Note 1: The Liverpool OWS web page first team squad listing identifies a pool of 50+ players that includes many more than those who would normally be considered to be first team players. For the purposes of this worksheet analysis, all of those listed players that have NOT been assigned squad numbers for the current season were disregarded, but with the following exception made for players currently out on loan to other clubs. If the player was a regular participant in last season's first team squad and the only reason he was not assigned a squad number this season was because his loan period with the other club commenced before this season's numbers were assigned (e.g., Alberto Aquilani and Emiliano Insúa) then he was still included as being a bona fide member of the LFC first team squad.
Note 2: The following players who were registered in Liverpool's UEFA squad for the Europa League 3rd Qualifying Round and subsequent Play-off Round, and who all made playing appearances in one or more of the games played in those rounds, were removed from the UEFA squad that was re-registered on 1 Sep. 10:
  • LIST A: 04 - DF - FOR - Alberto Aquilani (started a season-long loan at Juventus on 21 Aug. 2010)
  • LIST A: 01 - GK - FOR - Diego Cavalieri (transferred to Cesena on 23 Aug. 2010)
  • LIST A: 20 - MF - FOR - Javier Mascherano (transferred to Barcelona on 30 Aug. 2010)
  • LIST B: 38 - FW - YTH - Lauri Dalla Valle (transferred to Fulham on 31 Aug. 2010)
Note 3: The following 3 players replaced the above 4 players in the Liverpool UEFA squad that was re-registered on 1 Sep. 10:
  • LIST A: 01 - GK - HGP - Brad Jones (transferred from Middlesbrough on 17 Aug. 2010)
  • LIST A: 04 - MF - FOR - Raul Meireles (transferred from Porto on 29 Aug. 2010)
  • LIST A: 03 - DF - HGP - Paul Konchesky (transferred from Fulham on 31 Aug. 2010)
Note 4: "U21" status goalkeeper Péter Gulácsi joined LFC on transfer deadline day 2008. One doesn't have to be a maths wizard to realize that as of transfer deadline day 2010 he had been registered with LFC for exactly "two uninterrupted years" and thus he finally now qualifies as a "YTH" status player. When he was first registered in the LFC UEFA squad back in July he failed that two year criterion and had to be LIST A registered in a "FOR" slot, and that was still his status in the LFC UEFA squad displayed in the Europa League area of UEFA.com on 8 Sep. 10 (which was still showing all the prior Play-off Round registrations for all the Europa League teams). This area of the UEFA web site was finally updated on 9 Sep. 10 but Gulácsi was still displayed as being LIST A registered. This is most likely because LFC has only registerd 21 senior players in its 24-man LIST A squad (i.e., there are a total of 3 such "U21" players in this squad), so with one senior player slot still vacant there was probably no urgency to remove Gulácsi from the submitted LIST A form and re-register him via LIST B instead. OTOH, it may also reflect that on 1 Sep. 10 Gulácsi possibly still failed the two year "YTH" criterion by literarally a few hours!
