Hello and welcome to Wikipedia!

Here are some tips to help you get started:

Good luck!

P.S. One last helpful hint. To sign your posts like I did above (on talk pages, for example) use the '~' symbol. To insert just your name, type ~~~ (3 tildes), or, to insert your name and timestamp, use ~~~~ (4 tildes).

AfD nomination of Dugba

[edit]
An editor has nominated Dugba, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dugba and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 22:01, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I was actually considering AFDing the Associated Students of Michigan State University article after the Dugba article was considered. I think it fails WP:Notability, since it is essentially a local organization for MSU. Yeah, it is bicameral and all that, but I don't think that is notable enough. Also, and probably most fatally, that article is rife with original research. Most of the statements (no matter how true they are), cannot be backed up with reliable sources. No offense intended or anything, but I just think that kind of info should be on the ASMSU's website instead of wikipeida.--RedShiftPA (talk) 02:38, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, that sounds fair. I'll also take a look at the article next week and see what kind of changes it still needs by then. My main concern is once the Original Research is taken out, hardly anything will be left that is useful. The article really is well written, and I sure useful to people within MSU. Since you have graduated, perhaps the current leaders of the ASMSU would like appropriate the research into their own website. (In fact, this article is 10x more useful than their website, as it currently stands: [1].) I also did see the other 20-odd student government pages. I will probably nominate some of the worst of them for deletion tomorrow. --RedShiftPA (talk) 04:55, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Merger I proposed

[edit]

I made a merger proposal to merge Associated Students of Michigan State University into the Michigan_State_University#Student_life section of the main article. I think once the unsourced and original research materials are removed from the ASMSU article, it will fit nicely into the Student life section. What do you think? (I accidentally labeled that edit as minor. Didn't meant to.)--RedShiftPA (talk) 23:07, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I looked for sources (beyond the school paper) to back some of the material up, but, like you, I found nothing. I tried to contact someone on the board of ASMSU (savcea@asmsu.msu.edu--the external relations person), but the email came back in error.
I agree that the rest of the Student Government pages should be merged into their main respective articles. I'll be working on that over the next few months. Would you mind helping me on that one? There are a bunch in this category: Category:Student governments in the United States. --RedShiftPA (talk) 02:05, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, can I ask if you were one of the "Four Horsemen" that began the organization? Just curious...--RedShiftPA (talk) 02:10, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I guess I would fall under the same nerdy category about that stuff. I was never an officer in my student association, but I tried all the time to re-write the constitution and student senator allocation formulas. You were lucky that someone kept all of the minutes and records, we had no precedent to work with, since nobody even bothered to keep that stuff longer than a year. --RedShiftPA (talk) 04:04, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

More merge proposals

[edit]

Hey, I saw you put in your 2 cents on the merge proposal of Union of Students of the University of Alaska Anchorage. If you're still interested in merging these student government articles into the main pages, here are a few more that I have proposed mergers for:

Associated Students of the University of Washington‎
Washington University Student Union
Union of Students of the University of Alaska Anchorage‎
UMSL Student Government Association
Syracuse University & SUNY-ESF Student Association‎
Student Senators Council
Associated Students of the University of Missouri
Missouri Students Association
Georgetown University Student Association
Associated Students of the University of California‎
University of California Students Association

Student Governments

[edit]

Hey, I decided to AFD a bunch of student government articles where my proposed merges were being contested. Thought you'd be interested. Wikipedia:WikiProject Universities/Deletion#16 March (AfD, CfD, TfD)--RedShiftPA (talk) 18:00, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

MSUG

[edit]

Thanks! I only stumbled across the story a couple of years ago... I think it's still a sore spot with the administration. Since the only version of the story I could find online is a reprint of the Ramparts article, I felt the 'net deserved a more even-handed version. Still, after I read it to her, my wife called it "tough love". Kevin Forsyth (talk) 14:41, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RFC on the conduct of a user

[edit]

Since you seem to be interested on aragones/catalan stuff and on coats of arms, and since you edited Coat_of_arms_of_Catalonia next to the user I opened the RFC on, I thought that you would be interested on Wikipedia:Requests_for_comment/Sclua. Feel free to comment there --Enric Naval (talk) 18:07, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As a part of GA Sweeps, I have added some suggestions for improvement for Sparty on the article's talk page. The article will remain on hold for seven days, at which time I will make a decision about keeping or delisting its GA status. Thanks. Nikki311 00:44, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Corner Blitz

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Corner Blitz, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Merged into Michigan State Spartans football

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. MacMed (talk) 00:50, 15 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The speedy request has been declined, however I'd still like to work with you to understand your concerns about the article and what we can do to improve it. Is there something in particular you'd like to see to help establish notability? Ronnotel (talk) 13:35, 16 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Governors of American Samoa

[edit]

As you are a member of the American Samoa Work Group, I was wondering if you had any interest in helping to create articles on the governors of American Samoa. We are lacking quite a few, and the project would go faster with more contributors. Do consider helping out with the governors listed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Missing encyclopedic articles/American politicians/Governors. Thank you and Cheers! Reviewer rights

[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Karanacs (talk) 16:02, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:American Samoa Route 001.svg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. File permission problem with File:Sparty mascot.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Sparty mascot.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 21:51, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It shows a smaller area for the botanical gardens though. Anyway, just thought you might be interested. You can edit this map, similar to editing wikipedia.

PET Keyboard update?

[edit]

Hello Lovelac7, this getting in contact is a jungle you seem to need an education for... Anyway, I updated your https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Datei:PET_Keyboard.svg with more proper looking characters, would you like me to send it to you for an update you can make or should I upload it myself? When testing uploads to Wikipedia I noticed all bitmap previews put a big black blob on the numeric keyboard even though the .svg looks perfectly fine. Have tried many many ways to get rid of it. The best result so far was converting it back and forth to pdf but even though it still looked fine in Inkscape several keys where now white without the nice yellowish shades you had made. Would be really nice if you wanted to have a look, I can be reached with e-mail (I couldn't reach you or I would have used that) here: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Special:EmailUser
