Request for Article Name Change

Hi.

I got your details through Wikipedia's list of active Asian editors, and since you are online, I am reaching out to you as a new Wikipedia member (and not user). I made an account to edit a particular page, but I realised that only auto confirmed users can change the title of the page, using the 'Move' tab. Since I do not have the privilege to do that, I was hoping you would.

My issue is with a particular page titled 'Gorakshanath' which should actually be named, 'Gorakhnath'. Understandably, this is a sinister political shenanigan that is an attempt to impose the right-wing ideology of go-raksha (cow protection) down our throats. Please change the name at the earliest, if you can. It is a serious issue. This is how it starts!

Thanks. Prateek Prateekpaul7 (talk) 13:32, 21 May 2017 (UTC)

Dear Prateekpaul7 kindly raise the issue on talk page of the said article for honouring the views of other eminent editors and if the matter reaches to a consensus then I or any one will certainly accomplish the said move. This is the procedure that is followed for move.--MahenSingha (Talk) 06:52, 24 May 2017 (UTC)

Though it does not appear constructive the aim behind adding "Tyagi" to chowdhury page was because it was a substantiated claim complete with citations and quote Ambertyagi26 (talk) 17:51, 16 June 2017 (UTC)
Please refer WP:RS and do not add/edit any thing for which you are not mentioning the reliable sources. Blogs, social sites and casted promo sites etc. are not reliable sources. Being specifically declined to any particular view/cast/group of people is an ill practice , Please refer WP:NPOV, WP:COI. Adopt impartial and healthy editing habits to go a long way. Anyway find the sources for what you want to edit and cite the same inline. Never engage in an edit war instead discuss with co editors. Thanks. Happy editing.--MahenSingha (Talk) 20:01, 16 June 2017 (UTC)

WikiCup 2017 July newsletter

The third round of the competition has finished in a flurry of last minute activity, with 288 points being required to qualify for round 4. It was a hotly competitive round with all but four of the contestants exceeding the 106 points that was necessary to proceed to round 4 last year. Coemgenus and Freikorp tied on 288, and both have been allowed to proceed, so round 4 now has one pool of eight competitors and one of nine.

Round 3 saw the achievement of a 26-topic Featured topic by MPJ-DK as well as 5 featured lists and 13 featured articles. PanagiotisZois and SounderBruce achieved their first ever featured articles. Carbrera led the GA score with 10, Tachs achieved 17 DYKs and MBlaze Lightning 10 In the news items. There were 167 DYKs, 93 GARs and 82 GAs overall, this last figure being higher than the number of GAs in round 2, when twice as many people were taking part. Even though contestants performed more GARs than they achieved GAs, there was still some frustration at the length of time taken to get articles reviewed.

As we start round 4, we say goodbye to the fifteen or so competitors who didn't quite make it; thank you for the useful contributions you have made to the Cup and Wikipedia. Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 3 but before the start of round 4 can be claimed in round 4. Remember too that you must claim your points within 10 days of "earning" them (some people have fallen foul of this rule and the points have been removed).

If you are concerned that your nomination, whether it be for a good article, a featured process, or anything else, will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. It would be helpful if this list could be cleared of any items no longer relevant. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. disruptive editing

For the last one month you have indulged pretty heavily in re-editing every page that I have edited with proper sources ,in your single minded agenda of disruptive editing you even failed to go through the proper citations that i had put up on the page and the grammatical edit that i had made was classified by you as a "disruptive" edit.My humble advice to you is to go through a good english grammar book and learn the finer nuances of the language and while you are at it learn the difference between factual edit and grammatical. In case you have an issue do look up the citations and the page numbers cited as they are in essence what the pages dictateAmbertyagi26 (talk) 07:15, 9 July 2017 (UTC)

Hi, when I was reviewing my watchlist today, I saw this edit from an anonymous user. I reverted that edit (see here) but I thought it may be better to use "present-day India and present-day Nepal" (as per WP:NPOV) as the territory of ancient Shakya is now divided between India and Nepal. I thought this would end the content dispute and the anonymous user will not edit war. But you reverted my constructive edit calling it "persistent vandalism" (see here). Could you please explain how my edits were "persistent vandalism" in your view? You are a far more experienced wikipedian than me and I respect your contributions to Wikipedia. But, I respect you even more for guarding the borders of our great country, India (as your profile says you are a serviceman). Please try to assume WP:good faith. Thanks and Jai Hind. - Ind akash (talk) 12:51, 30 July 2017 (UTC)

No. It was not only your edit. Actually over a period of time the article seems to be facing attack of disruptive edits and the article was restored to the last best version. I will watch if others permit what you did now. Thanks. Happy editing.--MahenSingha (Talk) 18:00, 30 July 2017 (UTC)

Mahensingha, did you mean to open a full GA review of Krishna yesterday? The edit summary when you created this page was just "Suggestion", but there was no suggestion on the review page, just the usual top-section boilerplate, and no follow-up.

Opening a review means that you intend to do a complete GA review based on the GA criteria, which involves quite a lot of work. As far as I can tell, this is your first GA review, and Krishna is a very long article, with 225 source citations. (Among other things, a review needs to check to make sure the material being cited is accurate according to the cited source(s).)

If you do intend to do the review, best of luck going forward. If, however, you opened the review by mistake, or only intended to make a comment or suggestion, then the review page should be closed and deleted, so that when a reviewer does come along, they can start a page from scratch. Any comments or suggestions you had been intending to make can be made instead on the Talk:Krishna page.

Please let me know how you plan to proceed, or what you'd like me to do—I can request the review page deletion if you'd like. Many thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you; I'll see it if you reply here. BlueMoonset (talk) 21:44, 15 August 2017 (UTC)

Article Rajput

Hi Mahensingha

I'd like to know which edit you disagreed with, besides the reference to the oral tradition for which of course I have a first hand source but no reason to contest the removal of, and possibly the reference to Jats and Gurjars considering themselves related. At the end of it the whole section contains theory so I added fact, and it was all sourced, including the link to the wiki page for Jat people.

Any thing which you need to add to the existing article, it must be supported by the reliable sources (please refer WP:RS). Also the text shall remain in neutral tone and well balanced WP:NPOV. You being new to the article Rajput must be aware of the various discussions and consensus, all happened in the past. It is certainly a controversial article, please refer it's talk page.--MahenSingha (Talk) 06:00, 28 August 2017 (UTC)

WikiCup 2017 September newsletter

Round 4 of the WikiCup has ended and we move forward into the final round. In round 4, a total of 12 FAs, 3 FLs, 44 GAs, 3 FLs, 79 DYKs, 1 ITN and 42 GARs was achieved, with no FPs or FTs this time. Congratulations to Peacemaker67 on the Royal Yugoslav Navy Good Topic of 36 items, and the 12 featured articles achieved by Cas Liber (5), Vanamonde93 (3), Peacemaker67 (2), Adityavagarwal (1) and 12george1 (1). With a FA scoring 200 points, and bonus points available on top of this, FAs are likely to feature heavily in the final round. Meanwhile Yellow Evan, a typhoon specialist, was contributing 12 DYKs and 10 GAs, while Adityavagarwal and Freikorp topped the GAR list with 8 reviews each. As we enter the final round, we are down to eight contestants, and we would like to thank those of you who have been eliminated for the useful contributions you have made to the Cup and Wikipedia. The lowest score needed to reach round 5 was 305, and I think we can expect a highly competitive final round.

Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 4 but before the start of round 5 can be claimed in round 5. Remember too that you must claim your points within 10 days of "earning" them. If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. It would be helpful if this list could be cleared of any items no longer relevant. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to reduce the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck, and let the best man (or woman) win! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send.
