Re:Books
[edit]The speedy delete tag was placed on the page because the page was previously deleted. But to answer your question, not every book ever published deserves its own Wikipedia article. The Men are from Mars... book you cited is quite well known and well-cited, whereas I've never heard of of Magic of Woman. There is no detailed criteria on this subject at this point, but you can look at this specific bit as well as the general Wikipedia notability criteria if you're interested in learning more. Hope that helps. Fabricationary 07:50, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for your message on my talk page. I've read what you wrote and looked at your website, and coming from an individual who professes neither expertise nor an avid interest in the subject, your work seems interesting. However, in its current state, it remains original research; it does not appear to have caught on with the general public as a Google search I just performed turned up 40 Ghits, some not relevant to your book. Wikipedia is neither a publisher of original research nor an advertisting service; while I believe you that your previous actions were made with good intentions, please do not re-create a page about your book or insert links into other articles about it now that you have been informed of this.
- It is true that the work of other individuals in this field also started with original research, but the reason that they have Wikipedia articles is that their research caught on with other experts in the field and drew popular support. A parallel is easily made to scientific research, where the hypothesis and observations of a single scientist or lab group is often initially received with criticism until the evidence given is proven over and over again and accepted by other members of the community.
- I wish you luck with your book - perhaps someday it will gain enough notability to be listed on Wikipedia. However, if and when that day arrives, be wary about creating it yourself or having a collaborator create it - see WP:VANITY and WP:AUTO for why this isn't a good idea. In general, it often takes the point of view of someone unattached to the topic matter to discern the topic's notability and write an objective article about a person, a music artist, a book, etc. In my opinion, it would be a terrific compliment for someone who doesn't know you but who has read and agreed with your book and the ideas presented in it to come to Wikipedia, wonder why there already isn't such an article, and create it himself or herself. Spam and Sockpuppet
[edit]This is your only warning. The next time you insert a spam link, as you did in Magic Woman M, Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus, and your user page you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia.
Also know that it is suspected by the edits here and here that the User:Chetspune is a sockpuppet of yours. Please also know that the use of sockpupptes is strictly prohibited by Wikipedia Policy. Thank you for your time. --omtay38 07:53, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
I agree with Omtay, please don't do that again. This is nothing to do about the Magic of Woman. Magic Woman M is a hentai anime series, not some kind of magic-power-crap, so stop doing such a crap. Thank you. --Girla PurpleHeart 02:03, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
