Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia

The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome!

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Frequent Traveller, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.citizendia.org/Mad_(magazine).

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Frequent Traveller requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a musical recording which does not indicate why its subject is important or significant, and where the artist's article has never existed, has been deleted or is eligible for deletion itself. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for music.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Nima1024 (talk) 16:17, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Removing Speedy at Frequent Traveller

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from Frequent Traveller, a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. - SDPatrolBot (talk) 16:23, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with Frequent Traveller. Please use the {{hangon}} template on the page instead if you disagree with the deletion, and make your case on the page's talk page. Thank you. - SDPatrolBot (talk) 16:25, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi
I'm trying to submit this to wikipedia. Frequent Traveller is a new artist who I love. How do I get the entry on there?
Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and only reports on things that are already established. The criterion is called notability and is not a matter of opinion but must be demonstrated by showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." Significant means more than just listing-type mentions; reliable excludes Myspace, Facebook, blogs, places where anyone can post anything; independent excludes the subject's own website, affiliated ones and anything based on press releases. The test is, have other people, independent of the subject thought it important and significant enough to write substantial comment about?
Your article seemed not to be about an artist but about a recording which will not be released until June. There is no way that could be notable; two other principles are Wikipedia is not a crystal ball for articles about things that may happen in the future, and Wikipedia is not for promotion of any kind.
It may be that the artist Steve Spiro is notable enough for an article, in which case start with that. But first read carefully the definition of notability above, also WP:42 and WP:Notability (people) and WP:MUSICBIO, because unless you can establish notability the article will be not be kept. If you decide to go ahead, read WP:Your first article for general advice. JohnCD (talk) 19:52, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

As previously advised, your edits, such as the edit you made to Draft:Tally Money Banking App, give the impression you have a financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. You were asked to cease editing until you responded by either stating that you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits, or by complying with the mandatory requirements under the Wikimedia Terms of Use that you disclose your employer, client and affiliation. Again, you can post such a disclosure on your user page at User:Macklindamon, and the template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Macklindamon|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}.
