Please leave the indef block template as it is. The user is indef blocked and "what he wants" (as you put it) doesn't mean diddly squat. He doesn't get to say what is on his talk page since when he decided to leave, per WP:RTV, he gave up that right. I have requested protection on the page as well. - NeutralHomer • Talk • 05:55, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
Wow, what a big start to Round 3! We already have people past the 50 point mark, in one week. We can tell that this round is going to be tight, and we'll likely see every Top 8 contestant with over 500 (maybe 400) points by the end of this round. Keep working hard! – weburiedoursecretsinthegarden, iMatthew : Chat , and TheHelpfulOne

Turns out last week's newsletter was never sent out. Sorry about that! Since we already had it done, we are sending you both. This newsletter is the one for this week though. Anyway, we're seeing you guys working really hard. There are a few of you over 100 points in the first two weeks. Also, we have switched Ottava Rima from Pool D to Pool B, and Shoemaker's Holiday (who has withdrawn) from Pool B to Pool D. Scorpion0422 is more than likely to withdraw before this round ends, because he will be inactive next round. That would leave 2 contestants in Pool B. So, to make things fairly even, we have switched the two contestants. Sorry for all of the confusion!
Finally, we know it's very early, but you can already sign up for the 2010 WikiCup, here! We want to get everything ready way in advance for next year. So we opened the list up, and we'll start working things out in September/October, most likely. Information is all on the page, and you may leave any questions on the talk page. So go sign up before your favorite flag is taken! 'weburiedoursecretsinthegarden, iMatthew : Chat , and TheHelpfulOne

Some did well this week, but a lot of you didn't move much. Some are still hanging under the 200 mark. Our current top 8 are all over 200, so if you are below that line, get moving! There is a poll up at the talk page about the rest of this year's competition. If all of you could give your opinion there, it would be very much appreciated.

You have nominated First Crusade as a good article, which I have agreed to review. However, I notice that you have not made any recent edits to this article (if any). This is unusual - it is normally one of the major contributors who nominates an article (although it is not unknown for an non-contributor to nominate an article). Basically, I want to know if you have enough knowledge of the subject to make any corrections that come up as part of the review?
Although the article is not in bad shape, there are some major problems with it, and it will not pass GA in it's current form. Indeed, it will require quite a lot of work. If you are genuinely committed to completing all the revisions, then I will happily complete the review. However, if not, there are grounds for a quick fail ("there are cleanup banners that are obviously still valid"), and I will complete the review in that manner.
I don't mean this to come across as unfriendly, I just want to make sure that if I go through with the review that it won't be in vain.
Yes, I have a fair enough knowledge of the article, but I'm not a complete master—I may not know some specific details here and there, but I have a good enough knowledge. —MC10|Sign here!23:17, 10 July 2009 (UTC)
There were a few mistakes in last weeks' newsletter. Apologies about that. In regards to the competition, a few of you shot up in points this week. Very, very impressive. However, now that some have shot up to the top, others of you have to work even harder to catch up! There are about 3 weeks left in the round, so if you're behind, now is really the time to start nominating content, so that it can count for this round. If you wait too long, we won't be able to hold off the round while your content is being reviewed.
Per this tiny poll, the remainder of the competition has been altered.. sorry!! The changes being made are as follows: "We will be combining the last three rounds. Round 4 will now last from August through September, with 8 contestants. On September 1st, however, we will eliminate the bottom four contestants. The top four contestants will continue the round with the same score. Then, one person will win out of the remaining four on September 30th." You can also see this change to the main WikiCup page.

Hello all, iMatthew here. I just wanted to let you know about "The Great Wikipedia Dramaout" which starts this Saturday. The goal of the Dramaout is to spend five days working on improving articles and abstaining from any of Wikipedia's drama. I don't think that any of you will have a problem focusing on articles for five days, because of course, any work you get done during the Dramaout will count towards your score in the WikiCup. Details are on the page; hope to see you all signing up! :) iMatthewtalk at 00:27, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

If it is possible to give IP-block exempt, please do so. This IP may likely be reblocked because of vandalism by my brothers, such as LexusIS300 (and the accounts he will create because of IP unblock). —MC10|Sign here!19:37, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

About two weeks left, now. To those of you in the back, don't give up. There is still enough time to get some more work done. To those of you in the front relaxing... don't. We've seen it happen before, where users in the back will jump ahead in the final weeks and make it though.
We'd also like to wave goodbye to Scorpion0422, and thank him for all of his hard work this round even though he knew he needed to withdraw at the end of it.

I figured that much out. And in my opinion it's not worth it as the king is already castled. If you have an urge to sacrifice a piece, try the Fried Liver Attack. -download׀sign!02:06, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
First Crusade GA Review
I was reading First Crusade, and I saw that it is a GA candidate. Related to this, I know this may be a personal question, but may I ask if you knew you were going to start a holiday last week when MinisterForBadTimes first contacted you? Otumba (talk) 22:41, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
*breaths out* Phew. I confess the reason I asked is I feared you did know, and if so I was ready to express my displeasure in view of the hard work MinisterForBadTimes undertook. As advice, I would like to point out something you said, "I'll be on vacation for most of the summer: expect me to be much more active once September comes around", in response to "Excellent, I will get on with the review in that case." I am sure this wasn't your intention, but your response after this editor had done the review was very casual, as if you were saying "Oh, by the way, I'll be on holiday for this review, so I can't do what I said I would do and work on it. Cheerio." Again, I am sure this was not your intention, but that's the way it came across to me, maybe some other observers, and possibly MinisterForBadTimes. In future, in similar situations, maybe you should explain that you have to go on an unexpected holiday, to avoid such confusion. Otumba (talk) 23:00, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
I do appreciate your apology, and I don't mean to appear to refuse it, but maybe the better person to apologise to is MinisterForBadTimes, for whilst the latest work by on the lead is good the GA review was completed 10 days ago, 3 days over the time that a GA review should be closed. The review will most likely be closed very soon with a fail. I suggest that the fail not be disputed, that you use the advice given by MinisterForBadTimes in his/her review, improve the article accordingly, and then re-nominate. Otumba (talk) 23:13, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
And no worries regarding the lateness. I was a bit concerned that you weren't making any changes to the article, because I didn't actually see your reply here. If you were on holiday, then fair enough. I will leave the review on hold for a while yet, in order to let you make some changes. I will probably help out where I can. I think the article is nearly there, so it would be a shame to fail it now!
I just logged out and looked at an article, and I don't get a grey bar above the title - so it could be something to do with the setup on your system; if it's a problem, please either try to describe it further, or - preferably - upload a snippet of a screenshot, so we can see what you mean. Chzz ► 22:10, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
Thank you. I see what you mean. I suspect that this may be due to one of the entries in your monobook. I suggest that you remove everything from your monobook, and see if that resolves the issue; if it does, then, you could add things back, and work out which part is causing it through a process of elimination. If removing the monobook entries does not resolve it, please let us know with a further helpme. Chzz ► 20:31, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
Hi there, MC10! Thought you might be interested in Motto of the Day, a collaborative (and totally voluntary) effort by a group of Wikipedians to create original, inspirational mottos. The round is over in about four days from now. Sit back, watch your nominations being reviewed, and hope for the best. In these four days, you don't have much control over your score. It's what you did prior to now, that's going to pile up your points (or not). We're very, very pleased with this round's results so far, and of course hoping to see some more submitted before the round ends.

Right, last newsletter before the next round and it's a congratulations to eight of you lot. Unfortunately we say goodbye to a fair few users along the way but that is the competition. Next round, there will only be one pool which will see the lowest scoring users eliminated two months into the round. Should be good fun! Get your nominations in soon!
