The images you removed from the article are in the public domain due to their age. Please see WP:PD for more information. --| Uncle Milty | talk | 20:33, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I should correct and clarify that comment. The image on the postcard (and we know it is a postcard because the book it was published in says so) is public domain because the card itself was published prior to 1923. The other image's source is not as clear, so I have commented-out that image until the copyright status of the image can be determined. --| Uncle Milty | talk | 21:41, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've removed it from Doyers Street (Manhattan), where it also resided, and nominated it for deletion. It can always be reinstated when its copyright status is cleared up. MagicianMerlin, while your contributions are appreciated, your comments on my talk page lead me to suggest that you become aware of WP:LEGAL, concerning legal threats. ScottyBerg (talk) 21:55, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You do need to read WP:LEGAL. It does not suggest you cannot pursue legal action (though you should consider other options), however it means that you will be prohibted from editing while the threats are outstanding to avoid further clouding of any issues. Actually, I am not personally pursuing legal action or making legal threats of any kind. I am only relaying what the authors may do. In the meantime, I think this is a much needed debate because the WP files don't really expound enough where rules and regs are concerned.Cheers, MagicianMerlin (talk)
As suggested at AN/I, where I've raised the issue of the legal threats: The images reside at Commons, not Wikipedia, so your best bet is to contact Commons via Commons:Commons:Contact us. ScottyBerg (talk) 23:05, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 21:13, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
