My husband did odd (very odd) "jobs" for King in the sixties, and we babysat several of the King children (they probably recall us as White "hippy" kids). Although we never spoke with Dr. Garrow or any of the others who tried to research the true story (due to threats on our lives) we still feel it is an enormous mistake to portray King as a saint. Indeed, portraying him as a "good" man is stretching things considerably. I am not brave enough to try to tell the truth, but I hope others will do a little research and use some common sense.

While we certainly do not wish to deny or denigrate any of the thoughtful or progressive ideas that King's stardom helped bring to the awareness of the general public, we do believe the originators of the thoughts and turns of phrase should be given more credit. Perhaps links to Archibald Carey, Jack Boozer, and others who were the sources of the prose and poetry that King delivered in his speeches would be informative.
