Useful idiot

[edit]

Thank you to pointing out an interesting fact for "Useful idiot." Please keep in mind that in wikipedia articles the interpretations and comments of wikipedians themselves are not admissible. YOu can only summarize what is written elsewhere, but cannot draw any conclusions yourself. See "No original research" guideline for further explanations.Staszek Lem (talk) 18:04, 11 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Useful idiot

[edit]

Thanks to Staszek Lem (talk for clarifying wikipedia's policies. To clarify my post, I sought more sources for use of the term "Useful Innocents" and "Useful idiots" that predates 1948, preferring use of the term by communists. I was able to find a Reader's Digest article that used the term and provided the phrase in the Serbo-croat language. Interestingly, the literal translation of the Serbo-croat term "Koristne Budale" is "Useful fools" or "Useful dumbbelss", which suggests that both communists and their opponents viewed "Useful Innocents" as naive and/or foolish.
