Good stuff - you always seem to follow interesting lines in your work. There will be masses of these sort of characters about I would guess. A random grab of the obits in one of my books (Rothmans annual for 1998-99) has uncovered two Irishmen (1) Patrick Costello (c1931-1997) (Victor Costello's father), who represented Ireland as a shot putter and was capped once at ru. Sadly no details of his athletic career! and (2) Noel Henderson (c1928-1997), 40 caps for Ireland, a Lion in 1950 and apparently a badminton international too - again no details supplied. Keep up the good work!--Bcp67 (talk) 19:05, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
- Victor Costello himself represented Ireland at the shot - 1992 Barcelona Olympics - there is a link from his article to a website from the Irish Throwers Club. A bit of googling suggests that his father was a national record holder but I haven't really delved into it--Bcp67 (talk) 19:10, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
