Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, one or more of the external links you added to the page Violeta Parra do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Jespinos 20:45, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Dog the Bounty Hunter. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. - Mdsummermsw (talk) 16:57, 10 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your response, and explanation of your actions. However, the links were removed because they do not meet the requirements of Wikipedia's external links guideline. In a nutshell, this site is not intended to be a directory service; we do not link to every site related to a topic, but instead only to only those that are considered to be of direct benefit to the article in question. (The IMDB links you mention are added by individual editors, not by IMDB itself.) Furthermore, Wikipedia generally avoids linking to petitions, campaigns, and other similar events. Thanks again for asking; please feel free to enquire if you need additional explanation. Cheers.. --Ckatzchatspy 22:35, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
