Mirrors

[edit]

Information icon Thanks for contributing to the article Typhoon Longwang. However, one of Wikipedia's core policies is that material must be verifiable and attributed to reliable sources. You have recently used citations which copied, or mirrored, material from Wikipedia. This leads to a circular reference and is not acceptable. Most mirrors are clearly labeled as such, but some are in violation of our license and do not provide the correct attribution. Please help by adding alternate sources to the article you edited! If you need any help or clarification, you can look at Help:Contents/Editing Wikipedia or ask at Wikipedia:New contributors' help page, or just ask me. Thank you. John McEntee and contentious topics

[edit]

The article is subject to editing restrictions, as is made clear by the notice currently at the top of its talk page (to be fair to you, the notice was not there until I placed it just now). Please read it. Also, description of major changes to an article as "minor" in edit summaries is not on. Please don't do that anymore.Dan Murphy (talk) 18:29, 22 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Dan! You wrongfully deleted a contribution to the article I made touching on McEntee's involvement with the Trump campaign. Please refrain from deleting edits I made without reviewing the materials I cite. Martian Manhunter 1776 (talk) 00:30, 23 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to post-1992 politics of the United States and closely related people, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template. Johnuniq (talk) 03:13, 29 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

There is no evidence that I am using multiple accounts. The account that had reverted the page to the edition that I had produced was not mine. I am requesting that my editing privileges be restored because there is no evidence whatsoever that I am abusing editing privileges.

Decline reason:

The timing and content of your edits suggests that you are a) an undisclosed paid editor WP:UPE working on behalf of John McEntee and b) that User:TundraWanderer57 either is you or is collaborating with you. In order to be unblocked, you're going to need to explain your edits at this page, and to outline what constructive edits you intend to make moving forward. signed, Rosguill talk 17:23, 30 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

The edits that I had made to the page were entirely rooted in evidence provided by the sources that I had cited. There was egregious editorializing on the part of previous editors and I had amended some of the language on the page to remedy this. I intend on continuing to add meaningful insight and context onto the page and removing biased language. As for the allegation that I am working on behalf of John McEntee, I find such an allegation to be completely and entirely baseless. One does not need to work for John McEntee to be able to identify the egregious bias and editorializing that had existed on his page before I began making edits. With regards to this whole matter pertaining to TundraWanderer57, any accusation that they and I are the same person or are working in conjunction to one another is completely unfounded.

User talk:TundraWanderer57#October 2024 is good reading for any admins reviewing this unblock. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 17:31, 29 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
