Sources & colons

[edit]

What Wikipedia uses is not "official sources" or "fan trusted sources" but reliable sources. We cannot take the word of various people who went to PMC and heard from the producer that the new season which was not named at that time will use footage from Shinkenger. That is not how Wikipedia works. We need information that can be verified by neutral third-party sources, or information that is taken directly from the source that is not extrapolated from interpretting the source. This is why we here at Wikipedia are going to wait until there is either, A, an official statement from Saban that Power Rangers: Samurai uses footage from Samurai Sentai Shinkenger, or, B, the ending credits of the first episode of the new show that states in the credits that the show is based off of Shinkenger, which has been done in the past for all other shows.

Also, we here at Wikipedia have gone through this idiotic obsession over the presence of the colon from all of the idiots at RangerBoard over and over and over, again. If you don't like the fact that we use those two dots to separate the title "Power Rangers" from the subtitle, e.g. "Lightspeed Rescue", "RPM", "Samurai", etc., then just don't come to this website so you don't have to deal with it.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 06:47, 5 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

So Ryulong, are you telling me the producer of the show is not reliable. If so, you REALLY need to turn over the reins of the Toku project to somebody far more capable Lordchaotic (talk) 08:21, 6 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Damn right. I even made a completely new Wiki, because Morphin Grid's admin took two days to add a PR Samurai article (even deleting someone's attempt to do on on the day it became official) while as you say Wikipedia cannot be trusted while Ryulong is in charge. Here's my wiki: http://mmpr.wikia.com/ And I should point out that season 1's credits don't mention based on Zyuranger, they didn't mention "Galaxy Rangers" until season 2. Thus, on Ryulong's logic, we can't say season 1 was based on Zyuranger. Heck, Zyu isn't the only show called Galaxy Rangers, therefore saying it was referring to Zyuranger is as much WP:OR as saying PR Samurai is based on Shinkenger! Lordchaotic, we can't use "people that went to Power Morphicon 2" as a source per WP:No original research#Primary, secondary and tertiary sources. Also, if you think the article titles should not have colons in them, you can start a discussion about it at: WT:WikiProject Tokusatsu. Powergate92Talk 17:58, 6 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
There are no "reins" of the Toku project, Lordchaotic. Wikipedia doesn't work that way. I am not saying that Tony Oliver is not reliable. I am saying that everyone who is reporting on what he said at Power Morphicon is not a reliable source according to Wikipedia. If he made a statement and the press reported on it, then we'd all be fine. But that isn't happened and whatever he said has been filtered through a million fans. Also, Digifiend, stop pulling at straws. Seeing as the ending credits say "Galaxy Rangers" and "Dai Rangers" are used, and it's the first time they mention them, it goes to say that season 1 is covered by this, especially 17 years after the fact.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 18:50, 6 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
