A tag has been placed on Draft:Qualia: The School for Deeper Learning, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. A handwritten welcome

[edit]

Hi Maggie, and welcome to Wikipedia. I apologize for the automated messages, which I know are not very welcoming. Wikipedia can be tricky for new users, which is one reason it’s typically best to start contributing to Wikipedia in smaller ways before submitting a completely new article. While it’s not expected for users to know every single Wikipedia policy and guideline, there are a few important ones to keep in mind:

  • Copyright violations: Wikipedia cannot accept copied and pasted materials from copyrighted sources, largely for legal reasons. Wikipedia articles need to be written in your own words. This is the main reason I nominated your draft for speedy deletion, since Qualia owns the copyright for the text.
  • Notability (organizations and companies): This was the reason your draft submission was initially declined. Wikipedia isn’t a directory of every organization, but rather an encyclopedia of notable topics. A company should typically only have a Wikipedia article if it has been the subject of significant coverage in multiple reliable secondary sources that are independent of the subject.
  • Conflict of Interest: Writing about your employer is strongly discouraged, particularly creating a new article. Instead, if (and only if) the school meets notability standards, the best way to have an article created would be to submit it to Wikipedia:Articles for creation.
  • What Wikipedia is not: Wikipedia is not a soapbox or means of promotion. From the policy: Information about companies and products must be written in an objective and unbiased style, free of puffery. All article topics must be verifiable with independent, third-party sources, so articles about very small garage bands or local companies are typically unacceptable. Wikipedia articles about a person, company or organization are not an extension of their website, press releases, or other social media marketing efforts.

I hope you’ll consider contributing to Wikipedia in topics where you do not have a conflict of interest. If you would like to learn more about contributing, I find Help:Introduction to be a great guide for new contributors. Best, Politanvm talk 21:20, 17 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Maggie, thanks for removing the copied text, and for declaring your COI. I would still discourage you from creating an article for Qualia, for the the latter 3 policies and guidelines noted above. It is very difficult to write objectively about your employer, and it is very unlikely that a new page reviewer will approve an article written by a marketer for the school. It also doesn’t look like Qualia will meet Notability guidelines, since there doesn’t seem to have coverage in any independent, reliable, secondary sources that I can find. I’m hoping to help you avoid wasted time, effort, and frustration. Politanvm talk 21:34, 17 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
