Wikipedia is an encyclopedia

[edit]

I have deleted User:MafazOfficial and Mohamed Mafaz. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a place to post resumes or to promote yourself. Do not repost the deleted content or your editing privileges will be revoked. MER-C 12:01, 14 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

November 2016

[edit]

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you use Wikipedia for soapboxing, promotion or advertising. 2601:188:1:AEA0:65F5:930C:B0B2:CD63 (talk) 13:15, 14 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing, because it is clear that you are not here to contribute to building the encyclopedia. It has been made perfectly clear to you that Wikipedia is not the place to post resumés or self-promotional personal web pages, but you have continued to do that, and nothing else. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Sockpuppet investigation

[edit]

Hi. An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Mafaz729, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.

Emailed unblock request

[edit]

I have received your email, in which you asked to be unblocked, and said that when you edited before you were young and childish, and that you will not do the same again.

People can change over the course of a couple of years, particularly if they are young, as you say you are, and I am perfectly willing to give you another chance. If the only concern were your editing in the past with this account, I would go ahead and unblock you now. However, there have been other accounts too, blocked by other administrators, and before I unblock you we need to deal with that fact. I am willing to unblock you if you will do the following three things.

  1. Give a list of the accounts you have used. I know of several, but I want to be sure that there are no others that I don't know of.
  2. Give a clear undertaking not to write about yourself, and not to try to use Wikipedia for any kind of promotion.
  3. Agree to use only this one account.

I hope you will understand that I really do want to let you edit again. I am imposing the conditions I have listed above not in order to make it harder for you to be unblocked, but in the hope of making sure that there are no outstanding problems which lead to your being blocked again.

When you answer this message, please ping me to make sure that I know you have answered, so that I can come here and respond. You may already know how to "ping" another editor, but in case you don't, here is how to do it. In your message, include {{ping|JamesBWatson}}. That will show up as @JamesBWatson, but in blue, but provided you also sign your post with ~~~~ I will automatically be notified that there is a message here for me. (Note: The{{ping|JamesBWatson}} and the ~~~~ have to both be in the same edit. It will not work if, for example, you do the "ping" but forget the ~~~~ and come back and do that in a separate edit.)

Just one more thing. At present I am doing much less editing than I used to do, and sometimes going for quite a while without editing at all, so it may be some time before I respond to any message you post. I'm afraid you will have to be patient, but if I don't answer within a week, please ping me again. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 19:58, 28 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion of your unblock request at the administrators' noticeboard

[edit]

Having looked into the matter further, I have discovered that it is more complicated than I realised when I wrote my message above. As a result of a change in policy a couple of months ago you are considered to be banned from Wikipedia, rather than just blocked, and I can't lift your ban on my own without consultation. (Also, even if that change in policy had not happened, now that I am aware of the extent of your use of multiple accounts I would consult other administrators before taking any action.) I have opened a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard#Request for unbanning MafazOfficial. Since you are blocked you will not be able to post comments there, but if you have anything to say in your defence you can post it on this page and ask for it to be copied over to that discussion. One of the things I asked you to do was "Give a clear undertaking not to write about yourself, and not to try to use Wikipedia for any kind of promotion". Not only have you not done so, but the comment you posted in relation to that rather seems to suggest that you do intend to continue to write about yourself. You are very unlikely to be unblocked unless you do give such a clear undertaking. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 14:01, 29 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
