Welcome! (We can't say that loudly enough!)

Hello, Maggiecollinssussex, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages you might find helpful:

If you have any questions or problems, no matter what they are, leave me a message on my talk page. Or, please come to the new contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{Help me}} on your user talk page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.

Please sign your name on talk pages and votes by typing four tildes (~~~~); our software automatically converts it to your username and the date. We're so glad you're here! Meatsgains(talk) 23:01, 2 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Do not believe everything you read

As anyone can edit almost any article, it is of course possible for biased, out of date, or incorrect information to be posted to Wikipedia, especially on April Fools' Day. However, because there are so many other people reading the articles and monitoring contributions using the Recent Changes page, incorrect information is usually corrected quickly. Thus, the overall accuracy of the encyclopedia is improving all the time as it attracts more and more contributors. You are encouraged to help by correcting articles, validating content, and providing useful references.

Question

[edit]

Dear Maggie, I know it might seem rather random to ask, but do you have real-life close relations to Maria Caulfield by any chance? Maybe as a campaigner in the local Conservative association, or you are employed by her? We have conflict of interest rules on Wikipedia that restrict editors with such circumstances from editing articles directly (exceptions apply). Thanks, talk to !dave 19:53, 6 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

No I live locally and am retired and have an interest in politics. I am not even a Conservative voter

Maria Caulfield Comment

[edit]

Hi. I've partially reverted your latest edit to the above article as you've removed sourced, relevant information without providing an explanation; here and here. If you believe the information shouldn't be included you really need to take your rationale to the Talk Page of the article and build consensus, rather than just removing it. I've added a link to her apology for you. Thanks. --DSQ (talk) 08:10, 20 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I was just editing this and not removing it but you blocked me before I had even finished Maggiecollinssussex (talk) 22:35, 9 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Maria Caulfield

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Maggiecollinssussex. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Maria Caulfield, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Finally, please stop removing sourced material & adding unsourced material to this article - thank you --DSQ (talk) 20:53, 9 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Why have you blocked me . I was in the process of updating information and before I have even had a chance to finish this you have blocked me. Please explain

I was in the process of editing before the even finishing and you have blocked me with no reason . Please explain Maggiecollinssussex (talk) 22:45, 9 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You were removing sourced content in what seems like an effort to whitewash the article. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 22:53, 9 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I didn’t remove . I was in the process of editing and was about to replace. I am not experienced and it takes me some time to do this . Request that I am reinstated as from my history you will see I do limited edits on a number of pages Maggiecollinssussex (talk) 23:01, 9 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Surely being inexperienced is not a reason for blocking ? I was cut and pasting as the only way I know how to edit Maggiecollinssussex (talk) 23:02, 9 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Very sad that being old and not very IT literate is a reason for being blocked . I recently donated to this website but won’t be doing again . Maggiecollinssussex (talk) 23:05, 9 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Very sad that being old and not very IT literate is a reason for being blocked. I was editing and before I got to repaste was bloked. I am partially sighted so it takes me a while to cut and paste and my spelling is not good either , just blocking me because I am slow seems very unfair. I only ever edit local pages but even this site doesn’t want me . Life is very unfair T the moment . Don’t ever get old Maggiecollinssussex (talk) 23:30, 9 January 2021 (UTC)

Decline reason:

This does not address the perceived WP:COI violations here. Nor was this block for a single edit, but rather for a history of inapparopriate edits stretching back more than 1.5 years. Yamla (talk) 12:19, 10 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It’s is a shame that if you had concerns about my contributions that you didn’t let me know so I could learn from them . Please

Request reason:

I don’t want to be unblocked I want to leave but some feedback for you. My grandson has just shown me the talk part of this. I had not seen previous messages . If you want real people to take part in this it needs to be easier for people who are not experienced to use your page. I don’t contribute much because I am not very knowledgeable about many things but I contributed to three pages in my local area. It is not very easy to do and when I tried to add things like sources or new sections they never seem to appear. I want to leave as I am not very good at this and it has left me upset . I wanted to improve my contributions during lockdown but this site is not for people like me. For others perhaps more easy guides would help. You say it is a guide anyone can edit but that’s not true. My grandson has explained it to me now but I want to leave as it has upset me so much. I wish you well but please try and support people who have knowledge to contribute but not the skills to do so~
