Repeated deletions and unsourced edits to Tony Bennett

[edit]

If you have a reliable source that states Tony Bennett never played for the Sydney Kings (meaning the Sydney Morning Herald is mistaken) you must cite that source before removing the correctly sourced information. If you continue to remove correctly sourced material, action on your account may be taken. Omnibus (talk) 18:56, 29 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I am the official historian for the Sydney Kings, hence the edits. And there are many statistical websites that confirm that not only did Tony Bennett never play for the Kings, he never played a single game in the Australian National Basketball League. Suggest you look at https://spatialjam.com/nbl-historical-stats for confirmation or otherwise email the National Basketball League directly. The information in the Sydney Morning Herald is patently incorrect and I will continue to delete any reference to Tony Bennett's NBL career, because it never happened. He played a couple of preseason games for the Kings but was released before the season commenced.
Actually, I tried to dig deeper and I see the discrepancy. It looks like Bennett signed to play with the Sydney Kings, even moving to Australia, but the contract fell through (probably due to his ongoing injury and medical evaluations) before he ever played a game. I'll update the article to better reflect the situation. Thank you! Omnibus (talk) 19:00, 18 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The only correction is it was the 1996 preseason, not 1997. He only played two preseason games for the Kings before being cut.
