Jalpaiguri

[edit]

Madhurima Nancy, I strongly suggest that you voluntarily undo your revert of an edit by an Administrator.

You have :

  • removed valid maintenance templates,
  • restored erroneous information, and
  • re-added un-sourced, unencyclopedic and rather promotional edits to the page.

You have a strange definition of 'genuine' if you think your revert was appropriate. Several editors with no conflict of interest or axe to grind reverted several times to try to preserve this page as something that should be in an encyclopaedia. --220 of Borg 11:19, 28 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Its interesting that until you did that, you only had 18 edits on WP, most of which were to Jalpaigur or related pages. Being new here may excuse you on this occasion, we all make mistakes and I assume good faith (AGF) on your part. I strongly suggest you get a better idea of how Wikipedia works before making a revert of this type against consensus. @Ground Zero: who you reverted, may well be around to have a chat with you.--220 of Borg 11:34, 28 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Reverts

[edit]

Now you have 'thanked' me for an edit on Jalpaiguri that you have already reverted! [1] Seems a little disingenuous, especially when you have reverted List of cities and towns in India by population [2] where I used that edit per source to correct an incorrect population figure! Introducing errors to WP is a big no-no!

You have now, without any valid explanation, reverted 2 edits (above and [3]) where I justifiably reverted User Moham Bose, I AGF, but please see wp:sockpuppet.--220 of Borg 11:50, 28 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Please discuss edits on Jalpaiguri

[edit]

Many of the edits you are making to Jalpaiguri violate Wikipedia policies or the style guide. Please do not make any more edits to this article until you have a consensus on the Talk:Jalpaiguri page. I have explained what the problems with you edits are there. You can explain your edits, and if other editors agree, they will be made to the article.

Continuing to try to force your edits in against the wishes of other editors is edit warring, and doing so will get you blocked from editing. You cannot get around this by creating new user profiles: they will be blocked as well, and I can increase the protection level on the article to prevent editing by new users. I would prefer not to do this, but it will be necessary if disruptive editing continues. Ground Zero | t 12:08, 28 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. At least one of your recent edits, such as the edit you made to Jalpaiguri, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted or removed. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at the welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make some test edits, please use the sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. 220 of Borg 11:58, 28 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at List of cities and towns in India by population. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been reverted or removed.

  • If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor then please discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page. Alternatively you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant notice boards.
  • If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, please seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive, until the dispute is resolved through consensus. Continuing to edit disruptively could result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you. 220 of Borg 12:09, 28 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at Institute of Pharmacy, Jalpaiguri, you may be blocked from editing. 220 of Borg 12:21, 28 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Chinsurah may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:

File permission problem with File:Commercial Complex, Jalpaiguri.jpeg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Commercial Complex, Jalpaiguri.jpeg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ronhjones  (Talk) 15:29, 10 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Kadamtala, jal at night.jpeg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
