JarlaxleArtemis again…sigh
[edit]Hope you don't mind, but you are apparently the appropriate person to inform that JarlaxleArtemis is being a pest again in various quarters. I noticed him on WP:ANI making a snarky comment and followed up, since the name rang a vague bell. His talk page and recent contributions show evidence of continuing twittery, and when I mentioned it in passing on IRC I was recommended to ensure that you were aware of the situation. Cessna 414
[edit]Hi, Linuxbeak. Nice nick. I'm a new newbie. I was referred to you by Sarah E. (I forget her last name). I wonder if you have photos or illustrations of a Cessna 414 that could be used in the Keith Green and Cessna 414 articles. Sarah said you might be able to point me somewhere. I'm also looking to expand the Cessna 414 article with documented specs and other stuff. I'm almost finished with Keith Green's. --Mdoc7 15:58, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

Hi, and thanks for offering to help with the Wikipedia Weekly podcast. Episode 2 will soon be recorded and release, and so we've started planning for Episode 3, to be recorded next Friday. If you'd like to be on the panel, or suggest any content for the show, feel free to edit that page with the details. Don't feel limited to the five places on the panel, either - there are two extra places available for alternate hosts, who would fill in if the others are unable to speak.
Thanks again for the offer of support, and see you soon. :) Daveydweeb (chat/patch) 11:33, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
My cool new unofficial messagebox.
[edit]Hi Linuxbeak. I am going to proceed to show you my cool new, unofficial messagebox to which I achieved the wiki markup from by substing another template.
What do you think? Should there be a nutshell that works with anything? I like it!

Half-Life WikiProject?
[edit]Hi there, I saw your name on HL's talk page, and I wanted to ask you if you're interested in creating a WikiProject on Half-Life. I've haven't had anyone interested sign up on the projects proposed page. -- Selmo (talk) 01:57, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
Hi.
I belive this should be deleted permanently as found it unintentionally in Google and it is against the privacy policy.
Best regards, Nux (talk) 12:36, 7 November 2006 (UTC).
- How is the information on that page any more of a privacy violation than the information contained in Wikipedia:Long term abuse and its various subpages? Both sites contain similar information (i.e., user accounts cross-referenced with IP addresses). —Psychonaut 18:41, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
- I might have missunderstood something - I've thought that some of the IPs were not the ones of Jarlaxle. And if Tim don't want to delete it then I guess it's OK. So sorry for that. --Nux (talk) 21:12, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

Happy Thanksgiving!
[edit]Happy Thanksgiving to you and your love ones. This year I have the whole family over (last year my daughter, son-in law and little Nina spent it in Iowa). We'll put up the Christmas decos after dinner.
I'm going to work on some of the MoH's soon. I created a Category: Recipients of the Silver Star medal and added some names. Maybe you know of some people who were awarded the Silver Star medal and who do not have that cat. on their pages. You can help me out by adding the cat.
Take care my brother.

Bot Help ?
[edit]Hey there Linuxbeak, I dunno if you can help out on this, but I knwo that you can point me in the right direction. I would like to add templates to ar wiki of all the verses of the New Testament and Old Testament, in such a way that: {{BibleNT|Matthew|24|24}}
would give you Matthew 24:24 or something like that, i am sure there's a similar thing in en wiki, but i dont know it.
I want to run this as an automated process, I have my own bot at ar wiki (LordAnubisBOT) and it uses the pywikipedia python framework.
Do you know which particular .py bot i can use to perform this task ? do you know anyone who's done something like that recently ? cheers. --Lord Anubis 08:32, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

Dear People at Wikipedia,
As you are aware, I registered (or joined) Wikipedia this evening. My IP is NOT 24.66.94.140, and I was getting messages that my IP was being blocked because of abuse to the system. My IP is nothing close to 24.66.94.140, which Wikipedia told me that that was my IP. I take it that IP 24.66.94.140 is on a black list of some sort, but can't you tell on your system what my actual IP is? Or, was I being blocked because I have been using Wikipedia for some time now, without having registered. But even if that is the case, why would your server tell me that I had abused the system? I'm really curious about this, so please send me a message explaining what the mess up was all about. Just in case you want to know, my IP is 70.64.11.80. As far as the name 'Kalhun' goes, I don't think anyone goes by that name because it's a name my parents made up since they escaped from the Soviet Union and didn't want to jeopordize our remaining relatives in theee former Soviet Union durin g the Stalin Era, so when we would write letters to my uncles and aunt, we would use the name 'Kalhun' as our name on the return address. [It's really unbelievable, but we would receive letters from our family and they had been read by the KGB because some sentences would be crossed out in red, and there were always red check marks probably meaning the letter is 'OK' to be received by our family in Kiev. Thank goodness that evil empire (as RWR called it) collapsed on itself because now we have made several trips to the old country.] Well, drop me a line about what the mix up was all about. As for Wikipedia, I just think it's the best thing on the net since sliced bread. Do you know if there are any job openings at the company, as I have recently relocated (but am willing...and wanting to relocate from Saskatchewan, Canada. Ideally, I would love a good position in Toronto or Montreal, or overseas, as I can spend hours and hours at your website. Please advise, and thank you for rectifying the mix up so quickly. If you do not handle this type of stuff, please pass it on to someone who does. I'm very new to this and have left messages with a few administrators. (For me it's not really clear as to who to contact....hope you can help me out).

[edit]Just to let you know, some loser (no offense intended) is making accounts saying "bad things" about you. I'm blocking this person but there's a lot of accounts. Cheers and happy Cratship! —¡Randfan!Sign here? 18:07, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
I'm really annoyed.
After I and you and many others worked hard to make this article truly excellent and indeed an exemplar list on wikipedia, the same people that tried to get the previous list deleted come along a pull a scam like this.
I don't know if the deletion was marked at the top of the page, but I check the article from time to time and didn't notice it. They picket the holiday season when no one was looking, lost the vote, deleted anyhow using the same argument that was explicitly rejected by the community now and before. They gave no notice to the people who were watching the article. Doc Glasgow had previously been involved in the article and should have recused himself anyway. Hundreds of hours of people's time have been deleted on the whim of a admin with in axe to grind.
Carefully worked out criteria, methods of discussion, 120 references, dozens of articles linking in, a fantastic resource.
Again to refute the silly argument made by some that dictator is an "inherently POV" descriptor, simply search wikipedia for the word dictator and notice how many people are described that way. Britannica, Encarta etc all do so, as do all news outlets.
What can we do?
