English coffeehouses...

[edit]

It appears that you are in the process of creating a new article. Might I suggest that you copy the contents of your article to your own user page (User:Lyckaj), or a subpage thereof (perhaps User:Lyckaj/Coffeehouses)? There you can develop the article with multiple revisions and tests without disturbing the main article space. Once the article has reached the form you desire, you can copy its contents back to the main article space. The type of "try it until you get it right" editing you appear to be undertaking is discouraged in the main article space. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 19:46, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes it is my work, and I'm very new to wiki and I'm trying to create a new wiki article. Thank you for the suggestion, WikiDan, I will be editing on my own page until its perfect!! Please don't mind the *s and the "insert here's", those are my own notes, It would actually be quite helpful if you could delete my old page, then I can add a new one when I'm all done editing on my page. Thank you!!--Lyckaj (talk) 20:08, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

April 2009

[edit]

Please do not replace Wikipedia pages with blank content, as you did to English coffeehouses in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Blank pages are harmful to Wikipedia because they have a tendency to confuse readers. If it is a duplicate article, please redirect it to an appropriate existing page. If the page has been vandalized, please revert it to the last legitimate version. If you feel that the content of a page is inappropriate, please edit the page and replace it with appropriate content. If you believe there is no hope for the page, please see the deletion policy for how to proceed.   — Jeff G. (talk|contribs) 19:58, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Jeff, the blanking was meant to say "please delete this state - I am working on it in user space". Now fixed. — RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 20:09, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Move

[edit]

Your user page is really for you to tell us about yourself. In a moment I shall move your present user page to User:Lyckaj/sandbox. Please save any edits and wait. — RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 20:04, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wait wait!! Where can I work on a wiki page with edits and so on until its ready to be posted?!!!--Lyckaj (talk) 20:09, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I just told you man!!! In User:Lyckaj/sandbox!!! — RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 20:11, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry... I'm new here... --Lyckaj (talk) 20:12, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Incidentally, if those *'s mean what I think, please note that we normally wikilink a topic once only. Thus the first time you mention coffee you will of course link it. But not on the half dozen times after that. — RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 20:16, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oh!! Thank you! Did not know that... Did i mention this was a school project? very difficult to figure out how to do this...--Lyckaj (talk) 20:24, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Also, I was wondering, When referencing, what do you do if you have to reference two different texts by the same author?--Lyckaj (talk) 20:27, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Moll King.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Moll King.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — neuro(talk)(review) 01:37, 3 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Images

[edit]

The phrase "shooting oneself in the foot" springs to mind. I gave you a link to the Hograth gallery on the Commons, so why are you: uploading here instead of to the Commons; failing to use the obvious PD-old template and failing to give a source? (Even if you have scanned some of these from a recently published book, it is OK because PD-old means you are allowed to. Even though it is obvious in a case like File:Womenspetitionagainstcoffee.JPG, you must still state the original source to support your PD-old claim.) — RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 01:01, 4 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Coffeehouse_reading_journalism.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Coffeehouse_reading_journalism.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Melesse (talk) 21:15, 7 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I have tagged File:Historical_coffee_bean.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Some examples can be found at Wikipedia:Use rationale examples. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags/Non-free. Thank you.
