German Nazi Flag

Is it right to use the Nazi flag on the Croatian page to represent Germany? Commiserations on your loss tonight as an England and Burnley fan I know the feeling. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.23.16.100 (talk) 21:27, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Croatia national football team

Hey I left a message on the talk page for the Croatia national football team about expanding the article to the quality of a Featured one. As a common contributor to it, please take a look at the message on the talk page and see if you can add anything useful based on the guidelines.

I understand that Poljud and Maksimir are considered the "Top Venues" and I'm aware of the agreement that designates that. However, I think it is only fair to add Stadion Kantrida to the list, since other than Maksimir, it has hosted the second most national team games. Also, it is interesting that the Croatian team has never lost at Kantrida, a feat that the mighty Poljud and Maksimir cannot claim.

For your information...

[edit]

Please do not use the "Undo" feature with default edit summary on good faith edits, as you did here [1]. It is considered rude, and should be used for vandalism only. I didn't even know Giuseppe was his real name, and even if it were, I haven't heard it actually used (see WP:COMMONNAME). After you reverted, I did make a check though.

By the way, I came to the article because I saw your report on ANI. I found the article Ante Mamić, obviously created by the same vandal, which I nominated for the deletion.

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Malez! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 3 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

  1. Krešimir Makarin - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Pistons templates

[edit]

Saw that you were improving the various Detroit Pistons' templates, including Template:Detroit Pistons 1989–90 NBA champions. It appears you were trying to match the colors in the template with the team's colors, but using a red font on a blue background makes it very difficult to read. Also, since red is used for WP:REDLINKs, using red text is not normally recommended. Of the combinations, probably a white font on a the blue background is a mix of easy of reading and an attempt to match the colors. See WP:COLOR for more info. — MrDolomite • Talk 19:35, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Filip Ozobić has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails notability guidelines - has not played in the fully professional league or cup and not received significant coverage in reliable sources.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Barocci (talk) 04:08, 2 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

On another note and topic

[edit]

Some of the NBA Stuff in the templates on the seasons articles are in three different formats. I think we need to get them all into one template format in order to make stuff standardized. This will be a painstaking task in order to get it accomplished.IBS101 (talk) 18:35, 1 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I put two different topics in my notes on the seasons article, and the worst one to correct is "converting", which the next worse is "other converting". The other couple is navbox standardization to just navbox instead of Navbox NBA or NBA navbox to make stuff display correctly in decade format. I will work on some of them over the next couple of weeks, but I would surely like some help if you can.IBS101 (talk) 20:19, 1 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ben Gordon's jersey

[edit]

Are there any recent sources that confirm that Gordon will wear #8? NBA.com currently lists both Gordon and Brandon Knight with #7. Obviously, something will have to change before the season starts, but it's not clear to me where #8 comes from. I know Gordon tweeted something about changing his jersey before last season started, but nothing became of that. Zagalejo^^^ 02:38, 18 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Player positions

[edit]

Please stop adding overly detailed descriptions of player positions in infoboxes of Croatian players. The standard defender-midfielder-forward distinction is sufficient. Formations may change from game to game and from club to club, players sometime play in positions other than their usual ones due to teamates' injuries, and so on. We do not need to list every single position a player has appeared at during his career on the pitch. Timbouctou (talk) 20:48, 19 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, sorry for taking so long to reply. There is no exact rule against listing multiple or more detailed positions, but there's a broad consensus of football editors that these should be entered only when a player is equally known for playing in more than one line (like for example Darijo Srna who spent a big part of his career playing as right back for Shakhtar but as right side midfielder for Croatia) or for more specific position descriptions when a player is well known in that exact position. Defenders who got moved around in the defensive line are normally just "defenders", and the same goes for midfielders (unless they spent their career as exclusively "attacking midfielders" or "defensive midfielders"). Again, there's no rule forbidding you to put multiple positions that I know of, but the general tendency is to keep it as simple as possible. Remember - articles on Wikipedia are often read by people who are not experts on the subject and many people do not know what a deep-lying playmaker is. Besides, it's just the infobox - you are free to elaborate on this more in the article body or in the lead if you wish. Timbouctou (talk) 22:53, 22 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Ben Wallace Freethrow.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Ben Wallace Freethrow.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Mosmof (talk) 18:30, 25 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

For this message specifically, if it's from your family collection and it's never been published, then it can't be a non-free image, as it fails WP:NFCC#4, which requires previous publication. You'd need your family to license an image with a free license that's compatible with Wikipedia. If it has been published, then you should cite the publication that published it, and make sure the license is correct. It would also help to provide more information on the photograph, i.e. who took the photograph, when and where, because if it's old enough, there's a possibility that the copyright has expired. --Mosmof (talk) 14:40, 26 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Socks on Croatia national football team

[edit]

N1cky,

Forgive me, I didn't know anything about FIFA's one-colour schemes. I made my edit in good faith.

However, please don't be rude to me for what you believe to be an edit that isn't "useful," as your very mean edit summary said. You don't need to know about my motives for editing an aticle, I certainly am not interested in yours, but I am just as honourable a Wikipedian as you, and my goal was only to make a page better, because I saw Croatia play their matches in the chequered jersey at Euro 2012 (a UEFA-sanctioned event, not a FIFA one) with white socks, and both of the play-offs against with white socks. In qualifications, in the few matches where they wore chequers, they *did* a few times wear blue socks, however in the away match against Scotland they also wore the chequers with *BLUE* shorts. So I very reasonably figured: at the match of any import in which the national team wears the chequers, they wear white socks.

I have been on Wikipedia for the better part of the past decade, not because I strive to make useless edits, but rather to make USEFUL ones indeed. Not a scintilla less useful than yours, to say the least. --OettingerCroat (talk) 22:20, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Hns-dres.jpg.

This image is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the image description page states the source and copyright status of the derivative work, it only names the creator of the original work without specifying the status of their copyright over the work.

Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the original image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. Thanks again for your cooperation. — ξxplicit 06:15, 15 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
