Hello Mary calist mlay. Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions!

I'm Walter Görlitz, one of the other editors here, and I hope you decide to stay and help contribute to this amazing repository of knowledge.

Some pages of helpful information to get you started:
  Introduction to Wikipedia
  The five pillars of Wikipedia

  How to edit a page
  Simplified Manual of Style
  The basics of Wikicode
  How to develop an article
  How to create an article

Some common sense Dos and Don'ts:
  Do be bold
  Do assume good faith
  Do be civil
  Do keep cool!
Do maintain a neutral point of view
  Don't spam
  Don't infringe copyright
Don't edit where you have a conflict of interest
  Don't commit vandalism
  Don't get blocked
If you need further help, you can:
  Ask a question
or you can:
  Get help at the Teahouse
or even:
Ask an experienced editor to "adopt" you

Alternatively, leave me a message at my talk page or type {{helpme}} here on your talk page and someone will try to help.

There are many ways you can contribute to Wikipedia. Here are a few ideas:
  Fight vandalism
Be a WikiFairy or a WikiGnome
  Help contribute to articles
  Perform maintenance tasks

Become a member of a project that interests you
  Help design new templates
Subscribe and contribute to The Signpost
Translate articles from Wikipedias in other languages

To get some practice editing you can use a sandbox. You can create your own personal sandbox for use any time. It's perfect for working on bigger projects. Then for easy access in the future, you can put {{My sandbox}} on your user page. By the way, seeing as you haven't created a user page yet, simply click here to start it.

Please remember to:

  • Always sign your posts on talk pages. You can do this either by clicking on the button on the edit toolbar or by typing four tildes ~~~~ at the end of your post. This will automatically insert your signature, a link to your talk page, and a timestamp.
  • Leave descriptive edit summaries for your edits. Doing so helps other editors understand what changes you have made and why you made them.
The best way to learn about something is to experience it. Explore, learn, contribute, and don't forget to have some fun!

Sincerely, Walter Görlitz (talk) 14:51, 23 July 2021 (UTC)   (Leave me a message)[reply]

Are you the same user as User:Siwema Nikini?

[edit]

Either way, please stop adding pictures to articles indiscriminately with nonsensical edit summaries. Aoi (青い) (talk) 10:57, 25 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Mary calist mlay (talk) 11:28, 25 July 2021 (UTC)Hello Aoi|Aoi, thank you for your comment. I am not Siwema Nikini but am participating in the Wikipedia Pages Wanting Photos campaign. One of the instructions is to add the #WPWP on the edit summary which will be tracked by the Hashtags tool. What do you recommend me to do? Is there any other best option to do this? Thank youMary calist mlay (talk) 11:28, 25 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Mary calist mlay, someone at the noticeboard just explained to me what was going on so please disregard my message; it was my misunderstanding and I apologize for it. Thank you for adding photos to these articles (However, please do try to keep our manual of style in mind as you add photos to articles. For example, if an article has an infobox, it's not a good idea to add the image above the infobox, especially since the infobox may already have an image in it). Anyway, please carry on, good luck with the campaign, and I again sincerely apologize for my misunderstanding. Aoi (青い) (talk) 11:40, 25 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Road pages

[edit]

Please stop adding images to the top, above the info box. That's not how we do things. All these pages have plenty of images already. Information icon Please do not introduce incorrect information into articles, as you did to Jardin botanique alpin . Your edits could be interpreted as vandalism and have been reverted. If you believe the information you added was correct, please cite references or sources or discuss the changes on the article's talk page before making them again. If you would like to experiment, use your sandbox. Eric talk 12:32, 25 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summaries

[edit]

Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history. Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. The WPWP hashtags are not sufficient for this purpose. Thanks! #WPWP

[edit]

I understand your interest in winning a monetary prize, and I will put a lot of effort to make sure that this stupid competition will not continue in the future, I would like to remark however that I have already reverted three of your recent edits which appeared on my watchlist - one image was of substandard quality and two did not show the subject of the article. This is the error rate of 50%. If you continue, I am going to block your account and revert all of your edits without even looking at them. Please stop the race, and, if you really want to help, at least start looking at what you insert into the articles. Thank you for your understanding.--Ymblanter (talk) 17:14, 25 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, given this is the fifth warning, I would cpnsider blocking your account now. Consider this being the last warning.--Ymblanter (talk) 17:16, 25 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2021 Elections voter message

[edit]
Hello! Voting in the 2021 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 6 December 2021. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2021 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:58, 23 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
