unsourced changes to Back to the Bando

[edit]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at Back to the Bando, without citing a reliable source using an inline citation that clearly supports the material. The burden is on the person wishing to keep in the material to meet these requirements, as a necessary (but not always sufficient) condition. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Gab4gab (talk) 18:37, 27 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I see you've added the content again and mentioned a source in your edit summary. You really need to add the reference to the article as an inline citation as it says above. The Sound Cloud source has the problem of being user supplied content. Maybe BlackAkademi has supplied the content, it's not clear. Try to follow the links above for instructions on adding the reference. If you need help let me know. Gab4gab (talk) 18:54, 31 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Kudpung: There is no correlation between me and User:KEV2179413. I don't even know him. I would like to know what has made you come to that conclusion. Maintaining (talk) 21:50, 22 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I did not express any conclusions, I merely asked a question which was initiated by you both editing the same rather unusual articles and sometimes within seconds of each other. It is normal for such coincidences to ring an alarm bell. We have systems that can establish fairly accurately if two or more accounts are being operated by the same person. We don't usually contact the editors before we run a check, but I usually assume good faith and ask first. Thank you for your answer. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 04:04, 23 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

A page you started (Paranoia: A True Story) has been reviewed!

[edit]

Thanks for creating Paranoia: A True Story, Maintaining!

Wikipedia editor Boleyn just reviewed your page, and wrote this note for you:

Redirect; doesn't meet WP:NALBUM or WP:GNG. Edit can be reverted if reliable sources can be added to prove this wrong.

To reply, leave a comment on Boleyn's talk page.

Boleyn (talk) 18:06, 16 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Maintaining, the coverage you have given is one blog-type website plus press releases. It's WP:TOOSOON. Let the redirect stand until after it's been released a week or two, and if it's charted or got proper reviews, then it may meet WP:NALBUM or WP:GNG. At the moment, it's nowhere close. If you revert again, it would be looking at prod/AfD, which might then be a proper deletion, rather than a redirect, which you can easily undo and edit when it meets the criteria. Not all albums are notable. Best wishes, Boleyn (talk) 06:31, 17 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Magnolia677: I am not sure why I need to add sources in the page when the producer tags are on the songs themselves. They can be clearly heard. Unless the mentioned songs did not have production tags, I would not have added the producer(s).

The article I Can't Rap Vol. 1 has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable/no charting, no reviews

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Jennica / talk 02:21, 1 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

With this edit at Lil Pump (mixtape), you added text with sources. Unfortunately, I am not able to locate the text you added in the sources cited. It's probably my error, but hopefully you can help me out. For example, you wrote that "Bighead" produced the fourth track entitled Crazy. To support this, you added this source and this source. At both sources, I was not able to find any mention of "Bighead". Please help me out. Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 00:33, 14 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Magnolia677: Tidal includes a feature called "Track Info". It lists all of the song's contributors like songwriter(s), producer(s), mixer(s), etc. In order to see this, you have to click on the three white dots at the far end of the track, and click on "Track Info". There, it will show the credits for the song. Maintaining (talk) 00:40, 14 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. Why did you leave out "TLG" as one of the producers? Magnolia677 (talk) 00:49, 14 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
"TLG" is the abbreviation of the label that Lil Pump is signed to, which is "Tha Light Global". In which, I left it out. They are not producers, solely a record label. Maintaining (talk) 00:55, 14 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The Mr. Davis article already has DY listed as a producer. I was linking DY to the album's page. The article has a reference for the production credit. There is no need to add a reference if a page is already a reliable source.
The reference at Mr. Davis is a dead link. Many editors put a lot of work into creating and editing these articles. By adding unsourced content you undermine the hard work of other editors, and make Wikipedia less reliable to its users. I have cautioned you a number of times about adding unsourced content. If you need help, please see Help:Referencing for beginners. Thanks for your cooperation. Magnolia677 (talk) 18:57, 15 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I have since updated the link as I did not know the link was dead. If I add a content without a reference, it due to the page of either the song or album already existing and having confirmed credits or a source to verify it. Maintaining (talk) 19:04, 15 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

For the Yo Gotti feature, the Deadstar mixtape lists him as a guest appearance on track 1. For the Faded Blackid credit, He's credited as a writer on Tidal, but doesn't list his birth name like the other producers. I got it from his Soundclick profile. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=1353702 Maintaining (talk) 21:39, 16 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I don't doubt that you made these edits in good faith, or that the information you added is correct. The problem is that these rap music articles are filled with unsourced content, and adding more unsourced content to them doesn't necessarily make them better. Is there a reason you don't want to add sources? I added a link above to WP:REFB, and there are many editors who will help you if you ask. Thanks again for your cooperation. Magnolia677 (talk) 22:34, 16 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I understand. All of my edits are made in good faith. I usually do add source(s), sometimes I forget or just think since the producer is credited on the album, I wouldn't need to add source(s). Same goes for when a artist is featured on an album or mixtape. Maintaining (talk) 22:41, 16 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Beach House 3

[edit]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Beach House 3 (album) a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Beach House 3. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 23:44, 23 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! The reason that I copied the said content is because I am not used to the Wiki guides. I've done it before on other pages and had it reverted. I have redirected the Beach House 3 (album) page to Beach House 3. Highly appreciated for the links to the Wiki guidelines. Maintaining (talk) 00:03, 24 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hopefully, an administrator will merge the two page histories as both were being worked on at the same time, it seems. --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 00:33, 24 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

My changes are not unsourced. If you were to simply visit the album's page Pressure, the credentials are there. The link to the page is supported as a source. The tracklist is confirmed. I have only added links to the album, so that the orphan will be removed. Maintaining (talk) 23:34, 6 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
When you add unsourced content to Wikipedia you undermine its reliability as a source. This is not fair to readers or to your fellow editors who take the time to source their edits. I have cautioned you several times. Please stop adding unsourced content to Wikipedia. Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 23:42, 6 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
If you are gonna criticize me about "unsourced content", you should learn the differences between unsourced and sourced. The link to the album serves as a source. If an album is linked, why would I relink the same source that's on the album page? There is no need neither is it reasonable. I noticed that you have cautioned me many times, but you don't caution others. My edits are backed up with source. It only takes either one or a few clicks to view the source(s) in the album's page. The other songs in YG and Kodak Black's discography don't have any sort of source(s), but my edits are deemed liable as "unsourced". I actually source my edits if you wouldn't mind checking my edits. If you pick me out the bunch, might as well warn others as well. You don't do the latter, so you decide to warn me rather than the others. Maintaining (talk) 01:06, 7 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I looked at the article Pressure (album), which you created today, and where readers are to go--as you infer above--to unearth the sources for your edits. On that article, you wrote:
  • Title: "Pressure", featuring Kodak Black and YG
  • Writer(s):
To support you edit, you added three sources to the "background" section:[1][2][3].
I may have missed it, but in any of those three sources, where does it say that either Kodak Black or YG "wrote" the song "Pressure". Not performed it, but as you stated, "wrote" it? Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 01:58, 7 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The tracklist confirmed their feature and contribution. It's also a studio album, so they shall be credited. Any featured artist who has been featured in Jeezy's album(s) have been credited as a writer, alongside producers. Ex. Trap or Die 3 and Seen It All: The Autobiography. The album's official credits are currently listed on Post Malone's official website, perhaps you could make some adjustments on the page accordingly. Hayman30 (talk) 12:24, 27 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I have updated the page. Thank you for mentioning it to me. I gladly appreciate it. Maintaining (talk) 21:59, 27 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited BlocBoy JB, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Digital download (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:17, 3 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You seem to edit mostly hip hop articles but can you adjust the credits off these albums, the credits can be found in Tidal. TheAmazingPeanuts (talk) 00:24, 6 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

All done. I'm more than willing to edit any article(s) that aren't hip hop. I tend to fix hip hop article(s) as that's the genre I listen to the most. I try to fix the credits of articles and add a personnel (if there isn't one already). If you have any more requests, just let me know. Maintaining (talk) 09:36, 6 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for the late reply, but can you add a personnel in articles Under Pressure, The Incredible True Story and Everybody. Thank you. TheAmazingPeanuts (talk) 00:05, 14 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at Lil Baby, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 09:10, 9 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The only unsourced content that I did not add a reference to, have their own page. There is no need to add unnecessary source to each guest appearance if it has its own page.

Quality Control: Control the Streets Volume 1 has been linked for "My Dawg (Remix)", "The Load", "Sides" and "Hook Up"

Drip Season 3 has been linked for "Oh Okay"

2 Heartless has been linked for "Fwm"

Lil Boat 2 has been linked for "Mickey"

Just Cause Y'all Waited has been linked for "How I Know"

Until Death Call My Name has been linked for "Traumatized" Maintaining (talk) 06:18, 14 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

At Just Cause Y'all Waited, "How I Know" is indeed listed...without a source. When you copy unsourced material from one article to another, you lessen the reliablility of Wikipedia, and undermine the hard work of editors who take the time to source their edits. Adding sources is a policy on Wikipedia, and I will continue to caution you. Thanks for your understanding. Magnolia677 (talk) 21:27, 18 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I understand removing the note for sampled songwriters (despite other articles doing the same...) yet where are you getting this order for song writers? I am getting the order of the songwriters from YouTube Music. The credits on there have matched up with the liner notes on album articles I've contributed to. Maintaining (talk) 03:38, 3 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Pop Smoke

[edit]

Hi Maintaining. I knew that Pop Smoke's manager had said that the song was removed due to a supposed glitch, I already read the source. However, I'd say otherwise, given that Pitchfork has quoted the word "glitch", and Pusha T's diss to Drake on a song that didn't appear due to a "glitch", says otherwise. Genius originally quoted "glitch" too. Plus, Pusha T "demanded" to be removed from the deluxe version of Pop Smoke's album. The song was supposedly supposed to appear on the original version and Pop Smoke's manager said that it was going to be "fixed ASAP" and that he was "fixing the glitch". It doesn't seem there was really an actual glitch. I'd rather just just leave the notes just saying that the song didn't appear on the album. Also, in the new HotNewHipHop article I've linked, Pusha says that "label heads" stopped the record from coming out, appearing to retract what Pop's manager said. Any thoughts? Thanks. RodeoWrld (talk) 04:14, 9 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I guess it's fine like that. I was just going off the article from HHNH, sorry about that. Maintaining (talk) 07:57, 9 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
