Speedy deletion nomination of Jesse Garrick

CBRNe World

CBRNe World is the world’s largest military and civil CBRN defence magazine and is published and distributed bi-monthly by Falcon Communications Ltd. According to their website, “CBRNe World magazine, published bi-monthly by Falcon Communications Ltd, serves the information needs of professionals around the world charged with planning for or responding to a chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear or explosives (CBRNe) threat or incident."

History

In August, 2006, David Levitt and Gwyn Winfield founded Falcon Communications Ltd, initially based in Twickenham, Richmond upon Thames, and then subsequently in Winchester, UK and Maryland, US. In October of 2006 the first issue of CBRNe World was printed, with an initial circulation figure of 6,000. The magazine began life as a quarterly publication but in 2012 was altered to bi-monthly due to growing circulation figures. As of January 2012, CBRNe World had over 10,0500 subscribers in 32 countries.

Current CBRNe World

The current and founding editor-in-chief of CBRNe World is Gwyn Winfield, noted for his candid editorial style. He has also produced and/or chaired CBRN conferences, spoken at a number of NATO CBRN conferences, written for other defence and homeland security magazines and national newspapers, presented a BBC documentary on the state of UK readiness for a CBRN attack and co-authored a book on terrorism. Since the early days of the magazine, Winfield has worked hard to maintain CBRNe World’s highly-respected status among CBRN professionals with a diverse editorial program comprising features, comment pieces, interviews and international contributions.

Today the magazine has unprecented influence in the military and civil defence industry, and has extended its reach to conferences and exhibitions, primarily the CBRNe Convergence. The company continues to partner with some of the largest military and civil security institutions in the world including NATO, the FBI, the International Criminal Police Organization and the OPCW. CBRNe World contues to work closely with many of the major security agencies in the world including the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) and UK Home Office, the US National Institute of Justice (NIJ), the FBI, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical and Biological Defence (JPEO CBD), United States Army Nuclear and Combating WMD Agency (USANCA), Sapeur Pompier de Paris, Bundeswehr, Bulgarian Ministry of Defence, South African National Defence Force (SANDF), New York Police Department, Fire Department of New York, London Metropolitan Police (Met), Brazilian Marine Corps, Edgewood Chemical and Biological Centre (ECBC), and the Defence Science and Technology Laboratories (DSTL).

Criticism

CBRNe World has attracted criticism in the past as a result of its candid journalistic style. Notable criticisms include those made by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in early 2012.

Other editions

Falcon Communications also publishes Hazmat Responder World, a magazine for first-responders such as fire-fighters, which, according to their website, “will cover issues as diverse as air monitoring, risk assessment, railroad response, interoperability, communication systems, incident command systems, personal protective equipment, WMD response and clandestine labs.”

The Falcon Communications Directory is also scheduled for publication in late 2012. This will include a comprehensive list of companies and products within the CBRN industry, similar in concept to current directories such as those produced by Janes.
