There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing. Additionally, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for your contributions to Wikipedia, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.

If you intend to make useful contributions other than promoting your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block. To do so, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason for thinking that the block was an error, and publish the page. 331dot (talk) 09:40, 17 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Unblock request

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

The block is no longer necessary because I understand the reasons that I was blocked and I will not repeat the same mistakes. I understand that I was blocked because : 1. My username is the name of a company and 2. One of the articles I attempted to publish was understood as promotion. Here are the changes I will make once my account is unblocked : 1. I will change my username so that it represents me, rather than the company I work for (New username: Maude at h264). 2. I currently disclose and will disclose on further contributions that I am an employee of h264 and that I am paid to contribute to Wikipedia. 3. While I am an employee for this film aggregator, which means that this is a company that ensures films' online accessibility, my contributions to Wikipedia are not going to be related to promotion or publicity. My job consists of referencing and documenting cultural works, rather than publicizing them. I intend to contribute to existing articles relating to films and other cultural works by adding or editing relevant information from neutral cited sources. I also intend to contribute articles about relevant cultural works that are widely recognized, always while referring to trusted sources. These articles will also enrich and connect to existing Wikipedia articles. I will never do the promotion of products or services. Please do not hesitate if you have any questions.

Decline reason:

Procedural decline only. This unblock request has been open for more than two weeks but has not proven sufficient for any reviewing administrator to take action. You are welcome to request a new block review if you substantially reword your request. Yamla (talk) 13:17, 9 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Someone else will review your request, but you will need to follow the instructions in the block notice to propose a new username first. 331dot (talk) 19:29, 11 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi Maude. A couple of key aspects come to mind. The nature of your job means a huge sphere of work is going to be a "regular" conflict of interest overlapping with a significant area that might fall into being a paid conflict of interest - and it's going to be quite hard to tell from the outside which is which.
These relate to a second area: in the case of conflict of interests, and especially paid COIs, editors are required to make suggested edits on talk pages, which another editor will review and add in/not, rather than editing it directly - are you prepared to comply with this? Having been blocked, in some of those judgement call cases, you'd need to be ready to play it safe and suggest edits. There's a couple of more specific points also to be made, but those are big ones you'd need to consider first. Nosebagbear (talk) 13:45, 12 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hi Nosebagbear, thank you for the message. I am definitely ready to comply to suggest edits through the talk pages. I am understand that this would also apply to the creation of new wikipedia pages about topics not currently on Wikipedia? I would have to put a suggestion for someone to create the page through a talk page? Thanks for your help with all this. I truly appreciate Wikipedia's mission and values, and am more than happy to contribute to it in the ways that work best for Wikipedia. Maude at h264 (talk) 11:44, 17 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
If you want to create a new article on a topic that you have a COI then you can create a draft and submit it to Articles for Creation - our review process. Once you create the draft (but before submitting) you'd note on its talk page that you had a COI. The same process applies for PaidCOI articles, however, I would advise that you not do any paidcoi articles from scratch until you had some non-problematic edits under your belt. That may be an unblock condition from me or whoever gives the ultimate review to your request (I've not looked closely enough to decide whether I feel it's warranted yet) Nosebagbear (talk) 20:14, 17 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • I understand, thank you for the information. I agree to only contribute edits to pre-existing articles for the moment. Please let me know if you need any other information to assess the unblock request. Maude at h264 (talk) 11:53, 18 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
