Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Magicmantv. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Longhair\talk 18:11, 13 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Updating magic[edit]

Hi, I totally understand everything read. However as I am a magician in England, it's a small community and I know pretty much every magician. That's why I know a lot of history of all the magicians here in England. I just want it all to be added to Wikipedia so save the history of magicians. I also plan to update Ben Hanlin, Dyanmks and Troys however I know them but there is so much missing fonline about them. I do however feel I write up in a neutral perspective and give inside into some of England's top magicians. Please let me know how I can improve and get these magicians published. All the best, Tom Magicmantv (talk) 18:32, 28 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The answer to your question is not to simply write what you know (see WP:OR), but to write what independent, reliable sources say (see WP:V and WP:RS). Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 12:49, 18 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
