Wikipedia and copyright
[edit]Hello Maria1718182! Your additions to Vittoria Ceretti have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.
- You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
- Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
- We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
- If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. Tacyarg (talk) 23:23, 18 March 2023 (UTC)

[edit]Hi Maria1718182! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. Disambiguation link notification for August 6
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Eugenia Volodina, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Russian and Agency. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Introduction to contentious topics
[edit]You have recently edited a page related to articles about living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template. Hipal (talk) 19:11, 30 November 2023 (UTC)

Hello, Maria1718182
Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username SunDawn, and I thank you for your contributions.
I wanted to let you know, however, that I've proposed an article that you started, Lucy Markovic, for deletion because it meets one or more of our deletion criteria, and I don't think that it is suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. The particular issue can be found in the notice that is now visible at the top of the article.
If you wish to contest the deletion:
- Edit the page
- Remove the text that looks like this:
{{proposed deletion/dated...}}
- Click the button.
If you object to the article's deletion, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the issues raised in the deletion notice. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.
If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|SunDawn}}
. And remember to sign your reply with ~~~~
. Thanks!

Speedy deletion nomination of Sofia Steinberg
[edit]Hello Maria1718182,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Sofia Steinberg for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly indicate why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Deletion discussion about Sofia Steinberg
[edit]Hello Maria1718182, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.
While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Sofia Steinberg, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sofia Steinberg.
Deletion discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. Our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.
If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|CurryTime7-24}}
. And don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~
. Thanks!

Gigi Hadid
[edit]Please do not edit articles to reflect your own point of view, or your own personal analysis, as you did to Gigi Hadid. Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. Thank you. [1] [2] [3] --Hipal (talk) 17:20, 9 May 2024 (UTC)
- I remember adding her net worth, and it was a reliable source in my opinion. The same thing was done at Claudia Schiffer's page as well. Also as for Hadid being a Muslim I don't recall her saying anything like her sister did. Therefore I request that such statement should be reviewed. Faith is something personal, I'd accept it if she said it herself but the source hasn't given such information and just because she celebrates Ramadan doesn't make her a muslim since she celebrates Christmas as well.Maria1718182 (talk) 10:10, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for the explanation.
- There's already information in the lede about her income, which is already problematic because there is no corresponding content in the article body. Adding still more to the lede just makes the problem worse.
- As for being Muslim, The Guardian is fine for such a statement. If can find something of similar quality that goes into the nuances of her religious beliefs vs cultural upbringing, we should address them then. --Hipal (talk) 17:18, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
- I read the article but only Bella's quote was mentioned? Also as far as I can remember Gigi has never said anything about faith and their parents separated pretty early. The children mostly lived with their mother since they were in different states. I think it'd a bit inaccurate, she has stood up for the rights of the Palestinians and immigrants but has never openly said she's a Muslim unlike Bella. It's just the sources claiming it.
