additions should prob. have been sandboxed first for proper formatting and completeness - blame it on exhaustion - but should not entirely be reverted. this includes one addition directly cut/pasted from the next episode, incorrectly identified as the first time michael is "okay" with gob. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.23.246.223 (talk) 21:05, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

- Hi PB666, I have left a message on the users talk page. I agree that the editing style is a bit unusual for someone new to Wikipedia. I too, have technically made the same edit twice today, so I should take a step back as well. (It could easily escalate into an edit war, which I don't really want). Let's just both take a step back. Re: On assistance
Hi Marek, I might have a couple of queries focused on styling-formatting at some stage as I have the impression these issues sometimes follow 'rules' based more on tradition or convention beeing probably a 'no-two-situations-are-identical' issues. On the other hand I found that on general questions Wikipedia is very well documented with plenty of help pages & examples. It also gives a good overview on HTML language coding which becomes more and more interesting every day now nearly more than contributing to articles... Thanks again, 9er9ely (talk) 15:03, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

Message re: Bat Yam
Hello Marek69,
I was wondering if you could help me. I have tried adding a person to the notable residents section of the article entitled "Bat Yam." Bat Yam is a city within the area in Israel referred to as "Gush Dan" and is a town adjacent to Tel Aviv. My addition to the notable residents has been removed several times by someone very adament, who also mentioned something about "vandalism" in regard to my addition. While I respect that no one should put up false information on any article, I can't help but feel that this person seems to think he "owns" the article and only he is entitled to make changes.
I added someone named "David Vildof" to the notables list. The Vildorf Family has long been residents of Bat Yam, back when there were no buildinga, but tents... there has been a book printed about them and David Vildorf is a philanthropist and people know this almost 80-year-old man in the community. He is a philanthropist, but not the kind who you see at parties or in the newspapers, but a man who does good and prefers to fly under the radar if you will. He is a Zionist, a man who has fought in all the wars of the country except the last two, and continues to volunteer his time to rightous causes.
I was surprised that this YHockey person was so possesive about the article. I invite you to read our exchanges and look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks, AnnAvildorf (talk) 06:14, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
Bat Yam
Hi Markek69,
I sent you a note last week regarding the article titled "Bat Yam." I know you are probobly busy, or maybe I sent it to the wrong place, or the wrong way, being that I am new. I will not repeat what I said so as not to bother you. If you did not receive the message/question, I will be happy to resend. Thanks, AvildorfAvildorf (talk) 05:14, 19 August 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Ann, I did receive your message (above), however I am currently travelling around Europe and am experiencing difficulties in getting a reliable internet connection. I've only just managed to connect. Please excuse me if I do not reply immediately to any messages. If I can connect then I will endeavour to help. :-) Marek.69 talk 09:30, 19 August 2009 (UTC)
- I've had a look and I think to start with it may be a good idea to read en:Wikipedia's policy on the notability of people
- You mention that a book exists mentioning David Vildof, in which case you may want to provide a citation to back up your claim of notability. For more information on how to do this, see this article on citing sources.
- I hope this helps. Marek.69 talk 21:10, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

Repetitive references to same source
Marek,
I applied what you taught me regarding references, and added two references in the article Fernandina Beach. However, they are both to the same source. How do I add a second (third, etc.) reference to a source already referenced? Morogoso (talk) 04:55, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
- Hi again Morogoso,
- You need to give the reference a name, in this example it is "Manila";
<ref name="Manila">{{cite web|url=http://www.manila.gov.ph/cityhall.htm#sistercities|title=Sister Cities of Manila|publisher=City Government of Manila|accessdate=2009-08-12}}</ref>
- The next time you wish to use this same reference, simply use
<ref name="Manila"/>
- You can do this any number of times.
- For more information on how to do this, see Wikipedia:Citing sources.
- I hope this helps :-)
- Please come back if you need any further help. Marek.69 talk 09:24, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

American Film Institute edits
Hi Marek,
Thanks so much for your involvement with the article. I am new to Wikipedia and appreciate any help you can offer. As the house editor for AFI, my wish is to have the most up-to-date information posted. Now that I've read the style guide I can appreciate that the article did not entirely conform--and was still missing links. I would welcome your advice on ways to make the story conform more to wiki standards. Since I'm new, I wanted to post the correct, factual information and then add the links, etc that are still missing.
I'm curious to hear why it was removed? And how you think it could be fixed.
Thanks Filmmaven (talk) 22:29, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Filmmaven, thank you for your message. I took a look at the American Film Institute article.
- I think the edit you are referring to was this one, with an edit summary of rv copy and paste. new info must conform to wiki style
- I'm pleased you have read the style guide. I think the problem here maybe that the other editor may have thought you simply copy/pasted from another internet page in your original edit
- To clarify this, it may be worth explaining where this information is taken from, and perhaps proving some citations. You can read more about this in Wikipedia:Citing sources. It may also be helpful to you, to start a discussion on the article's talk page explaining your additions for other editors benefit and for better clarity.
- I hope this puts you in the right direction.

How to make numbered sub-heds
Thanks for your warm welcome. Quick question: How Do I make a Level 3 headline? Or I guess a Level 2 headline that is numbered, eg., 6.1, 6.2 etc., and indented? I see this all the time but can never find any code or template for it. Thanks!
Timoleon212 (talk) 13:08, 6 September 2009 (UTC)timoleon212
- Hi Timoleon212, thanks for your message.
- In answer to your question.
- To create a Level 2 heading, use two equal signs before and after the wording.
- To create a Level 3 heading, use three equal signs before and after the wording, and so on
- e.g. the following code:
==Level 2 Heading==
===Level 3 Heading===
====Level 4 Heading====
- will give this result:
Level 2 Heading
Level 3 Heading
Level 4 Heading
- This will automatically be added to the Table of Contents, with appropriate numbering.
- For more information on this subject, read this section of the Manual of Style
- I hope this information helps you.

Malta
An anonymous user, from an IP address close to the one you reverted recently, has again done a mass edit of the article. Although some of the changes are OK, some are bad, i.e., they remove relevant info. How should we respond? I would like to fix a couple of areas where I am more familiar with the info, having put it in originally, but don't want to do anything that would impede a mass rollback if that is the best response. Use of AWB
Please be more careful with your use of AWB. See WP:AWB#Rules of use: "Check every edit before you save it. Make sure you understand the text and have NOT changed the meaning." Your edit here changed "Montaner" into "Mountainer". That is incorrect and has been reverted. If you don't understand the language used in an article (Catalan in this case), please think carefully before using AWB for making changes. Misuse of AWB can lead to withdrawal of your permission to use it. Thanks. - 85.94.186.91 (talk) 00:14, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, I missed that one. You're right, I should double-check my edits with AWB. I do a lot of typo-fixing with AWB, so I really should have spotted the obvious mistake. Occasionally one slips through though.
- Thank you for spotting it and please accept my apologies for any inconvenience caused. I will be more careful in future.

"Fixing" links to redirects that are not broken
I see you are doing hundreds of edits "fixing" links to redirects that are not broken, e.g. here. This is positively unhelpful and against the guideline WP:NOTBROKEN. Please stop and have a think about your editing pattern. You are doing a lot of minor "janitorial" edits using tools such as AWB, TW, WikiCleaner, etc. Such edits can be done by bots if the edits are really necessary. Why not try spending time on more productive edits such as writing new articles or expanding existing ones? That will get you noticed in a good way! - 85.94.186.91 (talk) 00:41, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
- Hi, I'm sorry but I do not entirely agree with your comments and would like to defend my 'editing pattern'
- Regarding the "fixing" of unbroken links with WikiCleaner, if you take a closer look you will see that in most cases the links I am fixing are those I actually created.
- I use a couple of link-suggestion tools, as well as my own suggestions. These tools, while very useful, can sometimes be a little out-of-date, so usually after adding these links, I run WikiCleaner to modify and update them, using the edit summary of ‘Repairing links to disambiguation pages and avoiding redirects.’. As I said, I am updating links (avoiding redirects) which I added, so I think WP:NOTBROKEN does not strictly apply here.
- Regarding TW edits. I use TW to revert vandalism. I consider it to be a very useful tool to do a necessary task. I see no reason to do such a task manually, when a tool such as this exists. (I also use huggle, for same reasons)
- Regarding AWB, I have already explained above. Spell checking is a necessary task as well.
- As far as the implication that my edits consist mainly of minor "janitorial" edits. This is true to a certain extent, but why not? Someone has to do them; spell checking, link addition and correction, interwiki links, vandalism patrol etc. I do not believe these tasks can all be done by fully automated bots. Being only ‘human’, I do make a mistake once in a while.
- Not everyone has the ability to be a content creator, so we do what we can.
- Regarding "writing new articles or expanding existing ones", I also suggest you take a close look at my contributions, as I also contribute, albeit in a smaller way, to these type of edits (eg articles I've created or list of articles I've expanded). I also do referencing work.
- I'm sorry if any of my edits or my 'editing pattern' upsets or offends you. I am only trying to contribute, in my own way, for the good of the encyclopaedia.
- Kind Regards Marek.69 talk 16:06, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for fixes to Freddy and the Dragon
Hi, thanks for your changes to HTML formatting on Freddy and the Dragon, here [1]. Double thanks if you can cite the Wiki references explaining the guidelines. I remember reading ages ago that image filenames were not to have concatinated_underscores_in_them. But I can't remember why (because they can't be easily searched?) I'm also not sure about use of HTML vs. Wiki conventions. (E.g., <i>, <b> vs. '', '''. What I do know is that it's easier to make a mistake with the Wiki convention, and harder to notice and fix other people's mistakes. So again, if you've got a nice reference, that would be handy. Cheers! Alpha Ralpha Boulevard (talk) 02:41, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Alpha Ralpha Boulevard, thank you for your message. Sorry for the delay in responding - it's been a real busy week!
- I too could not find a specific guideline regarding underscores_in_filenames, however I did find this discussion on the subject
- As for HTML vs. Wiki conventions, this is covered briefly in the Manual of Style under Keep markup simple.
- If I can find anything else on the suject, I'll let you know.
- Kind Regards Marek.69 talk 21:29, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for replying, I really was at a loss, particularly because *after* your edit, a bot called Drilbot came along, making similar changes to another article I wrote. [2]. My inclination, frankly, is to continue doing what easiest and most standard on the Web. I.e., using a specialized syntax makes it: a) difficult for new Wiki editors, and b) difficult for automatic conversion tools seeking to use Wiki material elsewhere. I notice in the comments on Drilbot's page that some of the edits it makes are "really just personal preference", according to Drilnoth.
- At any rate, it's not a big issue to me, one way or the other, I was just curious. Regards, Alpha Ralpha Boulevard (talk) 14:27, 28 September 2009 (UTC)

Twin town/sister cities in Europe
Thanks for splitting more off of this article -- I was going to do some more, but it was tedious work, what with the named references getting separated from each other. How about updating Template:Twin towns with the new articles you created? I was going to check other twin town articles as well, unless you'd also like to do them. Let me know, either is fine with me. --Auntof6 (talk) 23:13, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Auntof6, thank you for your message. Yes tedious work as you say, but it really needed doing. You inspired me! The list had grown so much recently it was taking ages to load the page. Luckily, as I originally sourced a large part of the citations on the page, I had already compiled a list in User:Marek69/sandbox1, which helped with the stray references.
- Template:Twin towns was also on my list of things-to-do. I'll attempt to do tonight, unless you're going there. I'm also OK either way :-)
- Do you think the remaining countries on the List of twin towns and sister cities in Europe should have their own articles?
- They are all very small and have very few references between them (may get tagged, if in individual articles).
- I might just try to find additional references first.
- Oh, I left the Ireland (Republic of) section as there appeared to already be an article: List of twin towns and sister cities in the Republic of Ireland.
- I guess the correct procedure would be to merge the two together?
- Kind Regards Marek.69 talk 23:27, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
- I'm on the fence about whether all the countries should have separate articles. That would make things consistent, but it might not be worth it. As for the Republic of Ireland, I think the detail should be in only one place, either a section in the Europe article, or in its own separate article. --Auntof6 (talk) 01:14, 22 September 2009 (UTC)
- I found some more references and decided that for the sake of consistency, I would treat all the sections the same and make a new article from each.
- I've just got Republic of Ireland to do now. :-) Marek.69 talk 20:48, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
- The Republic of Ireland section has now also been merged into List of twin towns and sister cities in the Republic of Ireland -- Marek.69 talk 03:51, 29 September 2009 (UTC)

Hi Marek...
Hi Marek, I'd like to know more about helping to edit Wikipedia. How can I get started? Probably there's something I should read.Dante4848 (talk) 01:21, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

What??
Hi-- I'm curious; what earthly reason did you have for truncating my entry regarding Dacian numismatics on the Dacia page, Occupations section? I've returned it to the previous version, which is both more accurate and more informative. Phida50 (talk) 20:42, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Philda50, thank you for your message. I'm afraid I'm not entirely sure what you are referring to.
- Would it be possible for you to provide a diff for the edit in question?
- Kind Regards Marek.69 talk 21:42, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
Not sure how to do a Diff, and I'm too lazy to figure it out. Here is my wording (which I've now restored), in the Dacia page, Occupations section:
The first coins produced by the Geto-Dacians were imitations of silver coins of the Macedonian kings Philip II and Alexander III (the Great). Early in the 1st century BC, the Dacians replaced these with silver denarii of the Roman Republic, both official coins of Rome exported to Dacia and locally made imitations of them.
Here is the edited version:
The first coins produced by the Geto-Dacians were imitations of silver coins of the Macedonian kings Philip II and Alexander III (the Great). Early in the 1st century BC, the Dacians replaced these with imitations of the silver denarii of the Roman Republic.
It seemed you were responsible for the change, but perhaps I misread the edit history.
Phil
- OK, I checked the whole edit history and the contributors log for the Dacia article.
- It seems that I made 0 edits to that particular article, so I suggest you were mistaken when you read the edit history.

OK, here's the Diff: http://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Dacia&diff=prev&oldid=314288074 Aren't you Purpleturple?

Sorry Marek! I see how it works now. Sorry to bother you. In my defense, it does make sense that clicking "talk" next to a user name would reach that user. Is there any way I can send a message to Purpleturple? Phil

Metric?
`Hello thanks for the welcome. I happen to be one of the 96% of the planet's population who think everyone should be using the metric system, so when I see it missing in Wikipedia articles I like to include the metric units. I have seen the convert format, however some of these measurements are Nominal (the enemy was 50 yds away) is an estimation and so it would also be 50 meters. If it's an exact measurement, a mountain elevation for example I agree the convert formula would be appropriate. I'm still getting used to some of the editing conventions. I do a lot of traveling, enjoy reading about places I go, when I see an omission or error like to correct the information. I agree I could use some help occasionally, I tried entering a reference one time and it failed, another time it worked, I still have some things to learn. ~~metricmike~~—Preceding unsigned comment added by Metricmike (talk • contribs) 04:27, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Metricmike and Welcome to Wikipedia. Thanks for the message. I think you're right and with the "Convert" template we can have the ‘Best of both Worlds’ for those who are more familiar with Imperial measurements.
- If there's anything I can help you with, just let me know. Marek.69 talk 20:39, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
I can't reach the edit page
Hi, Marek,
In your message to me on the 2 nd of Sep., you voluntered to help me. Thanks for the offer. I have a rather technical question. I am trying to write a new article. Well, I am not new in creating articles. (Some in en, but many in tr) But this time I have a problem in reaching the edit page. Even though the article I plan to create doesn’t exist, the name of the article has already been directed to an existing article which is a rather generalization of the subject. So whenever I search for my planned article, I am directed to another page instead of the edit page. Is there any way for me to reach the edit page of my planned article. ?
Sincerely. Nedim Ardoğa (talk) 12:34, 28 September 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Nedim Ardoğa, thank you for your message.
- The page you are trying to edit is most likely a 'Redirect' page.
- On the page it leads to, on one of the top lines, it will say:
- (Redirected from This Page)
- If you click on the link of the page (eg This Page), it will take you back to the 'Redirect' page.
- From here you can click on the edit option/tab
- The page is likely to contain text reading:
- #REDIRECT [[Another Page]]
- Simply replace this text, with the code for the page you want to create.
- I hope this answers your question.
- Kind Regards Marek.69 talk 14:50, 28 September 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you. It worked fine.Nedim Ardoğa (talk) 05:31, 29 September 2009 (UTC)

Wrong translation of "Gerusalemme liberata"
Marek, is there a way to filter only messages of a user (oneself, for example) in a talk page (like this one)? TIA Morogoso (talk) 12:20, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Morogoso, thank you for the messages. Could you please give another example as I'm not sure I'm too clear on what you're asking :) Marek.69 talk 15:53, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
Marek,
"Gerusalemme liberata" was incorrectly translated to "Jerusalem Delivered" when it is really "Jerusalem Freed" or "Jerusalem Liberated". It is the name of a page, and is referenced in many places, including a "Did you know?" entry.
How do we correct this?
Morogoso (talk) 12:52, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Morogoso, I would raise the subject on the Jerusalem Delivered talk page
- The article can easily be moved to either of the above titles, but I would wait for further input from other editors to get a consensus, or agreement on what the 'best' title would be, before moving.
- When this is agreed, moving is pretty straightforward.

Marek69 - Sandbox
Hi Marek
I very much enjoyed viewing the page regarding Tatars at Ocieka. Nice bit of research. I tip my hat to you.
Now, do you have any evidence of six Mongols purportedly held at Gora Motyczna, captured while foraging for chickens and food at nearby Debica circa 1241?
Again, nice job.
Dennis Benarz Editor, http://spuscizna.org/ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.39.234.199 (talk) 22:37, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Dennis, thanks for the compliment!
- If it was my sandbox article which you have read, that's just a collection of bits of text I was translating before it went into an article. The full article is Ocieka
- On the question six Mongols purportedly held at Góra Motyczna, I'm sorry but I haven't come across any information on that particular incident, but if I do I will surely let you know.
- In the Wikipedia Tartar article it states “In Europe the term Tartar is generally only used in the historical context for Mongolian people who appeared in the 13th century (the Mongol invasions) and assimilated into the local population later.”, so that when you refer to six 'Mongols' I guess 'Tartar' and 'Mongol' would be interchangeable.
- I have done several searches on 'Tartars' or 'Mongols' in the Dębica or Góra Motyczna areas, but not really come up with anything. In fact the closest hit being your website.
- I thank you for your message and will be in touch in I uncover anything of interest.

Hello and I need serious help!
Hello Marek!I need serious help. Nearly all my wikipedia articles have been deleted, especially Economy of Italy, Economy of Greece and Milan. I don't know what to do! You sent me a message congratulating me on Florence, yet, my edit was deleted. In Economy of Italy and Economy of Greece, I only updated statistics and gave a more neutral point of view. The Economy of Italy's GDP is of 2.313 trillion, not 1.787 and per capita is 31,300, not 30,400! I hyperlinked to reliable sources (e.g. CIA world factbook) and some editor canceled it and I have been threatened of vandalism. Please help!!! To check, go on: CIA World Factbook Richest cities by GDP-Wikipedia List of countries by economic freedom List of countries by quality of life And etc. Ciao! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.240.42.70 (talk) 15:57, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

- Hi 89.240..., thank you for the message.
- I've had a quick look and it appears you have a dynamic IP address, which mean that your IP address can change from day to day.
- If you edit without a username, your IP address is used to identify you instead.
- It looks like at the time these edits took place, your IP address was 92.24.73.110, with this talk page
- It may well be that the vandalism edits you are being accused of were made by another user.
- The way to get around this problem, and your best course of action, would be to get a username. You can do this creating an account. Creating an account is quick, free and easy, and there are many benefits of having a username.
- My advice to you would be to open an account and leave these problems behind you.
- Please feel free to come back anytime if you require any more help :-)

Dear Marek,
I've tried to enter source from which I collected data to make the climate table for Rijeka into the Rijeka's page, but it didn't go.
Sources are:
Drzavni hidrometeoroloski zavod
This is the url for October:
http://klima.hr/klima.php?id=mjes¶m=
For each month a different page should be opened.
Another source is the book by Ridjanovic and others: Geografija SR Hrvatske 5, Skolska knjiga, Zagreb, 1975, page 84.
I've collected data of medium and extreme monthly temperatures and rainfalls from the web-site, while I took average daily fluctuation of the temperatures by months from the book and then I adjusted highest and lowest temperatures to fit medium temperatures. I am aware this is not the scientific way, however, since temperatures are rounded to degrees Celsius, there cannot be any misrepresentation larger that 1 degree Celsius. I believe that this is satisfactory for Wikipedia.
I am preparing to enter the number of rainy days and snowy days by months in the same unscientific, but generally reliable, way.
Please comment if you find it necessary and feel free to correct my English.

Hi and Thank You!
Hello Marek, and thank you very much for your advice and help. So, does that mean that if I create an account and still hyperlink the sources that I give, my information will not be deleted and regarded as 'vandalism'. If so, it would be fantastic and I could just edit all the articles that I had updated which were deleted. The wikipedia pages telling you how to edit an article are very complicated, so could you just give me a brief. If so, I would be very greatful. I am just still a bit worried that the users who said my work was 'disruptive' will write to me again and I will be banned from editing, something I wish does not happen. Bearing in mind that I am so, so busy and I have some very important events coming up, please could you improve the quality of articles, i.e. Rome, Economy of Italy and Milan, by adding some more colourful information. Please include
That Milan is an Alpha city with the world's 26th highest GDP in the world, the world fashion capital and Europe's 4th highest metropolitan area GDP (You can go on, List of ost expensive cities for expatriate employees, Fashion capital, Global city)
That Rome is an Alpha- city, has a GDP of $115 billion, is a worlwide center for politics, fashion, culture and art.
That Naples is the world's 91st richest city by purchasing power
And the positive thngs of the Economy of Italy

To the message on top!
Sorry that I've had to leave you a 'message on the top' again, but I just wanted to apologise for the very poor grammar on my previous message. I was in a rush, and I did not have time to check my punctuation and spellings. I am normally very good at English! By the way, an article also needing updating (please) is the Economy of Greece. Greece has the EU's 3rd lowest GDP and is going through a terrible recession. The article has a very positive POV and I do not see why an article like Economy of Italy is all negative and Economy of Greece is all positive (Greece is going through a far worse recession and is 81st on the Index for Economic freedom, a terrible rank for a developed European nation). Please update it and to get those facts go to the:
CIA World factbook
List of Countries by GDP (nominal)
List of countries by economic freedom
Please, if you have time, do that. Ciao!

Uzbekistan Question
I have not been able to understand few points:
Transport Routes Information of Tashkent is a very important and Unique Contribution. My Link has been Deleted. Chorsu Bazaar is a Historical place in Uzbekistan and my very Unique work and Link was deleted. Uzbekistan Economy Total Verified Information till Half of 2008 were linked but they were deleted.
When I look at the following even non Working Links and full advertisement then I tend to doubt the credibility.
On Tourism Uzbekistan Page there are advertisements of Dental Tours, Same type have repeated in the Heading "What makes Uzbekistan Interesting" And even few days back I deleted one Non Working Link but can see it is again there. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Haroonchoudhry (talk • contribs) 14:13, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
Moving "Pope John Paul II: Museum Retrospective"
Hi, Marek,
Moving the text/reference for the traveling museum exhibit to the main article page makes sense. But, I wonder if that main page article might be renamed ... something that doesn't address just Beatification and Canonisation, something like Posthumous Recognition and Cause for Canonisation? I'm asking because there is another exhibit out there now, and this might also be the place for text/reference about the Pope John Paul II Cultural Center. What do you think? Mcwebeditor (talk) 16:51, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Mcwebeditor, I'm sorry I had to move it, due to the fact that the main article is getting so large, its taking quite a significant time longer to load. This is why the daughter articles were created.
- As far as renaming the article, I agree, that is an excellent idea.
- I think Posthumous Recognition and Cause for Canonisation of Pope John Paul II might be a little too long for the title. I don't know. What do you think?
- How about Posthumous Recognition of Pope John Paul II or Cause for Canonisation of Pope John Paul II?
- As this page is infrequently edited, the renaming would be an uncontroversial move, so we could just go ahead.
- Kind Regards Marek.69 talk 17:19, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Marek. You're absolutely right about how large that main article is getting. Of the suggestions you offered, I would opt for Posthumous Recognition and Cause for Canonisation of Pope John Paul II. True, it might be a litle too long, but it really is the most descriptive of the daughter article's content. You could trim three characters off the length with Posthumous Recognition, Cause for Canonisation of Pope John Paul II
- Thank you for your help. I'm a relative newbie to all this, and I am really enjoying the experience! Regards, Mcwebeditor (talk) 18:44, 5 October 2009 (UTC)

My first (draft) article
I drafted my first article after some weeks editing pages.
Have a look at User:Lidos/Uxbridge Lido. It's got a long way to go yet, citations to be looked up and added, etc.
btw I added the copyright notice, but I have the copyright owner's permission so maybe I can take it away.--Lidos (talk) 15:15, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Lido, thank you for the message.
- I've had a look at the article and I think it's very good. Like you say, it needs a few more citations, but for a first article, I'm impressed. I suggest adding a photo or two if you can, it can really help an article.
- As far as the copyright goes, I suggest you rewrite the content you have copy/pasted in your own words. Wikipedia copyright rules are quite complicated on this issue, and even though you have the owner's permission, unless the website it was on originally is not copyrighted i.e. public domain and has a compatible license to Wikipedia, you could still run into problems. (Please see Wikipedia:Copyright#Using copyrighted work from others)
- In summary: It's best to write it in your own words.

Hi Marek and thank you! I was just wondering whether when you start editing wikipedia with an account if your information does not get deleted. By the way, me (Theologiae) is the same user as my IP. I am theologiae, by the way--Theologiae (talk) 14:07, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Theologiae, I had a feeling it was you.
- Please excuse me for the delay in reply, but its a bit hectic at work at the moment.
- In answer to your question, no the edit history of the IP is not deleted. (There is a history of just about every change in Wikipedia) However, your previous editing as an IP is not transferred to your new user account.
- Regarding the article you created, Economy of milan, if you want it deleted then you can request this by putting the following template at the top of the page:
- {{db-author}}
- You can copy/paste the above.
- The article should soon be deleted.

Please put back all my edits. I know your're busy with work, but if you have time contact 93.45.133.14 and resolve the situation. I need desperate help--Theologiae (talk) 13:32, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

Hello Marek!
Hi Marek. I was wondering, has 93.45.133.14 changed his/her IP number, as I wrote him/her a message, and he/she has not answered me back? Please reply. Anyway, ciao!--Theologiae (talk) 17:40, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
Hey, Theologiae, peoples IP addresses change all the time (for most people anyway) and if they are not a registered user don't be surprised if they don't log on for long periods of time. So sorry, but your not likely to get one! Regards, Captain n00dle T/C 19:51, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, and sorry, you can't really change your IP address when you want, your internet service provider does it Captain n00dle T/C 19:53, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
- That's right. Some people have static IPs (which stay the same) others have dynamic IPs which can change every time they turn on their computer. This is very common with people who use AOL.
- Captain-n00dle is correct in that you can't really change your IP address on demand. That is why I recommended that you open an account, that way you have the same talk page and user page every time.
- As far as getting a reply, you may, you may not, you'll just have to wait and see... :-)
- Kind Regards Marek.69 talk 20:09, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
But...
Hello Marek, and thanks for your message, but, you were able to recognize my dynamic IP address. Can't you find his/hers if you have time? If you can't, what I'll do is tell you my sandbox on Economy of Italy (with him/her, we were discussing the changes on the references I needed to give for my edit. As he/she was the one who deleted my edits, I wanted to know how to improve it). When you think the sandbox is good enough to update the mainspace article, please tell me. Also, how do you transfer your sandbox to the mainspace article? Anyway, kind regards and please reply!--Theologiae (talk) 20:33, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
- I looked at the articles which you were editing with IP 89.240.42.70 and noticed that previously IP 92.24.73.110 had made very similar (if not identical) edits to the same articles. So a lucky guess, I suppose...
- I have already found your sandbox article, User:Theologiae/Sandbox and will review it when I have some time :-)
- Kind Regards Marek.69 talk 20:49, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, I agree, you can't find an ip address, there are so many! It could be any from 0.0.0.0 to 255.255.255.255! also with regards to how to get your sandbox to the mainspace, you have to just copy/paste it, but make sure you don't undo someone else's edits when doing that! Captain n00dle T/C 22:12, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
Ok!
Ok Marek. When you have time, just tell me if you think the article is good enough for mainspace and I'll put it there. Does that protect it from reverting? Anyway, reply when you have time, and thank you still for your help. By the way, who is Captain n00dle?--Theologiae (talk) 06:01, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
- Hi again Theologiae, I will take a look. When you make your changes to the main article, it is exactly the same as making an edit to the article. No, it is not protected from being reverted. You have to make the changes as good and high quality as you can, that way they're more likely to stay.
- Another thing to remember, and it is important, the main article is probably going to be edited by other people. The copy in your sandbox was made a couple of days ago. If the article has changed since, and you copy/paste in your version, you will effectively undo the most recent changes. Make sure you check this before doing so, otherwise you will very likely have your changes reverted. It may be best to perfect your changes in your sandbox, making sure that they are correctly referenced, and then make the same changes to the main article, one by one. I think that method would be much safer.
- Oh, Captain-n00dle is another Wikipedia editor, just like yourself. To find out more info on him/her you can always click on the name, which will link to their userpage.
- Kind Regards Marek.69 talk 18:58, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
Ok!.
Yes Marek, I get your point. Thank you. However, just one thing. You said that there is nothing possible to do about totally protecting an article, and I get your point, but, if 93.45.133.14 (with a different IP) deletes my work, can you please ask him/her why? Is a person, also, just allowed to simply revert pages if there is not any vandalism on them? Anyway, reply soon please, and thank you for being so helpful. Kind regards--Theologiae (talk) 19:04, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
- You can revert an edit, if you think it is wrong, or very unlikely to be true and unreferenced, but generally revert a good faith edit only as a last resort, it is better to assume good faith and try to improve the edit, rather than revert.
- So you're right reverting should really be reserved for cases of vandalism or if something is obviously and blatantly wrong. You can find more in this article.
- The main thing is to make your edits as good as possible, then you're less likely to get reverted. If someone reverts you and you think it is unjustified, there are policies and methods in place to sort this out.
- Happy Wiki-ing -- Marek.69 talk 19:17, 13 October 2009 (UTC)

Economy of Italy
Hi Marek, I'm the anon that Theologiae talked about. Lest you think I'm a vandal, I'm notifying you of this message I left on the talk page of Economy of Italy to explain what was wrong with his revision and why I partly reverted it. I hope this helps.--93.45.107.206 (talk) 07:37, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
- Hi, thank you for your message. No I didn't think you were a vandal. I can see that you are trying to help. (Vandals don't usually leave such polite messages)
- Unfortunately, as I previously mentioned, I am no expert on economics and do not pretend to be, so I can add limited input on what is right and what is wrong. I read some of the references, but I'm still in the dark :-(
- My advice (to you and Theologiae) is still to discuss your differences and try to come to some sort of working agreement, rather than enter some sort of revert/re-revert edit war, which would be ultimately futile (and probably result in problems for you both)
- One idea I had was to approach someone who is a member of Wikipedia:WikiProject Economics who would be able to advise you better on the fine detail, and give an more 'clued-up' (impartial) opinion. A list of WP:Economics members can be found on this page.
- I'm sorry that my help is limited, but if there is anything more I can help with, please do not hesitate to come back.
- Kind Regards Marek.69 talk 14:42, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
Last straw!
Marek, I've worked so hard on these edits. I will not let an anon user just revert them for no sufficient reason. He/she obviously does not want to resolve things, as every change I make is not alright. I've left him/her a message on my talk page, however if he/she does not reply, I will revert Economy of Italy. I so hoped that I could enjoy wiki, yet this could be the last that I will put up with, as I have receieved enough reverts and negative messages during my stay. If he/she does not reply and still reverts my edits, please semi-protect economy of Italy, as this is vandalism. I am not accusing him/her of vandalism, yet this is the last time I going to deal with this beaurocracy for every single edit (it looks that there is barely an edit I've made without him/her reverting it). Still, I think you've been so helpful and thank you. Please sort this out and warn him/her.

- Hi Theologiae. Please try to remain calm. Getting angry will not achieve anything positive.
- If you read my last post, I mentioned approaching someone who is a member of Wikipedia:WikiProject Economics to get another opinion. Maybe you could try this, the list is on this page.
- As I said, I cannot say who is right or wrong on this subject, but one thing we don't want is an edit war.
- Please try to find another way to solve this problem and try to keep a friendly and civil discussion going with IP 93.45.107.206. I'm sure we can come up with some sort of resolution to this matter.
- Meanwhile I will do a little research into how I can help to achieve this. Please hold on until I do so.
- Kind Regards Marek.69 talk 16:26, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
OK, BUT...
Yes, ok Marek, but I've left him/her a message, and this has not changed matters. Just write to someone who could help me and say:
Hello -. I am coming to you for a major problem with IP address 93.45.107.206. Since you are an economist, this matter is related to you. The article Economy of Italy has an overy-negative POV, and I updated the article with relevant and verifiable information. To see how it would be, go on this link. As you'll see by the references, they are all valid and reliable. However, user 93.45.107.206 seems to be constantly reverting my work every time I update it. He/she explains him/herself, however, by the time he/she has done so, his/her IP address changes, and I cannot contact him/her. So, when I updated the article, he/she infallibly reverts it, always finding an excuse. As you are an economist, please tell me your views on this and help me resolve this problem. Ciao.--Theologiae (talk) 16:57, 14 October 2009 (UTC) Ok. Ciao
Also, is it true you speak Italian. Well, 'ciao, come stai?'.--Theologiae (talk) 17:02, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
- Theologiae, I am doing my best to help you. Please try to be patient and stay calm.
- As I said, I will try to find out the best thing to do and possibly get someone with some knowledge on the subject to comment.
- Please try to understand, here on Wikipedia thing do not happen instantly. The people editing here are doing so voluntarily, and all you can do is politely request their assistance, and then wait patiently.
- I have posted a couple of requests for an independent expert opinion. Let's just wait for that to happen
- Kind Regards Marek.69 talk 17:21, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
- P.S. As you have probably noted from my user page, I have assessed myself as level-2 in Italian, meaning I understand a lot, but I'm not that good. :-) Marek.69 talk

Ok Marek. I'm sorry of my impatience, it's just that I was more or less slapped in the face. Anyway, you've been the best, and I'll advise any new wiki user to ask help from you. Economy of Italy
Marek, I've seen the note you have sent on the Economy of Italy's talk page. What will a person with knowledge on the subject do about it? Also, can you please also contact 93.45.107.206, telling him/her to not just delete my work? It seems that he/she just has a habit of reverting anything that he/she is not pleased with, instead of improving the page. For example, on the Turin article, he/she just reverted my work because I had only 1 wikipedia reference. He/she could have just contacted me to solve the problem or just fixed it him/herself. I am not blaming 93.45.107.206 of vandalism or edit warring, yet, just tell him/her to stop doing that, as it is a lot of hard work just thrown down the drain for petty reasons. I will also try to replace my wiki references with non-wiki ones, however just tell 93.45.107.206 that reverting work is not the correct way to solve a problem.

- Hi Theologiae, thank you for your message. As I mentioned before my knowledge of economics is limited, so I am not in a position to say who is right and who is wrong on the Economy of Italy article. That is why I've requested a third party with more knowledge on the subject to help.
- I have looked at IP 93.45...'s contributions, and apart from that edit to Turin you mention, it appears they have stopped editing for the time being, unless the IP address has changed again.
- You seem to have made quite a few edits since;. Have any of these been reverted?
- I know you haven't edited Economy of Italy since 93.45...'s last reverts. It may be worth leaving that for a while, but its up to you. We may get a few helpful outside comments on the subject.
- I'm sorry for the delay in response (I'm very busy at work at the moment) and that my help has been limited, but I feel I've done as much as I can for the time being.
- Kind Regards Marek.69 talk 17:28, 16 October 2009 (UTC)
No.
No they have not been reverted, yet, I am worried at every edit I make, because it seems that 93... intercepts them, and just finds a petty excuse to revert them. When I was recognised as an IP number, all my accusations of vandalism came from this user with 93 in the front, who, I predict, is the same one that we are discussing about. He/she was the one who reverted all my edits, sent me accusations of vandalism and nearly blocked me from editing. I do not know what article is safe from his/her revertion. I see, all wikipedia edits are not perfect, yet, you cannot just revert one's edits just because they do not please oneself. I am busy too, yet, this week I'm free, so I can contact or be contacted much more frequently.
By the way, are you Polish, as Marek is a Polish name and you're level 4 in that language?

- Theologiae, If your edits are not being reverted, there is no point worrying. You need to leave your dispute IP user 93.45.107.206 behind you and move forward. Start enjoying your time on Wikipedia. I think that if something just causes you problems, there is little point in doing it. If you have problems with certain article, just move on to another. English question
Many thanks for wanting to help me. You gave me among others things several links, wich I now have red. At one place I found a strange (?) example. (that is "unknown to my knowligde so far") at one of theese sites. The following confuses me, since it's an example of "accepted" english.
Oranges are an acid fruit, bananas are alkaline, and pears are close to neutral; these distinctions are rarely discussed
It's the first part I find a bit strange - "Oranges" are many (pluralis), but "fruit" is just one (singularis). Therefore (to me who don't have english as primary language) it seems to me that the correct wuld be eighter "Oranges are acid fruits..." or "An orange is an acid fruit..." - even thow the centence continues with other examples of fruits.
best reguards Bengt Johanneson (talk) 23:34, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
If possible, could You explain this.
- Hi Bengt, thank you for you message.
- The word 'Fruit' is already also plural (a bit like the word 'Fish')
- You can also say 'Fruits' (just like you can also use 'Fishes')
- However, if you add the 's', it usually means you are referring to more than one variety of fruit.
- i.e. Oranges are fruit. Apple, pears and bananas are fruits.
- I hope I've explained clearly.
- Kind Regards Marek.69 talk 23:51, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
- Many thanks for the splendid explination. In my first language (swedish, or rather southern swedish but thats of no matter here)
- it's the same some words are the same in plural and singularis.
- However "several fruit" as acceptable was a new knowlidge for me.
- So I've learnt something today aswell !

sockpuppets
A while ago, I had a Wikipedia account that i used mostly for vandalism. It may or may not have been banned, I don't remember. This time around, i hope to contribute to Wikipedia in a good way. Am I allowed? Dizzizz (talk) 00:21, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
- Hurm... I would love to have you edit productively, it would be great! But..: Wikipedia:Sockpuppetry says that you can't just create a new account to get around a ban (Wikipedia:CLEANSTART doesn't apply if you have a ban). Your best bet is to log into your old account and fill out a request here: Wikipedia:APPEAL. Regards, Captain n00dle T/C 00:30, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
...I honestly don't remember the password. is there a way to look for banned accounts? i have the username. Dizzizz (talk) 00:34, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Dizzizz, thank you for you message (and your honesty) IMHO The answer is Yes, but on certain conditions:
- (i) Now you have this new account you must not use the old account again. Please read Wikipedia:Sock puppetry carefully
- In particular read the Legitimate uses of alternate accounts section: ‘Discontinuing an old account means that it will not be used again. When an account is discontinued, it should note on its user page that it is inactive—for example, with the {{retired}} tag—to prevent the switch being seen as an attempt to sock puppet.
- (ii) Do not vandalise again.
- i.e. Keep your nose clean If you become a productive member of the community, you will get a lot more out of Wikipedia. If you show you can be productive, I'm sure the community can forgive some minor indiscretions/mistakes from the past.
- However, that is just my opinion.

Ok, i remembered the password, and i was not banned, i just got a warning. is this sufficient for retirement? user:dizzyizzy Dizzizz (talk) 00:42, 20 October 2009 (UTC)

- Hi, Thank you for your message.
- I cannot see anything seriously wrong.
- In this edit [11] to the Bosnia and Herzegovina article, you changed the meaning of a cited piece of text, without providing addition citation/reference for your changes.
- i.e. You changed:
- "Bosnia has been inhabited at least since the Neolithic age. In the early Bronze Age, the Neolithic population was replaced by more warlike people of supposed Indo-European origin, the Illyres or Illyrians."
- to:
- "Bosnia has been inhabited at least since the Neolithic age by the Illyrians, a warlike people who spoke an Indo-European language."
- which technically is not the same.
- To change the meaning of the text like this you should really provide a valid citation.
- I mentioned this briefly in my edit summary. I also mentioned that I considered your edits to be in good faith.
- Please feel free to re-add your edit, with suitable citations/references.

Nice to meet you, Marek69. I'm glad for your message! I always edit articles in ja.wikipedia, but sometimes refer in en.wikipedia. Though all I can do is correcting TYPO in the article, I hope to see more of you! --Ignore226 (talk) 19:20, 20 October 2009 (UTC)

Hi
I was trying to emphasize the aboriginal nature of the Illyrians, which is sometimes undermined by various political ideologies, but perhaps I did not communicate enough neutrality.
In the past, I have been guilty of some vandalism (this was a while back). I don't know if you can access and see my IP's previous edits, but let's just say I wrote my share of irresponsible things on Wikipedia. Anyway, I've reformed myself since then, and I'm sorry for those silly actions, and I'm glad you folks hold everyone accountable. That's important.
Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.201.167.158 (talk) 20:41, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
- Hi again, I'm glad to hear that you are a reformed character

Dazzle!
Hi! I noticed that you have Dazzle! installed in your monobook.js page... I'd like to try to keep track of who has it installed, so I was wondering if I could add your name to Wikipedia:Dazzle!#Users... if you'd rather not be listed, I'm OK with that to. I just thought I'd ask. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 02:50, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Drilnoth, No problem. I've just added it. :-) Marek.69 talk 02:52, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
- That was fast. :) Thanks! –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 02:54, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

edits on Allotransplantation page
Please read discussion page before making accusations, my intent is to improve the quality of the article. If you disagree with my edits justify yourself. Thanks Methusedalot (talk) 04:02, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
- It would help if you could please provide some sort of edit summary for your edits, because if you delete a section of text without any explanation it looks like vandalism. Kind Regards Marek.69 talk 04:11, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
edit summaries
While edit summaries are good practice they are not required. I understand you are trying to prevent vandalism, but you should go to the page you are protecting and actually read it and the discussion page before threatening other good faith editors with accusations of vandalism. I respect your intention to improve and maintain Wikipedia now please return the favour. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Methusedalot (talk • contribs) 04:19, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
- I already have (removed my messages from your talk page) and have let your edits stand, but I will repeat my advice on edit summaries, even if it's as simple as ‘Please see talk page’,
- I am sure it will save you a lot of misunderstandings and problems with other editors in the future.
