Introduction to contentious topics
You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practices;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Additionally, you must be logged-in, have 500 edits and an account age of 30 days, and are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on a page within this topic.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Image on List of sundown towns in the United States
Hello, I want to thank you for your contribution to a page I created: List of sundown towns in the United States. The image you added to the top of the page is helpful, but I noticed that it has been nominated for deletion (by yourself) since September with the deletion rationale stating that you intend to upload a revised version of it. In the time since, I have curated and expanded on the list article to the degree that all municipalities in that list now have descriptions and reliable sources. Would it be safe to say that now is a good time to upload your revised image of the map? — Paper Luigi T • C 05:10, 4 November 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for informing me, I have uploaded an updated map. Mason7512 (talk) 16:45, 4 November 2024 (UTC)

Edit summary usage
Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! Sdkb talk 16:27, 9 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Mason7512: I, too, have noticed you have been editing without providing an edit summary, such as this edit to Talk:November 2024 Amsterdam attacks, where you asked for a photo of the game or the riot. As the article already has a photo of the location, I very nearly removed this request, until I realised it was for an additional photo of the event itself. If you do not explain your edits, accurately, there is a risk the purpose of your edits will be misunderstood and removed due to a lack of understanding by other editors. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 19:53, 9 November 2024 (UTC)
- Apologies, I thought simply putting "the game or the riot" in |of= would suffice, but I now see how that is limited. Thank you for pointing this out to me, it had never occurred to me; I will utilize edit summaries for such edits in the future. Mason7512 (talk) 20:13, 9 November 2024 (UTC)
- Earlier, I had removed a different photo request because the article already had a photo, and I thought my edit was being reverted, so I went looking for the new request, to understand why it had "reappeared". Without an edit summary, I could not search for a key word, so I had to step through each edit to find the change you made. Other editors might not have the patience to do this and just revert an unexplained or poorly explained edit if it cannot be identified easily. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 21:07, 9 November 2024 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:1146 in Africa
A tag has been placed on Category:1146 in Africa indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Liz Read! Talk! 18:13, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
