC)
Hello, I'm BigDwiki. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to Red Ventures seemed less than neutral and has been removed. If you think this was a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Request reason:
It appears that several of my coworkers and I attempted to edit our company page within a few weeks of each other, which makes sense as the company recently launched a new version of their website with updated information. While my goal genuinely was only to update the Wikipedia entry about Red Ventures with current accurate information, I was flagged for providing "less than neutral" content. I can't speak for my coworkers, but edits I made included removing information about locations which closed more than 5 years ago, adding important events to the timeline (which are sourced through newspaper articles), and adding business verticals the company has since invested in. I would be more than happy to work with a more experienced Wikipedia editor to ensure the page is neutral and as accurate as possible. Appreciate your help in resolving this!
Decline reason:
Your edits were sourced largely to press releases or other basic announcements of routine transactions, which are specifically called out by the notability guidelines as not appropriate. The article is not "your company page", but an article about your company. You don't seem to have read WP:COI and WP:PAID, and you only touch on the sockpuppetry/meatpuppetry issue by stating you and your coworkers have edited the article. If there is inaccurate information in it, we want to know what it is, but there is a proper procedure for those in your position to do. I believe that being unblocked will require you to first agree to not directly edit about your company, agreeing to request changes on the article talk page per the edit request procedure, and telling what else you are interested in editing. I am declining this request. 331dot (talk) 18:17, 30 July 2018 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:
Thank you for clarifying, and I sincerely apologize for not taking the time to understand and follow the correct procedure. I understand that I must not directly edit information about my company and will request changes on the article talk page per the edit request procedure. I am interested in requesting updates to the page about Red Ventures regarding the 2019 acquisition of HigherEducation.com as well as where the company is located. Red Ventures has offices in South Carolina, Georgia, New York, Texas, Michigan, the UK, and Brazil. Please let me know anything else I can do to resolve this issue. Thank you.

As FlightTime says below, you admit that this account was being used by several employees. As the account has only ever existed to edit the page of the company in question, I can't see how this is anything other than a role account. Such shared accounts are prohibited. If we're misunderstanding something, you can submit a new unblock request. Otherwise, you will have to create a new account that represents yourself as an individual. ~Swarm~ {sting} 20:14, 1 May 2019 (UTC)

Request reason:
Hello, I previously misunderstood the proper procedure for editing a page about the company I work for. Since then, I have learned the proper procedure and would like to submit an Edit Request in order to improve the information on the page, which currently contains inaccurate and missing information. In my previous appeal, I wrote "It appears that several of my coworkers and I attempted to edit our company page within a few weeks of each other." I did NOT mean the account was being used by several employees. Mcmurtrk is NOT a shared account. I am the only person with access to this account, which I use to represent myself. What I intended to communicate was that several of my coworkers, in uncoordinated individual efforts, noticed incorrect information on the page and attempted to edit the page - using separate accounts that represented each of as individuals. Again, these were uncoordinated, individual efforts stemming from individual desires to improve the quality of the information on the page - but a very unfortunate lack of understanding of Wikipedia's procedures. I understand how my own individual actions resulted in a block and would like the opportunity to now follow proper procedure to ensure this widely viewed page is a credible source of information. If I could please gain access to submit an Edit Request, I would like to suggest evidence-based arguments to remove inaccurate information currently listed on the page as well as new information that will improve the value and credibility of this Wikipedia page. Thank you.
Accept reason:
I'm giving you a last chance. Welcome back. PhilKnight (talk) 14:52, 7 September 2020 (UTC)
@Oshwah: - would you objrect to an unblock? PhilKnight (talk) 10:30, 24 August 2020 (UTC)
- PhilKnight - If you believe that this user will improve the encyclopedia, go for it. Remember that WP:ROPE exists, too. It's not hard to re-block a user if they continue the behavior. :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 02:01, 4 September 2020 (UTC)
Hi, @PhilKnight:, @Oshwah: This unblock request has been open for several weeks; are we going to take action on this? Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 14:12, 7 September 2020 (UTC)
- I'll unblock. PhilKnight (talk) 14:52, 7 September 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you, Ritchie333 for facilitating this request and for making sure that someone responded to it. I also want to thank PhilKnight; that was the right thing to do in this situation. Assuming good faith and giving them some rope is the default action to take if you're feeling "ehhhh" or "meh" with an unblock request like this. ;-) Cheers - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 20:22, 7 September 2020 (UTC)
@PhilKnight: Thank you very much. Based on the above, would it be appropriate to request that the sockpuppet note also be removed from my user page? I am guessing my IP address displayed the same as other employees if we were on a shared network through work, but user accounts were not shared and actions were not coordinated.Mcmurtrk (talk) 13:19, 8 September 2020 (UTC)
- Yes, I've removed the sockpuppet notice from your user page. PhilKnight (talk) 14:07, 8 September 2020 (UTC)

Please help me with... Hello, I began the Wikipedia:Articles for creation process to request a new article about Draft: Red Ventures, but want to be sure I'm doing this correctly. For full transparency, I work for Red Ventures.
