I'm here!
[edit]@Magiciandude: Hi, I just finished working on the singles section of Ricky Martin (1999 album), I will start looking for sources now and we can discuss here. آرمین هویدایی (talk) 19:19, 20 September 2021 (UTC)
- آرمین هویدایی, Cool cool. I myself just finished searching the song's genre since labeling the song's genre as "ballad" isn't allowed apparently . Wasn't as easy you'd think since they all just ballad. I also kind of "cheated" by copy and pasting from the album article's page. Erick (talk) 19:23, 20 September 2021 (UTC)
- Commercial performance:
The song entered Chile chart in 2007: source
It is one of Martin's greatest hits: source
- Music Video:
"the video was filmed in the iconic Ennis House designed by Frank Lloyd Wright." source
The best reference that I could find for the director was this: [1]
And here we have a bit about the concept: "The video begins with a scene of the singer in the rain. He then appears interpreting the theme from different points of a house." source
Cristal Mesa from mitú named the visual Martin's 24th best music video on her 2018 list,[2] and an author of Cultura Colectiva listed it among the "13 Videos to Appreciate Ricky Martin's Talent and Sickening Good Looks".[3]
- Critical reception:
Billboard: "Ricky Martin made everyone shed a tear with his song Vuelve" source
LA Times: "And the album's first single, "Vuelve," with its delicate electric piano and anthemic chorus, confirms that this record will most likely survive the test of time." [4] (also useful for Music and Lyrics)
Amanda Mitchell ranked the track as Martin's 13th best song on her 2019 list.[5]
"If you’re looking for his best heartbreak anthem, this is it. I mean, it’s a bit intense and a little needy, but it’s definitely one of those songs that will make you want to grab a spoon and an entire cup of ice cream to listen while you cry. Even if your heart is in a good place, this song is great to sing your lungs out."[3]
"The hook is instant and unforgettable, the lyrics warmly romantic": source
ranked among Martin's 5 unmissable hits, described as "creative": [6]
a part of its lyrics is listed among the "10 love phrases from Ricky Martin songs", we can also use this to write a bit of its lyrics in Music and Lyrics section: "Vuelve, que sin ti la vida se me va. Vuelve, que me falta el aire si tú no estás. Vuelve, nadie ocupará tu lugar" source
In 2020, MTV Argentina ranked it as one of Martin's best songs.[7]
@Magiciandude: Could you please take a look at these? And I wanted to suggest separating some sections, since we may find enough data for them. (We can expand the composition part with adding a bit of lyrics, mentioning the producers' names, the instruments used, adding an audio file, etc.) And I guess we can have specific sections for "commercial performance" and "critical reception and accolades". آرمین هویدایی (talk) 20:50, 20 September 2021 (UTC)
- آرمین هویدایی, Sounds good to me! And the sources are very helpful! It seems that the entry for the Chilean chart is for the Unplugged version. I'll leave the section splits up to you while I add the other information from the sources you provided. As for the director, I believe either the DVD version of La Historia or "The Ricky Martin Video Collection" mentions the directors, so we can cite either the booklet or the media itself. Erick (talk) 21:09, 20 September 2021 (UTC)
- @Magiciandude: Great, thanks. Unfortunately, I have to go to sleep right now. (Here is almost 2 am in my country) But I will try to find more sources and add content to the article tomorrow morning. آرمین هویدایی (talk) 21:18, 20 September 2021 (UTC)
- آرمین هویدایی, Alright, I've done as much as I can with this article. I'll leave the rest up to you with your suggestions. Feel free to copy-edit any of the sections I worked on as well. Cheers! Erick (talk) 05:04, 21 September 2021 (UTC)
- @Magiciandude: Great job. I will add more content now. آرمین هویدایی (talk) 07:13, 21 September 2021 (UTC)

Genre
[edit]"Latin pop was largely a crooner’s game. It relied on romantic ballads, heart-wrenching lyrics and heavy, string-laden arrangements. That made for big hits in the Latin realm (and thank God for songs like “Si No Te Hubieras Ido,” “Vuelve” or “El Buen Perdedor" -- how could we have survived heartache otherwise?)." Billboard
@Magiciandude: What do you think about using this as a reference for "Vuelve"'s genre as "Latin Pop"? I will also use this for critical reception. (following Leila Cobo's early opinion) آرمین هویدایی (talk) 08:11, 21 September 2021 (UTC)
- آرمین هویدایی, I was basically going to do what you did and combine "Latin pop" with slow rock harmonies. I think this article is in a really fantastic shape and I really have to thank you for it! The only other new info I have added is on De Vita's live performance and why he recorded it. Other than that, I think the article is good to go if there's nothing else that needs to be done. If there is, go right ahead and I'll co-nominate the article with you after you're finished with whatever needs to be done. Erick (talk) 14:20, 21 September 2021 (UTC)
- @Magiciandude: Thank you so much, you did great. I'm so glad that I could help and it was an honor for me. I guess we should also add "Credits and personnel" section and I will add it now. Also, I think we have missed Puerto Rico chart. I'll add it too. Besides, I saw a track list for Mexican 7 inch single here. I think that's all of it. Thank you again. آرمین هویدایی (talk) 16:01, 21 September 2021 (UTC)
- آرمین هویدایی, I wasn't only sure about adding the Puerto Rico charts since the Billboard Latin charts already covers radio stations from the island. But if no reviewer objects, then I don't see a problem with it. Erick (talk) 16:03, 21 September 2021 (UTC)

- @Magiciandude: Oh, I got it. I haven't seen any reviewer objects about it until now. But I guess since Puerto Rico is a separate country we can add this, like what we usually do with newer articles and PR's Monitor Latino chart. آرمین هویدایی (talk) 16:10, 21 September 2021 (UTC)
- @Magiciandude: I'm done. آرمین هویدایی (talk) 16:51, 21 September 2021 (UTC)
- آرمین هویدایی, Alright off to GA nomination it goes! Erick (talk) 16:55, 21 September 2021 (UTC)
- @Magiciandude: I'm done. آرمین هویدایی (talk) 16:51, 21 September 2021 (UTC)
Alright with "Vuelve" out the way, I've already set up "Perdido Sin Ti". I'll be busy over the next few days as I'll be working so I won't have as much time, plus I do want a little break after all that work for "Vuelve". I don't think there's as much as critical commentary for "Perdido Sin Ti" as there was "Vuelve", so there's no guarantee this might satisfy GA. And don't worry, if you need a break as well that's fine. I'll just start with the basic cleanups with the charts and whatnot. Erick (talk) 20:54, 21 September 2021 (UTC)
- @Magiciandude: Cool, I go back to work on Ricky Martin for these days, whenever you wanted to start "Perdido Sin Ti", I'd be glad to help. آرمین هویدایی (talk) 08:31, 22 September 2021 (UTC)
Perdido Sin Ti
[edit]- @Magiciandude: Hi, I found this fact and I guess it's useful. It was the first time in the Latin Pop Airplay chart's history that an artist has succeeded himself at the top.[8]
- @آرمین هویدایی: Thanks, I had completely forgotten about that. This song didn't receive as much coverage as "Vuelve", so I don't really have much to go on. Feel free to add or change anything, and if there's nothing else, I'll go ahead and nominate it for GA. Erick (talk) 05:50, 26 September 2021 (UTC)
- Sure, thank you. آرمین هویدایی (talk) 06:57, 26 September 2021 (UTC)
- @Magiciandude: I'm done. I did my best but couldn't find any references for the song's genre. What should we do about that? ☹ And, I had a question, can I add a music video screenshot to the article? Since there is nothing about its synopsis in the article, I think we can add a photo and write a caption using the photo itself as the source to have a bit of its synopsis in the article. آرمین هویدایی (talk) 14:02, 26 September 2021 (UTC)
- @آرمین هویدایی: I feel ya there, buddy. I had this problem with ¡Basta Ya! (song) earlier this year and it still passed GA, so I guess we'll still with it. And yeah, I say go ahead with the music video. I know it didn't reach #1 on the US Latin charts, but wanna do "La Bomba" next? I really love that song and I think that song should be easier as there's more coverage of that song than there was on "Perdido Sin Ti"? It won't be on this sandbox though since I'm reserving this sandbox for Latin pop songs that did really on the US Latin charts or received a Latin Grammy nomination. Erick (talk) 14:46, 26 September 2021 (UTC)
- @Magiciandude: Yes, of course. Although it did not do well on Billboard charts, but it is a bigger international hit and we can find more info about it. If you want, we can work on it in my sandbox. Whenever you want, I'm ready for that. Thank you for your hard working. آرمین هویدایی (talk) 19:57, 26 September 2021 (UTC)

Amiga Mia
[edit]@Franlm14:, I see on your user page that you are also a fan of Alejandro Sanz. In addition to working with LuisMi, I'm doing this song as well, if you're interested. Almost done with it thought. This is part of my personal project where I work on songs that reached #1 on the Latin Pop Airplay and Tropical Airplay charts, if I can find enough information for each song that is. Erick (talk) 23:32, 12 May 2022 (UTC)
- Nice job! @Magiciandude I recently added the certs for "Más". That album deserve work on it. I was trying also recopilate the Más tour dates, but I couldn't find all, it's a lot of work. Franlm14 (talk) 05:39, 14 May 2022 (UTC)
Looking for collaborators with few Shakira's songs from "Donde Estan los Ladrones"
[edit]I'm working on a personal project where I get songs that reached #1 on the Latin pop and Tropical Airplay charts GA in chronological order, as well as songs from either genre that won a Latin Grammy (provided there are enough sources of course). My next few Latin pop songs will are focused on the tail-end of 1998 and the beginning of 1999. These include Shakira's songs Ciega, Sordomuda, Tú (Shakira song), Ojos Así. The first two songs reached #1 on the Latin pop songs chart while "Ojos asi" won Best Female Pop Performance. And as an added bonus, I'd like to include "Inevitable" as well as since I really like that song. I already have "Ciega, Sordomuda" on my sandbox to start with. Pinging @Tbhotch:, @11JORN:, @WikiRedactor:. @آرمین هویدایی: I notice you mention liking Shakira as well, but didn't see "Ciega, Sordomuda" mentioned on your liked songs so I don't know if you'd be interested. @AlexanderShakifan29:, you're welcome to observe as well to see how to properly write an article on Wikipedia and to contribute. Erick (talk) 21:57, 1 June 2022 (UTC)
- At the moment I have other projects so I can't assist you with this. BTW, "Ciega sordomuda" translates to "Blind, deaf-mute". I guess the cited source (I can't access it) takes into consideration the first part of the verse instead ("Bruta, ciega, sord[a]"). (CC) Tbhotch™ 18:31, 3 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Tbhotch Understood. BTW, us Wikipedians get access to ProQuest at WP:LIBRARY for free. I really hope I can work with you one of these days! 🙏 Erick (talk) 23:42, 3 June 2022 (UTC)

- Erick Hi, sorry for my late response. I have been busy these days. No unfortunately, I'm still working on Ricky Martin articles in my free time and I can't be helpful. آرمین هویدایی (talk) 08:28, 5 June 2022 (UTC)
Hasta Que Me Olvides
[edit]@Franlm14: I'm sorry if I'm "jumping around a lot". I just really want to finish up the 90s Latin pop songs before the end of the year. My next article Luis Miguel before working on Navidades is "Hasta Que Me Olvides", one of his best songs. I just need help in how the song came to be by JLG. I removed El Siglo del Torreon charts because they are from the capitals of Latin America cities, not countries. But they can still be mentioned in the article's prose, just not on the chart table. Erick (talk) 05:18, 21 November 2022 (UTC)
Entre el Mar y una Estrella
[edit]@FanDePopLatino: I'm working on songs that reached #1 on the Latin pop and Tropical Airplay charts in chronological. I have finished up the 1990s and now prepping for the 2000s. My next song on the list is Thalia's Entre el mar y una estrella. Since you are a Thalia fan, I was wondering if you'd like to work on this with me. Erick (talk) 20:21, 25 April 2023 (UTC)
- @Magiciandude: sure Erick. So are we just adding to the article to get it extended and possibly into a WP:GOODARTICLE status? FanDePopLatino (talk) 20:56, 25 April 2023 (UTC)
- Yep, that's the plan! 👍 Erick (talk) 21:06, 25 April 2023 (UTC)
I have to stop for today as I have go to work. My workdays are Tuesdays to Saturdays so I'm not as active on those days. But so far, I'd say the article is in pretty good shape. Keep up the great work! Erick (talk) 17:57, 27 April 2023 (UTC)
- @FanDePopLatino: Do you have a physical copy of the album? Erick (talk) 23:03, 27 April 2023 (UTC)
- @Magiciandude: for sure Erick. I understand man. I myself work every day for a total of 75 hours a week now so I haven't been to active on wikipedia lately but I will keep adding to it as much as I can. I do have a physical copy of the album. FanDePopLatino (talk) 01:07, 28 April 2023 (UTC)
- @FanDePopLatino: Glad you understand! I'm also glad you have the physical copy because I need help in the personnel. Is there a list of credits for just the song in the booklet? I already set up a personnel section that just needs to be filled out. See Ojos Así on what I mean. Erick (talk) 12:51, 28 April 2023 (UTC)
- @Magiciandude: All done Erick! FanDePopLatino (talk) 17:10, 28 April 2023 (UTC)
- @FanDePopLatino Nice! Next question, does it state which recording studio the song was recorded? Allmusic lists three different studio albums, but I don't know if the song itself was recorded in all of them or only one of them. Erick (talk) 17:27, 28 April 2023 (UTC)
- @Magiciandude: It shows it was recorded and mixed in Crescent Moon Studios in Miami, FL. FanDePopLatino (talk) 20:53, 29 April 2023 (UTC)
- @FanDePopLatino And...done! I went ahead and moved it to the main article and co-nonimated the article with you. Please feel free to add any more information on the article mainspace itself. I hope I've encouraged you to write some good articles whenever you have the chance! If there are songs you want to work on, please free feel to do so. For now, my next Thalia song won't be until I get to 2002 with "Tu y Yo" and "No Me Enseñaste". Erick (talk) 14:48, 30 April 2023 (UTC)
