Khoury Oath at Northeastern

[edit]

Hi Liz, I have edited the career sections with the facts. Facts are facts. Ms. Mynatt unilaterally has imposed the Oath (written exclusively by her)on her student body with out opt-out, representation, transparency or any formal process. Is any of this is untrue -- please point me to sources. I have cited a source which Ms. Mynatt has written herself that says that students "adopt and recite" the Oath but gives no mention to any formal process, oversight or "CS+You" inclusion. I'm actually thinking of breaking out the Oath into it's own section to dispell the myth that the Khoury Oath is anything like the Hippocratic or Engineer's blah, blah -- there really is none as the US found the idea to be against 1st amendment rights after it was used in Canada. Besides does Khoury have a secret ceremony and a ring? Cause the "Oath of Engineer's" does! The Hippocratic Oath's origin story and adoption is far more complicated and will take pages to compare to the Khoury Oath accurately. I implore you to implore Ms. Mynatt to fix these oversights that almost all other schools of good reputation have implemented. If I do break the Oath out as it's own topic, it will be comprehensive and well cited. Free to talk anytime. -- NOATHX No Oath (talk) 18:21, 3 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Liz, I have to take exception with 2 facts in your write up in regard to the Khoury College Oath. 1. In the transcript of Ms. Mynatt's commencement speech in 2024, she specifically says that the Oath is NOT a pledge so you can't claim it is one, that is counter-factual. 2. There is no evidence that the ethics referenced in her Oath are integrated into the curriculum. If you have a citation to that fact, post it and I will evaluate it. The truth here is that one administrator wrote the oath only from her POV over 5 years ago and has been trying to pass it off as anything other than this. Since I started to protest the authoritarian way in which the Oath has been implemented at Khoury, Ms. Mynatt has attempted to "back-fill" the facts to match her narrative and rehabilitate the Oath as somehow voluntary when is not in the least. I have finally reached an agreement with a 3rd party (Jess Pater -- close friend of Ms. Mynatt) on some text that we have now posted to the published version of the Elizabeth Mynatt page. If you disagree with that text, then there is something to discuss, otherwise, let's all move on. No Oath (talk) 19:26, 22 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
