Warmington

[edit]

There is no such place as Warmington in Oxfordshire. I do note that the obit for Norman Painting states Oxfordshire; but they're wrong. I expect they're confused because the village of Warmington, Warwickshire has a Banbury postal address, so is often assumed to be in Oxfordshire. It is something like half a mile from the Oxfordshire/Warwickshire boundary, at grid reference SP4147. --Redrose64 (talk) 19:20, 29 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Jamaican sex offenders

[edit]

Is this really a useful way of sorting people, to the benefit of an encyclopaedia? WFCforLife (talk) 22:54, 29 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes; there are similar categories for many other divisions of criminals by nationality and type of crime. Lkjhgfdsa 0 (talk) 22:57, 29 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It looks to me like an attempt to find yet another stick to beat a guy with. I have no desire to defend the individual for whose sole "benefit" this category has been initiated, but I would defend the Wikipedia project against such use. Kevin McE (talk) 23:12, 29 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

User name

[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it's an incoherent and random series of characters. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may file for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account and use that for editing. Thank you. postdlf (talk) 23:28, 5 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's not random to me. I spotted straight away that it's the middle row of the keyboard, backwards. --Redrose64 (talk) 23:34, 5 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
There is nothing on the page Wikipedia:Username policy that prohibits a username such as mine. It is the middle line of the letters on a keyboard backwards with a 0 added on the end. It is only incoherent in that it does not have any meaning, but there is no policy that states usernames must be meaningful. It is not random; it is a reverse sequence on a standard keyboard. The 0 was added solely because Lkjhgfdsa was taken. I cannot see why I would need to change my username; if you really think that necessary, please direct me to the part of Wikipedia policy that states a username consisting of a sequence on a keyboard is prohibited. There are many other users with a similarly constructed username; I don't see a problem. Lkjhgfdsa 0 (talk) 00:14, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Edward Woodward

[edit]

Two of your recent edits to Edward Woodward state "Telegraph obit" in the summary; but there is no reference to that obituary in the article itself, only under "External links". I'll try to turn it into a proper reference, and pop it against all relevant sections; in particular the paragraph dealing with education where both a {{dubious}} and {{cn}} have been removed, but no reference added. --Redrose64 (talk) 18:19, 16 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

OK, if you find any more facts in that obit which also appear in the article, just stick <ref name=telegraphobit /> after each, it'll link to the citation that I've just constructed. --Redrose64 (talk) 22:01, 16 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Simon Monjack's father

[edit]

According to death records on ancestry.co.uk, William Monjack died in 1986. I think the Daily Mail article is confused - it probably meant that he died when Simon was 15 years old. That would make more sense. Ravenscroft32 (talk) 19:43, 27 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

William Monjack was married to Linda P. Hall, who is Monjack's mother - marriage record on ancestry.co.uk. Hall is listed as mother's name on SM's birth record. That's all I've got for proof!Ravenscroft32 (talk) 23:49, 28 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This should be on the talk page of the article, as it is about improving it. Lkjhgfdsa 0 (talk) 23:55, 28 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Akmal Shaikh. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period. Additionally, users who perform several reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. When in dispute with another editor you should first try to discuss controversial changes to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. Should that prove unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. Please stop the disruption, otherwise you may be blocked from editing. Tom N (tcncv) talk/contrib 00:29, 1 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I was reverting unjustified and often unexplained removal of content, which has talk page consensus for inclusion. As such, I was not edit warring, I was reverting vandalism. Lkjhgfdsa 0 (talk) 00:33, 1 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I have put the GA Review on hold for seven days to allow time for the issues detailed on Talk:Akmal Shaikh/GA1 to be addressed. Any questions please get in touch. SilkTork *YES! 12:29, 13 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Here, have a barnstar ;-)!

The Invisible Barnstar is awarded to editors who make significant and helpful contributions to the project, but have kept to the background without seeking recognition or reward for their work.
I, HJ Mitchell, award this to Lkjhgfdsa 0 for all the hard work you've put into improving Alexander McQueen, even after his death has dropped out of the headlines. Keep up the good work. HJ Mitchell | fancy a chat? 22:29, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

GA Review of Akmal Shaikh on hold

[edit]

The GA review of the Akmal Shaikh article has been on hold for over 30 days. It is near to being passed, but the Akmal_Shaikh#Reaction section needs editing to reduce the amount of direct quotation as per Wikipedia:Quotations, and also to be trimmed in general to meet GA criteria 3(b): "stays focused on the topic without going into unnecessary detail". Any assistance in this matter would be appreciated. SilkTork *YES! 10:39, 15 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
