Talk page

[edit]

Hi. This is my talk page, feel free to talk. No templates or bots please.

Thanks

[edit]

Hi Matt. Thank you for your kind comments on my Talk page. I was quite moved by what you said and yes, the SMS thing is rather nice, in that this tiny fragment still exists in what is now a large and quite nice article. That that particular wording survives is both nice and a little surprising: one of the (many) reasons I gave up editing Wikipedia is that I get very depressed when people trash things because they do not like the merest hint of levity, finding it unencyclopaedic. The Levity Police appear not yet to have found that one, along with a few others which for obvious reasons I will not name here. The best one is not by me and I still occasionally go and look fondly at it: a perfect expression of a concept, perfectly encyclopaedic, straight to the point, witty, and patently doomed because someone will think it is too funny or nice or something to be allowed to continue.

Apart from that, I'm most grateful for your kind thoughts but I must say it is unlikely that I will ever be back, for a range of reasons, most of them not in any way critical of Wikipedia. I really, really, like Wikipedia and I do mean it most seriously when I wish it all success - but I have realized that it's not, in the nicest possible way, for me. Thanks again, and all the best, Nevilley 10:21, 24 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Hi!

[edit]

You deserve thanks for the pages you have done. Hope to see you editing more!

A page you started (Francis Henry Atkins) has been reviewed!

[edit]

Thanks for creating Francis Henry Atkins, Matt me!

Wikipedia editor Blythwood just reviewed your page, and wrote this note for you:

Looks OK. I've looked on Google Books and found two basic sources in academic textbooks - I recommend the citation generator as a good way to get an article well cited. I think it might be nice to have a bit more on the dates of activity though, as you say his stories were published from 1908 to 1935, but he died in 1927 and according to this textbook was certainly writing novels a lot earlier than that.

Speedy deletion nomination of Pagure

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Pagure requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Notice

The article Pagure has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Does not appear to be notable. A google search doesn't pull up any major secondary sources, and the one source in the article is maybe reliable, and doesn't even fully focus on Pagure.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
