Overlinking
[edit]I implore you to please read MOS:OL. You have been going from article to article adding links, and about half of them are unnecessary. Everyday words that every readers knows the meaning of don't need to be linked. Nationalities and ethnicities also need not be linked. As well, you only have to link something once. Please take a moment to review some of your recent edits. Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 22:39, 19 May 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks and sorry about that. All articles were mine was most recent, I have just reverted them back to the prior version, and manually unliked on the others MarbleGarden (talk) 03:00, 21 May 2022 (UTC)

Women in Red
[edit]Hi there, MarbleGarden, and welcome to Women in Red. It's good to see you are interested in improving our coverage of women. I see that until now most of your edits have been in connection with wikilinks, categories, formatting and references. While this work is useful, you might like to start creating articles yourself as this will help us to reduce the gender gap. If so, you might find it useful to look through some of our essays, perhaps starting with our Ten Simple Rules. Why not browse through our redlists to see if you can find the names of women who deserve to be covered? You might also like to create a user page where you can explain your interests and add the Women in Red user box. Please let me know if you need help with this or any other matters. Happy editing!--Ipigott (talk) 06:08, 23 April 2023 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for April 27
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Winona Cargile Alexander, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Duval County. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Edward H. Betts
[edit]Your recent changes to the Edward H. Betts page has introduced a number of problems and errors. One example is the sentence:
"He was known for his abstract paintings which he often developed using an improvisational method, particularly those of realistic watercolors. "
Betts used different approaches for his acrylic abstracts and realistic watercolors. That idea was, I hope, captured by the original wording.
I appreciate your efforts, but in my opinion the article should be reverted. Oadys (talk) 14:50, 8 May 2023 (UTC)
- I am not particularly fluent in this topic, I simply found it under "needs help" through the Orphan project and intended to volunteer. If you are more knowledgeable then please make changes or revert as you see fit and I will not disrupt the page. MarbleGarden (talk) 16:23, 8 May 2023 (UTC)

[edit]Hello, I'm TJRC. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Anchorage, Kentucky, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. TJRC (talk) 22:04, 8 May 2023 (UTC)
- Hello, I added several sources to the person's profile, so when they are listed under notable people, should the sources be on the city's page as well? MarbleGarden (talk) 00:31, 10 May 2023 (UTC)
- Your edit to Anchorage, Kentucky should include a reference (or more than one if that's necessary) that supports the facts you are adding to the article. Your edit says that Alexander is/was author and historian; that she was Britain-based and raised in China; and that her family also maintained a permanent residence in Anchorage. You should include sufficient references that all those claims are supported. TJRC (talk) 01:51, 11 May 2023 (UTC)

Wikidata links
[edit]FYI you generally aren't supposed to link to Wikidata on the English Wikipedia per Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Archive 204#New RFC on linking to Wikidata * Pppery * it has begun... 20:27, 30 May 2023 (UTC)
- Good to know, thank you. So interlanguage link is preferred where possible then? Is it warranted in Infoboxes or photo captions, or no? I couldn't tell whether they had reached a consensus on that or not. MarbleGarden (talk) 21:13, 30 May 2023 (UTC)
- I personally treat photo captions as part of the body when I do my monthly enforcement of the linked RfC. For infoboxes, AFAIK the community has not come to any consensus, and interlanguage links (using {{ill}}, to actual articles on other language Wikipedias) are generally acceptable. * Pppery * it has begun... 22:41, 30 May 2023 (UTC)

Hello, MarbleGarden,
You tagged this category as part of a CFD discussion but the link in the tag doesn't direct to any CFD discussion involving this category. Could you correct the link? Or, if you haven't yet, you need to nominate this category on a CFD page and start the discussion. You can't just place a tag on a category, that's just one step in the CFD nomination. Thank you. [edit]Women in Red 8th Anniversary | |
In July 2015 around 15.5% of the English Wikipedia's biographies were about women. As of July 2023, 19.61% of the English Wikipedia's biographies are about women. That's a lot of biographies created in the effort to close the gender gap. Happy 8th Anniversary!
