[edit]Hello, MarketingSmith. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Securly, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template), including links or details of reliable sources that support your suggestions;
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 15:58, 10 December 2024 (UTC)
Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Securly. While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. - Hi, thanks for this feedback! My intention was certainly not to promote or advertise - the information listed on this page is incredibly outdated and lacking detail, which is why I was working to update it.
- I see that all of my edits have been reverted, but I would like to request that the new edits be kept (albeit with any tweaks you deem necessary to remove promotional language, etc). I did my best to keep the content factual, so any help or insights would be gratefully appreciated.
- Please let me know how to revert my changes back to the live page, as it would be very time consuming to make them all manually again!
- Thanks so much MarketingSmith (talk) 16:16, 10 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hello! The changes are in the history, however, detailed lists of products or awards that have not been reported in independent secondary sources usually appear as promotional, and it is not productive to have them here.Also, if you have any connection to the company, you are invited to disclose it, it helps to be transparent about the situation! - Hey!
- This is incredibly helpful, thank you for the detail. I'll revert my edits but remove the product listing; I see how this could be perceived as promotional now. For the Awards & Recognition, I did provide secondary sources for 90% of the inclusions where they existed / were still live reference pages, but I will also amend this to ensure they are all sourced by secondary sources.
- Thanks again! MarketingSmith (talk) 17:58, 10 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hi! Just to clarify, the sources you give are most of the time primary (the person or group who gave the award). Independent secondary reporting means that media without a stake in the awarding process reported on it, which proves notability from a more impartial point of view. Request reason:
I am new to editing Wikipedia articles and am attempting to work with the community to simply update the factual - and provable by source - material relating to Securly. I do not believe my actions justify being blocked from the page, as I am actively attempting to update the erroneous and outdated information with help from more experienced editors. My intention is one of updating, not promoting. Please consider my proposal to continue in this process MarketingSmith (talk) 01:08, 11 December 2024 (UTC)
Decline reason:
You are only blocked from editing the Securly article itself, you are free to edit its talk page to propose edits as edit requests(the edit request wizard can help with that) or edit most any other of the millions of articles on Wikipedia. It's likely that you work for Securly in its Marketing department, the Terms of Use require that to be disclosed, see WP:PAID. You should also read conflict of interest. You give no reason here that you need access to the article itself; in most cases you shouldn't be editing it directly if you work for the company. 331dot (talk) 09:03, 11 December 2024 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
- You're not totally blocked. You are still able to suggest changes on the article talk page, so they can be reviewed by impartial editors. signed, Willondon (talk) 02:25, 11 December 2024 (UTC)
