Welcome and thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test on the page Aaliyah worked, and it has been reverted or removed. If you would like to experiment further, please use the sandbox instead. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Test edits

[edit]

Hello. I've been looking through your edits and it seems you are introducing errors into articles as some sort of class demonstration. I appreciate you teaching your class about Wikipedia, but please remember that the articles are "live". A typical featured article such as Aaliyah may get 20,000 views in a day, so many people will see the article in its incorrect state before you fix it. If you're just trying to show the class that Wikipedia is sometimes unreliable, you can accomplish the same goal by finding errors that already exist. If you're trying to show the class how to edit Wikipedia, please use the sandbox. Thanks. Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 10:00, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I saw your reply at Suffusion of Yellow's talk page and I just wanted to comment on that. Wikipedia is a community-based encyclopedia and relies on members of the community to make sure that information is reliable and factual. Yes, there are factual mistakes on Wikipedia. Wikipedia itself acknowledges that it is often unreliable. In the future, why not just give them this link: http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Academic_use? It says pretty much everything you've been trying to prove and more. Or you could just show them one specific contribution from your contributions (located at Special:Contributions/Madmkh) instead of repeatedly making this kind of edit.
It's important to remember that you are a member of the Wikipedia community. You can make edits that hurt the reliability of the encyclopedia, or you can join thousands of other contributors and work to make Wikipedia a great "jumping off" point for research (and something fun to read in one's freetime!). — Preceding signed comment added by Cymru.lass (talkcontribs) 23:37, 8 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
