Hello Maartje, got your note, left you a reply over here — User_talk:74.192.84.101#Hello.2C_74. Thanks for helping Clover, and thanks for improving wikipedia.  :-)   You can ask me questions if you have any, or Drmies (who left you the welcome note) is very savvy. If we are not quick enough, best place to get fast answers is the friendly folks at WP:TEAHOUSE. Talk to you later. 74.192.84.101 (talk) 23:32, 23 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, great, the AfC submission exists. Go ahead and put your translated version of the text into the page, since Clover mentioned you had done that work. If you wish, you can also try and copy the structure (infobox/pictures/reflist/etc) over into AfC from the deWiki page, but that may not work 100% because they may use different template-names or support different imagefiles than enWiki. If you do try, and there are errors, no problem, just click save anyways and leave the error-messages in the page. It is only a rough draft now. Myself or Gerda or Yngvadottir can try and help fix any errors, once you click save. Thanks. 74.192.84.101 (talk) 13:20, 24 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The translation is in the page already and I copied the pictures. Could you look at it and tell me what I can change/improve/add? see the link [1] Thank you! --Maartje77 (talk) 03:16, 26 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, I can peek at it, but we need help from Gerda and/or Yngvadottir, since they speak both wiki-lang and also German.  :-)   One of them will have some time in the next week or so, probably, to verify the translation and the sources and such. In the meanwhile, I'll take a peek. Thanks for improving wikipedia. 74.192.84.101 (talk) 03:53, 26 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Happy new year. Now, where is that Gerda_Arendt? She said she might come help with WT:Articles_for_creation/Hako in the new year... and hey, the new year is here!  :-)   Is there any other wikipedia stuff you are interested in tackling, while we wait for Yngvadottir and friends? If you are in a rush, there is a German-translation-request-board somewhere, I think. But in the meantime, perhaps you have an interest in Swedish music schools, or somesuch? One of those just came up, already translated, but needs some clean-up of the wording to be more neutral. Let me or Clover know if you require anything, or are curious about anything. Thanks for improving wikipedia, talk to you later. 74.192.84.101 (talk) 02:49, 1 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
here's Gerda, travelling, don't expect too much, but I will watch, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:04, 1 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Happy new year! I don't know how to add more.. maybe I should learn first how everything works. My mother language is acctually Dutch, so German might not be the best option for me (to translate at least). I am very interested in wikitravel. I use it frequently and would love to contribute. Do you know how wikitravel works, because references are not necessary isn't it? How can I add information? --Maartje77 (talk) 00:55, 4 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I looked at HAKO now, a good start! Two things: try not to have pictures left and right on the same level, - if there are too many, have a gallery instead, as for example Kurhaus Wiesbaden. Try to get rid of "bare urls". More later, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 01:04, 4 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Maartje and Gerda ... it sounds to me like we are ready to submit, so that a reviewer can take a look at the contents, and move us into mainspace. The small fixes can be done as we go along. Maartje, please do the following steps:

1. click on the 'submit' button 2. when you see the weird page in the middle click the 'save' button

That will alert the AfC folks that we're ready for a reviewer to come along and give us some advice, or move us into mainspace. 74.192.84.101 (talk) 00:58, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

wikiVoyage versus wikiTravel

[edit]

WikiTravel is an outside corporation, founded back in 2003 or so. About a year ago, the original founders left that group, and decided to make wikivoyage. So they are different things! I'm assuming *you* are probably looking for the one run by wikipedians, which is called wikiVoyage. That only is going to be one years old in two days! Hurry and join, so you can get a piece of birthday cake!  :-)

  1. Here is the encyclopedia-article about the old thing: WikiTravel
  2. Here is the encyclopedia-article about the new thing: wikivoyage
  3. Here is the homepage of that new project: http://www.WikiVoyage.org
  4. They have English/German/Dutch/etc wikiVoyage-languages already in operation.
  5. The exact way the German-lang WikiVoyage works is apparently 'different' than the others, much like deWiki and enWiki differ.
  6. However, they all use mediaWiki software under the hood, just like wikipedia does, so you'll already be familiar with the way stuff works
  7. enVoyage 2.5m edits, 50 admins, 500 active users, 100k articles
  8. deVoyage 0.6m edits, 12 admins, 175 active users, 40k articles
  9. nlVoyage 0.1m edits, 5 admins, 32 active users, 10k articles
  10. WikiVoyage has: destinations (places), itineraries (schedules), phrasebooks (translation-aides), and other generic travel topics (planes/trains/automobiles/luggage/etc).

They have something like the WP:TEAHOUSE over there, called the traveller's pub, where you can ask questions about how to get started.

http://en.wikivoyage.org/wiki/Wikivoyage:Travellers%27_pub

As for whether references are required... they aren't required *here* either!  :-)   But people here on enWiki are a lot more annoying about wanting references immediately, because this wiki has 4m articles already (plus a lot of trouble with spammers), and therefore we need more help improving refs, more than we need additions of unsourced new material, *Some* People say anyways. I'm not really one of those people. But in a new project like wikiVoyage, where there are only very few articles, and even most of them are woefully incomplete, adding good information is waaaaaay more important than adding a reference for every single little sentence. Should be lots of fun for you!

Hope this helps, let us know what you find out, and if you meet anybody friendly over there. Also, if you cannot find anybody over there to help you get started, I recommend asking for help here at the WP:TEAHOUSE, explain you are interested in enVoyage/deVoyage/nlVoyage/whatever, and probably somebody at the teahouse here will know somebody involved in those voyage-wikis. Of course, feel free to ping me if you wish; I've never tried wikiVoyage, but I'm not shy, I'll go bash around over there until I find somebody to help you out.  ;-)   You can also just beboldo and go start editing, right now, if you like. It's fun to be bold, rumour has it. — 74.192.84.101 (talk) 01:26, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks 74! I submitted the article and its in mainspace. Great!

I asked a question in the WP:TEAHOUSE if someone can help me with wikivoyage :) Maartje77 (talk) 04:54, 13 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
