Editing an article about yourself
[edit]Hi.
Regarding your edits at Mason Reese; given the similarity between your user name and that article, and the fact you included a file called "My Book," I think you might need to read the conflict of interest guidelines. PaulCHebert (talk) 17:22, 29 September 2018 (UTC)
I AM in fact Mason Reese. I have a new GF in my life and want to change the content of my person life history to reflect that Masonreese1 (talk) 15:22, 5 December 2022 (UTC)
Salvio- I don’t understand why I’m not allowed to change info regarding ME? I AM Mason Reese! Masonreese1 (talk) 15:59, 5 December 2022 (UTC)
- We don't add or delete content based on the wishes of an article's subject. We summarize on what reliable sources that are independent of the subject have chosen on their own to publish. The guides on autobiographies and conflict of interest expand upon these reasons.
- Also, just claiming here that you are who you say you are will never be accepted as sufficient proof. You need to follow the instructions in the block notice to prove your identity and have the block lifted.
- Please note that if even the block is lifted, all the notices about editing the article about you still apply. Since no single editor owns the article, you have to work with other editors here on the article talk page to come to a consensus through a process of discussion and compromise. Failing that, other dispute resolution measures are available. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 19:31, 5 December 2022 (UTC)

[edit]Hello, I'm Adakiko. I noticed that in this edit to Mason Reese, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Adakiko (talk) 12:58, 5 December 2022 (UTC)
Hello. I wanted to let you know that in your recent contributions to Mason Reese, you seemed to act as if you were the owner of the page. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to Wikipedia. This means that editors do not own articles, including ones they create, and should respect the work of their fellow contributors. If you create or edit an article, remember that others are free to change its content. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you are Mason Reese himself, then you will likely be asked for proof of identity to confirm that you are not someone attempting to impersonate him. Secondly, the subject of article doesn't own or control the Wikipedia article about them. Articles summarize what reliable sources have already published about the subject; as long as that information is neutrally worded and presented with the proper balance, it is fair game for Wikipedia. Please see "Problems in an article about you" if you feel insufficient attention is being given to your concerns. Drm310 🍁 (talk) 14:40, 5 December 2022 (UTC)
If you are the person represented by this username, please note that the practice of blocking such usernames is to protect you from being impersonated, not to discourage you from editing Wikipedia. You may choose to edit under a new username (see information below), but keep in mind that you are welcome to continue to edit under this username.
If you choose to keep your current username, please send an email to info-enwikimedia.org including your real name and your Wikipedia username to receive instructions from our volunteer response team about account verification. Please do not send documentation without being requested to do so.
If you are not the person represented by this username, you are welcome to choose a new username (see below).
A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive, or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.
Please take a moment to either create a new account, or request a username change of your current account here. The new username that you choose must comply with Wikipedia's username policy.
- To create a new account with a different username, simply log out of this account and then click here to make a new one.
- If you prefer to change the username of this account, you may do so by adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page here:
{{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
.
Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.
Appeals: If your username is not in violation of Wikipedia's username policy, and if you believe that this block was incorrect or made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the following text to the bottom of your user talk page here: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
.
You are suspected of sockpuppetry, which means that someone suspects you of using multiple Wikipedia accounts for prohibited purposes. Please make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, then, if you wish to do so, respond to the evidence at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Masonreese1. Thank you. - Of course, since the account has been indeffed by a passing admin, the editor is unlikely to appear in defense at SSI. I'm concerned that this account may actually BE the subject, and I think little support has been given to a new editor under those circumstances. The indef prevents us from finding out. User:Masonreese1, you are allowed to edit this page even if blocked, so if you have a case to make, please make it here. Often a subject of the biography of a living person is best served by placing useful sources on their talk page, the subject being more aware of such sources than a stranger or fan.
