Huw Edwards

[edit]

Hi there. Without wanting to go into an edit war, I think you may have posted the wrong ISNI link for Huw Edwards the journalist. This one links to the books listed on his Wikipedia page: https://isni.oclc.org/xslt/DB=1.2/SET=2/TTL=1/SHW?FRST=2 . The link you sent me looks like it has combined the two together as there is another T. Huw Edwards who appears to be a university professor. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Dom Bédos de Celles, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Caux. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:00, 24 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It looks as if nobody welcomed you, - sorry about that. (And then I saw that Diannaa did welcome you, sorry again.) How could you have known that there is a guideline WP:BRD, which says: when reverted, don't revert back (even if you are 100% sure you are right), but discuss on the article talk page. Please do that, explaining step by step why you think changes would improve the article. Pierre Boulez was a person I admired greatly, even met once at a reception after a concert (but sadly don't speak French). Look for my name in the archives, and you will understand that I avoid discussions, - it's too personal. FAC, in the likely case you don't know, means Featured article candidate, - featured article meaning the highest quality, - good enough to be mentioned as article of the day on the WP:Main page. Nice to meet you, and great user name! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:01, 8 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Adding: I read that you'd prefer your user name differently. You could request that, see WP:NAMECHANGE and follow the instructions. Probably the sooner the better, before people remember you by the current name. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:35, 8 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
thanks for the welcome.
Is it possible to add the info *after* it becomes a featured article or perhaps add them as footnotes?
Have a nice day and nice to meet you too
also, if you mind, tell me about your meeting with boulez - he is one of my favourite composers and conductors!!!
MarcelDuprè1886 (talk) 16:56, 9 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
As I said, standing in a line of admirers after a concert, and speaking not much French just handshake and smile. I was blessed with a little more talk at a similar occasion in Tallinn, exchanging some thoughts (in German) with Arvo Pärt. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:04, 9 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Boulez: best discuss right now, perhaps one item at a time. Thank you for expanding Cochereau. I wanted to mention him in a recent DYK (Did you know ...?) and was told that the article was too bad, no inline citations. Same for Mme Duruflé. I improved her article, - could you perhaps do something for him? "... best of all time" absolutely needs some reference ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 23:10, 9 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the improvements.
This is not a reference per se but you should realise that the opinion re. Cochereau is shared by many organists including myself. It's a fact that's quite obvious and doesn't need to be said, but maybe it should be removed?
You decide.
MarcelDupré1886 (talk) 23:21, 9 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
P.S.: I have been trying to add the full names, birthdates and years etc. of MANY organists, composers. and musicians!!!
MarcelDupré1886 (talk) 23:22, 9 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I don't remove much, only vandalism, but it would be good to cite one or two respected voices who say so. If it's obvious, it doesn't need to be said at al ;) - I'm more concerned about the absence of references for the rest of the article, and I have no time for digging. - Gabriel Dessauer and Ignace Michiels are friends of mine. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:47, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Frédéric Blanc

[edit]

Would you perhaps have some free time to deal with the tags for Frédéric Blanc, - see also talk:valereee where I linked to a book source and one for the Chartres prize. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:53, 20 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I don't want to be rude, but I may have failed to understand what to do here: am I supposed to provide sources that show that Blanc's notable? Either way, I will try to find more reliable sources regarding Blanc's history.
Thank you!
MarcelDupré1886 (talk) 12:11, 20 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
P.S.: I may consider creating an article for Yves [André Claude] Castagnet - he's been titular organist at Notre-Dame de Paris' choir organ since 1988; born 10 May 1964 in Paris. He is also a composer.
MarcelDupré1886 (talk) 12:16, 20 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The Wikipedia policy you mention to justify your edit is a new one to me; could you kindly cite it for me? With thanks, --Smerus (talk) 12:32, 21 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Short caption — Infoboxes for things that change over time can mention the year of the image briefly, e.g. "Cosby in 2010" for Bill Cosby. If the image is of a person doing that for which they are known at an otherwise common event, the correct verb delivers the message, e.g. "Jackson performing in 1988" for Michael Jackson. As an additional example, animals may differ from the one pictured, e.g. Noisy miner "Subspecies leachi" in Noisy miner, photographs captioned simply "Male" and "Female" for Lion, and "Publicity photo for Jailhouse Rock (1957)" for Elvis Presley. While more detail could be added, consider carefully whether it might distract the reader from the subject of the article or inform the reader about the importance of the subject.
"This page in a nutshell: Image captions should be succinct and informative."
It means omitting first names I believe, perhaps talk to Gerda. I am relatively new.
MarcelDupré1886 (talk) 12:42, 21 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It doesn't mean that; I suggest that you could be chary about making edits on the basis of what you believe. It's also the case that the identity of the portrait has been (incorrectly) challenged in past discussion. I am therefore reverting your edit. The wording was confirmed when the article was made a WP:FA. --Smerus (talk) 13:14, 21 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please read WP:DOB and never add a date of birth to a WP:BLP without including a reliable source. I have reverted your change to Zara Rutherford. Schazjmd (talk) 17:51, 21 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

L'Ascension

[edit]

Oh, one thing you should do with L'Ascension is provide sources. They wouldn't need to be anything too complex—even online articles could work.

Referencing on L'Ascension

[edit]

Hi @MarcelDupré1886: This article doesn't have any in-line citations. Please take a look at WP:REFB which is a wee tutorial on how to create references. That should help. I plan to send the article to draft, where you can work on and then submit it for review. This is part of the page review process at WP:NPP. It doesn't have enough citations to remain in mainspace. Once you have finished it, submit it for review and give me a shout and I'll review it for you. If its good enough we can bring it back to mainspace. Its sizing up to be a pretty decent article but each line needs a ref. Once you get a handle on that, they don't need to draftified as there is reference prove its notable. Hope that helps. If you need help on anything, please drop me a ping, or leave a message on my talk page. scope_creepTalk 06:31, 29 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

L'Ascension moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, L'Ascension, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. scope_creepTalk 00:47, 30 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for my delay in responding.
Thanks for your help. I'll begin properly writing the article soon, and I'm very sorry for the horrible layout of the article at the moment

Information icon Hello, I'm Xaosflux. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Frostbite, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. An edit you made to this article was removed, it contained no source information and was challenged via a support ticket. If the statement is accurate, you may reintroduce it, however please be sure to include a reliable source reference.xaosflux Talk 23:19, 8 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

György Cziffra's names

[edit]

Hi, I recently saw your modifications on the György Cziffra page, and I have two questions. The first one is, where did you find the forename 'Christian'? Could you provide the source? The second one is that even if 'Christian' is present in some document (in the birth certificate, most likely), is it appropriate to use it in his international name too? Did you find such a document containing this full name ('Christian Georges Cziffra')? Thank you. --Davidsusu (talk) 14:35, 11 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits.
