Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Nicolò Tron (diplomat), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Eastern (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Typo?

[edit]

https://core.ac.uk/download/pdf/84462604.pdf states that File:Collina presso Nagasaki, bozzetto di Alexandre Bailly, Michel Jambon per Madama Butterfly (1906) - Archivio Storico Ricordi ICON000079.jpg is by Marcel Jambon, not Michel Jambon as the file upload states. Is this a typo in the archive? Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 7.5% of all FPs 20:32, 19 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Anyway, as you may have seen on WT:OPERA, I'm at four restorations from the drop, which I don't think is bad after three days. Threw Puccini and Rosa Raisa up on FPC. Want to wait on Madama Butterfly until the above's resolved, and I'm waiting for Gabrielle Ray to be in the article a little longer. Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 7.5% of all FPs 06:03, 21 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Adam Cuerden: Thank you! I informed the Archivio Ricordi staff about your work - they are grateful and they are verifying the information about Jambon. --Marco Chemello (WMIT) (talk) 08:45, 21 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Adam Cuerden: Thank you for the tip, I just corrected the typo. --LutiV (talk) 09:01, 21 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Been doing a second pass over the images, and have a few comments, if you don't mind.

First off, Documentation:

It'll help usage if we can be as sure of what we have as possible.

Secondly, on a different topic, File:Walküre (Waltraute) (mezosoprano), figurino di Carl Emil Doepler per Die Walküre (1876) - Archivio Storico Ricordi ICON003994.jpg. I believe this is from a book of Doepler's designs. If you can get me the complete set, I will promise you to restore every single one. It's a project I've wanted to do for a while, but a bunch of the files cut off the edges of the artwork - I remember the one for the dwarves was rather bad in that respect.

Thirdly, and this is probably more of a "me" problem - I've promised myself to do at least 50% female-related restorations. This does not include fictional women, but can include costume designs for named actresses, or anything designed by a woman. If you have anyhthing like that, it would be appreciated.

Fourthly, File:M.elle_Fonti,_figurino_di_artista_ignoto_per_La_revanche_de_Candaule_(s.d.)_-_Archivio_Storico_Ricordi_ICON013578.jpg is probably from about 1869. Fonti was in the première cast [File:M.elle_Fonti,_figurino_di_artista_ignoto_per_La_revanche_de_Candaule_(s.d.)_-_Archivio_Storico_Ricordi_ICON013578.jpg], and the première was in 1869. I don't... think it was revived. The quote about it at Jean-Jacques-Joseph Debillemont does not bode well for revivals. Kind of looks like there's significant amount of the edge of the image cut off in that one as well, since there's a bit of edge sticking in at the lower left. If you're doing the scanning anew, it's probably best to include more edge - easier to crop than rescan.

Thanks, and sorry for all my rambling! Honestly, this is an amazing image drop, and please don't take my nitpicks as anything more than that. Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 7.5% of all FPs 06:32, 22 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps of more interest than my rambling: It looks like, at the moment, Rosa Raisa, Madama Butterfly, and maybe Puccini (it hasn't hit quorum yet) will become featured pictures tomorrow, which is a good start, no? Couple more up for voting, but think we're hitting the traditional start of University slowdown. Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 7.5% of all FPs 06:12, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Adam Cuerden: Great! Thank you again. --Marco Chemello (WMIT) (talk) 06:59, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like, of the six I've done so far, two (Puccini, Rosa Raisa) have passed, two more (Madama Butterfly and Gabrielle Ray are passing, and another two have just been nominated. I'm thinking that big group photo of Verdi next, and I think I might nominate Edgar without changes, because there really is nothing for me to do with that one. The order of completion and order of nomination is going to vary a little bit for various reasons (big one being if it's already in the article, so I don't have to wait for usage to stabilise). I'll keep it updated on WT:OPERA. Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 7.5% of all FPs 21:43, 1 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, one question, although I don't know how answerable it is: is this from La Wally's première production, or a later one? If we know the production, that tells us which actress it was designed for, which adds some value. Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 7.5% of all FPs 21:48, 1 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Adam Cuerden: 1892 is the year of debut for La Wally, so it's the première production. --Marco Chemello (WMIT) (talk) 12:22, 2 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Right! Wasn't sure if there was enough time for a second to be mounted that year. Cheers! Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 7.6% of all FPs 18:26, 2 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, one last thing. Licensing. I think the license should be {{Cc-by-sa-4.0|Archivio Storico Ricordi}} - that's what I've been using for my restorations; it displays (more-or-less; Commons' version looks a little different) as:

Otherwise you get this:

Which doesn't really indicate who to credit, and it's not entirely obvious if you don't know about the collaboration. Easy enough fixed, but worth noting before the next drop. Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 7.6% of all FPs 20:21, 2 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Adam Cuerden: You are right, I'll apply your suggestion. Thank you. --Marco Chemello (WMIT) (talk) 10:32, 12 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Glad to help! I really hope I'm not being a pain. Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 7.6% of all FPs 09:54, 17 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

What is the button to save drafts in my sandbox?

[edit]

Good evening Marco, I don't know if I published by mistake what I had written in my sand box last thursday during the English class. I have a doubt about the right button I have to use to save the contents of my sandbox without publishing it in the community. You said not to use the blue buttons ... but I had already pressed the blu button on the top (on the right). In that page there are 2 blu buttons, are both wrong? (I tried to attach an image but it's quite difficult. The system blocks me) Please, could you check my sandbox and... finally what is the right botton to press when you want just to save the your draft in the sandbox? Thanks a lot.

--Pantone23 (talk)

Dear Pantone23, as I specified the only button not to press is "Submit your draft for review!". The other button, "Publish", means simply to save in your sandbox. Good work. --Marco Chemello (WMIT) (talk) 19:21, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
